I love how often the fact that Dragovich says "Tried?" is when people play this ending. It ties in so well with the ending film especially since Mason says "Oswald Compromised!" confirming that Mason was in fact the one to assassinate JFK.

Its been pretty debated over the years whether he truly did it or not, as its never 100% confirmed, but I do believe he at the very least aided in some shape or form. As Schteiner stated, Mason was a wild card that just didn't follow orders the way every other agent did, yet still had all the knowledge planted in his head, hence his sporadic behavior, and knowledge of certain infos only the enemy would know of. Add in Reznovs succesful "reprogramming", and you have nothing but chaos in one human being

Fun fact. The Zombies timeline is a different one from this game's campaign. However, in this specific game there are a lot of references trying to tie them together. For example, in this zombie map where you play as Kennedy, some zombies may release Nova 6 gas after being killed. Also, in one of the intel documents you collect in the campaign, there's a mention to a cousin of Kravchenko, who was a scientist in the Der Riese facility. Der Riese is a Zombies dlc map for World at War and Black Ops

The thing I love about this game is that most of this actually happened - but in this case the characters are all fake. However, the premise of the whole game hinges on the fact that they can’t “find” the numbers station… When in reality it’s quite easy to find a radio station, because the signal gets stronger the closer you get to the tower… but the reason we kept them alive was because we thought the NSA could use them as a kind of training program.

Try playing Medal of Honor 2010. It's one of the best campaigns in military genre. It is loosely based on operation Anaconda (Battle of Takur Ghar). You've reacted to the video called "The First Medal of Honor Ever Recorded" and this is the same event (kind of). Besides MOH 2010 there's Battlefield 3 campaign, which is not as over the top as Black Ops, but it's a pretty good one too, and Battlefield 3 is 9 year old game, so you'd be surprised of what one year of difference can do.

He's no longer checking his corners, he's charging towards the checkpoints, and he's now shooting over and around the guys in front of him leading to multiple friendly fire incidents. This game kind of just assumes you know what a sleeper cell is rather than explaining it to you. This was a common tactic in the cold war, but I don't think anyone ever implemented it successfully. What they did was brainwash POWs and train them as agents that only respond to orders when they hear a certain queue, usually a sequence of numbers or words. They then allow them to escape back to their home country where they wait until they hear their queue to execute their orders. So what the Russians did was plant secret chambers of Nova 6 in the US that only the sleeper cells knew where to locate in order to release it and train them at Vorkuta to do it when the time was right. But Reznov overwrote Mason's programming to carry out his own personal vendetta, which is why Mason completely lost it. If you go back, you'll notice the numbers play whenever Reznov appears or anyone mentions his targets: Dragovich, Kravchenko, and Steiner. By the end of the game, you have those names drilled into your head just like Mason does
