He did kind of a double blink, so yes, similar body language to an eyeroll. This is how out of the loop I am, I was thinking of QE2's dad and how he ascended the throne after the abdication. I was totally confused because I know he was really loved and then I realized he meant the current one. Ohhhh..... Lol.@@barrydysert2974

Indeed, I knew a lot of who and when, but I never really could connect it all together with why. Thank you! It is indeed very complex, especially with the religions and Scotland and Ireland thrown into the mix as well as other European powers. Wonderful job!

Some interesting bits of trivia about the regicides (king killers) and what happened to some of them after Charles II returned to the throne... 1. 58 men signed the warrant for Charles I's execution, including Oliver Cronwell, who signed in third place. The first to sign was the judge who'd presided over the king's trial. 2. Charles II wanted to avenge his father but not begin his reign by wading in blood. He pardoned many of those involved leaving only 29 men to be tried for his father's murder. 3. These 29 men included Major General Thomas Harrison, a puritan fanatic who believed the king's death would bring about the second coming of Christ and that this was prophocised in the Bible. 4, One of Harrison's fellow regicides, Hugh Peters, shared his beliefs. Peters, a puritan preacher, had given rousing sermons to the Parliamentary troops advocating for Charles I's execution as the will of God. Peters visited Charles not long before the king's execution intending to covert the king to puritanical protestantism but Charles refused to listen and order Peters to leave his chambers. 4. Another regicide was Henry Martin, an infamous womanizer, staunch republican and shockingly for the time, an atheist. Martin threw himself on the mercy of the court and was sentenced to life in prison instead, spending 40 years in the Tower and eventually going mad.

I do in fact, I care every bit & exactly why I came here. I am decended of the King of Kings, of the royal house of Stuarts, aka the remnant, aka servant to the master of the house, aka the lamplight. This, is my family's history, whom were labeled as royal prey by Cromwells sodomite cult once they'd murdered Charles to stole his head. This is why Cromwells carcass was abused so, though what had been done was over, Charles head as well the original crown was never returned, which is I have come to restore !

I always love listening to your explanations of stories, tales, and historical tomfoolery. Your voice is clear and concise, but without being verbose and voluble. Which is why the change in tone at the 14:54-14:55 mark, when you said “during his escape”, the “he” stood out to me. Was this done in post, or am I hearing merely the fluctuations of your recording software? As always, thank you kindly for educating some of us amateur history scholars on the lesser known shenanigans of your own royal house.
