@@edu2003mdq This is what I am asking though. You didn't answer the other questions because those things mean that one is King by the state as well, the State of or rather Kingdom of ___________. This is also why I asked if the people did not approve of their king and wanted another or to not have a king, how would that be done? The notion of "king by the will of the people" in a modern Kingdom can be irrelevant if it requires the state to regulate the monarchy and do away with their king. Even a constitution governs a state and is not amended by the people through refereundums, but by the appropiate authority(s) stipulated for that state. The Constitutional Monarchy is a State Monarchy legitimised by State law (the constitution), not by the people, except by referendum initiated by The State, at least in our constitutional monarchies, this is how it works. Do the Belgian people make any decisions on who their king will be? Can they amend their own constitution or is that done by those with authority? Even in the days when there was a King of Scots, for example, he ruled over Scotland as well as the Scots, didn't he? So it was his Kingdom (basically his state) He made rules pertaining to the kingdom or was it just for the Scottish people and not the territory of Scotland? Did King James IV not consider Scotland his kingdom? His territory? The difference is with constitutional monarchy that their powers are limited and the monarchy itself is State controlled through Parliament for instance as constitutions are State law governing The State. I don't see how a constitutional monarchy can be of the people when they have no control of it other than to vote it out if The State holds a referendum at their request by majority or by governmental request. This is why I do not see a real difference between King of _______ and King of The _______ within constituional monarchy and even the more absolute ones. The subjects are not asked for their approval of each monarch nor were they around when the constitution was enacted and the laws regarding succession. I don't see the difference between the two titles other than the titles themselves. Our monarch reigns by law. He becomes king automatically, long before his coronation. When he is anointed and crowned, he is already king, theoretically crowned by The State as per law. The Coronation is the religious, ceremonial, and symbolic aspect of his kinghood. I am trying to understand whether or not there is truly a difference in these two titles other than the title today. Charles III reigns by the will of the majority as well because if the opposite were true, the monarchy could be abolished by referendum, but we also do not have to give approval for each monarch as law dictates who will be our monarch as per the Line of Succession regulated by Parliament, not us. Seems like the same thing to me.
