If only the Government would invest in actual new Royal Navy warships...

You want to pay more tax then?

Forgive me...but the few times I've been on a RN bridge in rough weather I've been thrown around. Those people are just static?!

It wasnt really set up as rough there was it!

@@samanthamaxwell7339 The sea state would move the people around more than they did. If this is connected to a DRU type rig then it would be amazing

it's probably more about getting used to the ship controls and procedures while running through simulated missions then working out your sea legs.

I want one. They got this in VR?

They are not using British made blending from GBVI, so the SIMS are not as good as they could be.

If only the Russians were simulating attacking the Ukraine, HMS Duncan simulated sailing with anti-ship missiles, maybe the Government could simulate having a Royal Navy, think of the savings MoD. ex Royal Navy myself, Falklands, Gulf, and Armilla Patrol.

Are the RN trying to imply that in the future all naval operations will be carried out in simulation? With a panel judges ‘awarding’ the victory to whoever they deem the winner?
@trs4u6 ай бұрын
This is just for training at the moment I think. There isn't an enormous amount of difference between simulation and teleoperation. Victory will always require reducing the other side's ability to fight until they can't or don't want to. Waging war, when it seems less about flags and more about global capitalism's 'interests' with every passing year, might be suffering from diminished desire to expend children? I expect we'll see more 'virtually' crewed ships in future. The ships will have to be real but when one of ours sinks, the kids will be home early for tea.

No? It’s for training

How about having a proper Navy first?
@Kakarot64.6 ай бұрын
Hopefully up to date land based simulators make training personel for the ships easier and cheaper in the long run so they can more effectively train up more crews for the ships allowing for an increase in Hull numbers....... then again an elections coming up we'll need to wait until after to see if the military doesn't get cut by the next administration while they don't have to worry about winning a looming popularity contest.
@lachlanchester81426 ай бұрын
This is a bit cheaper

de facto admitting they dont have enough have enough ships to teach large ship handling skills any more. Sad really.
@samanthamaxwell73396 ай бұрын
British Airways use flight simulators, does that mean they don't have enough planes?
@lachlanchester81426 ай бұрын
No it’s not, you really think it’s more convenient and easy to send someone on a ship then it is to walk to the other side of camp to a simulator
@nickbrough83356 ай бұрын
No simulator can really replicate the Bridge of a warship with all the internal and external inputs as well as replicate the inertia and motion of a large warship. Ask yourself, did any Naval Officer beed to use one to learn basic ship operations prior to the present day ? Im not against it, but it is a reflection of the sorry state of the RN, when bridge crews need to be trained in a simulator because they cant access a real ship and put in the hours on the basics at sea.
