I will never forget that wonderful night and the last appearance of our beautiful late Queen on the palace balcony . It was an act of will . Her Majesty was so sick she could hardly stand but didn't want to disappoint the millions of people that loved her so much . I also will never forget how disgustingly the harkles treated our late Queen when she was dying of bone cancer . Queen Elizabeth II could light up any city with her smile. She was simply wonderful and I will love her and miss her smile until the day I die. The main reason the late Queen had changed the rules was in case the (then) Cambridges' first child was a girl (the new rules on succession had gone into effect by that time). Under the old rules, despite being the heiress apparent, a first born girl would've simply been Lady [First Name] Mountbatten-Windsor whereas her first brother would've been born a Prince.

0:54 -- George still would've been born a prince under the old rules as George V made a great-grandchild exception for the "eldest son of the eldest son of the Prince of Wales" precisely because that child would be a future king.

Oh, come on. I've just written a lengthy post over on the DE correcting the many errors here. First off, George was always eligible under the 1917 Letters Patent, a copy of which can easily be found on line. The official site is The London Gazette, but I find Heraldica a little easier to navigate. He was the only great grandchild eligible, and Charlotte and Louis weren't. The late Queen created a new Letters Patent in December 2012 extending it to all of William and Catherine's children. This was before George's birth, and there was a very good reason for doing it at that time. They were working on the Succession to the Crown Act 2013, which had an effective date of Oct. 28, 2011, and removed male preference primogeniture. This would have meant that if William and Catherine's firstborn child had been a girl, she would have been a direct heir to the throne, but under the 1917 Letters Patent would not have been eligible for the HRH as that states "eldest son of the eldest son of the Prince of Wales". So changing it in this way they were prepared for the birth of either a boy or a girl. It also avoided a future problem with a female oldest child not being eligible in spite of being the heir to the throne, but a younger brother would be, as the eldest son. And even if Charlotte and Louis did not hold the HRH from birth, they would never have been styled Master or Miss. William was the Duke of Cambridge at the time, and they would have been styled as the younger children of a Duke. This would have meant they would be Lady Charlotte and Lord Louis, and most likely using the surname Mountbatten Windsor. This is how the younger children of the Dukes of Kent and Gloucester are styled, and similar to how Edward's daughter Lady Louise was styled as the daughter of an Earl. Harry's children were eligible to be known as the Earl of Dumbarton and Lady Lilibet from birth, but Harry and Meghan elected not to use these titles, but to wait for the HRH along with Prince and Princess that they were eligible for when Charles became King.

I always enjoy this channel but honesly saying what makes you create so an erroneous video? You should retract this one and reupload a corrected one. 1) HRH Prince Louis was styled "of Cambridge" only until his Gan-gan passed away. Now he is known as HRH Prince Louis of Wales. Not of Cambridge. 2) The firstborn of the then Cambridges would have been in peril of inability to enjoy HRH style and princely dignity only if being female. And we all know it was not the case. George as the eldest son of the eldest son (William) of the Prince of Wales (Charles) had the right to enjoy HRH Prince title and style without any change to George V's letters patent. The late Queen's intervension was set it ready for a female firstborn whose future accession was highly likely secure thanks to Perth Agreement in which Commonwealth Realms agreeed on genderless accession order among royal siblings.

Just two decades earlier in 1894, there were four generations alive at the same time-Victoria, Edward VII, George V and Edward VIII. Even before that, George III had several living illegitimate great grandchildren and of course of Princess Charlotte had lived, her baby would’ve been his sole legitimate great grandchild.

She was a role model to other women and those persecuted. Despite her violent upbringing she was far more moderate than the rest of her family. They are eligible. When they were young, Edward and Sophie elected to raise them as the children of an Earl, and a Letters Patent was issued by the late Queen confirming this. However, Sophie has stated in recent years that although they don't use the titles, they do have them, and could elect to use them as adults. So far, Lady Louise is the only one over the age of eighteen, and she's made no public decisions about any future title. Unless she becomes a working royal, I doubt she will use it.
