I’m not sure why there is a charity specifically for abuse victims for Black women alone. There is no difference in abuse regardless of race, abuse is abuse ?. So I don’t agree with this. But if it’s to give access in certain areas where the community are largely African that’s understandable. Perhaps they feel more welcome there. Perhaps there are language barriers for some . However any other minorities Asian white or other who also live in the vicinity of that charity should be allowed to use the the facilities also. One centre for all , they would only require interpreters, for those who don’t speak fluent English .

Racism should never be the victim being offended but the intent of the offender. People of low intellect or mental health can be offended by the slightedt thing doesnt mean we should tread on tip toes in case. Example, some folkscaee offended by a mess but does that mean we have to chop down all the cherry trees to stop blossom falling on the pavements in spring and offending one in a million.

I do think your lightness of attitude is a good thing. It shows confidence and understanding. My daughter is mixed race too, and is asked the question 'where are you REALLY from' after she has already said she's British. I do think this is rude and ignorant though - not racist - as she has answered the question already, and they are implying that because of her colour half of her heritage makes her what she is. She's never even been to Africa. British is where she's 'really from'. It can chip away at people's sense of belonging. As a white woman I never get asked about my heritage by a stranger first off. People should ask themselves why they're so curious only about POC's heritage. All of us have mixed heritages really.

Let’s just remember, this is a woman who changed her name from Marlene Headly to a Swahili one, runs an exclusively black only refuge centre that has her Caribbean roots mentioned in the first line of its mission statement and presents herself in traditional Caribbean dress. Well, its commendable that she is proud of her background but why on earth would she attack someone when they take an interest in her heritage, when it is the key identity for the project she was there representing. The transcript gives no context and is clearly one sided. As a mixed race Brit myself, I get asked the same question all the time and I appreciate people asking about my background. This is not racism. This was not a traumatic experience for her or by any reasonable means a form of abuse, get a grip!

@WhenLoveisProjected Жыл бұрын
@@dannyalbertt I'm not fussed about what she was or wasn't doing, just clarifying that traditional Caribbean clothes are made from bandana or madras cloth which doesn't feature in any of her pictures. Perhaps you meant to say African, but even then, I'm not sure leopard print cuts it from how I see my friends in their traditional African dress, but I don't know Africans from every country on the continent 🤷🏾♀. I agree this is a non-story and was definitely planned, however, I also think that in normal life asking someone about on first meeting them is rude and irrelevant and should be reserved for when you're actually trying to get to know someone deeper beyond their personality.

Marlene Headley I believe is her name. The other name is not officially hers was there to cause trouble.
