She notices the change, but he keeps telling her there's nothing wrong. It goes on long enough that she starts wondering if she really is losing it. Nowadays people say someone's being gaslit if another person is abusing them by constantly making them not trust themselves. In the show, the women started having doubts, but the therapist told them they were wrong, to make the contestants unable to trust their own decisions and reality. Can really mess up a person in the long run, if they think all their thoughts and feelings must be wrong

There was Joe Millionaire, which similar to this but instead of Prince Harry the women were just made to think the guy was super rich when really he wasn't. And there was one called True Beauty where contestants thought they were there to compete over like which one of them was the hottest, but in reality they were being judged on their character and their inner beauty.
