Hey Roy, had same problem with mine. Turned out to be the large heavy spring you showed when cover was removed had the bent end snapped off which goes into the groove pocket thing at top of aluminum case. This means was slipping instead of being held in place. I think you can see in your video you have the same problem. Cheers and thanks for the great content.

It sounds like the locking dogs are slipping in the pull start. You'll have to replace all plastic parts in the pull start to fix it. That's what I would do anyway.

@@mamiecook7276 most likely did. Pull starts, carburetors, and spark plugs are the safest bet. Then it goes down to the throttle cable and fuel mixture. If not then, you gotta check the engine isn't seized

When you put it on pull the cord slowly then it should fit

These easystart pull starts are simply terrible. They have failed on every bike they have been fitted to. Its difficult to get a replacement now as the pull start has been upgraded to a much simpler pull start rather than the easystart type.

I've recently bought a replacement pullstart , it won't disengage so the pull cord return! It's extremely stiff as well

Two fuel taps?????? Strange! Those carbs are notorious for leaking if not set quite right. My sons mini moto ended up getting an upgrade carb and inlet manifold off of ebay which was quite cheap. Easiest way of fixing the pullstart is to replace the whole unit again cheap off of ebay. Great vid though!

Where did you get the carbs and intake? I've just bought a 2nd hand one,starts on throttle but cuts off when it's at idle and the carb seems to be leaking. Quite fancy it as a father son project.

@@TheePunisher carb leaks because of tiny black rubber gasket in the fuel tap. And your idle problem sounds like you need to slightly tighten your throttle wire adjuster on top of your carb at the wire end

The spring inside broke. Take apart and re bend the spring to fit in the groove.

Hello Roy I got a question about these pocket bikes(mini) my plastic piece inside of the pull start machine came off with the spring and I can not get it back on any idea on what I can do? Tried taking to a motor cycle shop didn't help at all.

My sons bike is doing the same thing but the two pieces inside the little flywheel on my sons are metal not plastic. I really think it has something to do with the spring being bad. I guess I’ll find out when I replace it

Ive got a problem with mine bogging when you go too rev it,it just wants too die with choke off ive cleaned jet and carb but still same its winding me up

i would say check the airfilter and would say carb needs cleaning and have a look at the gaskets

I would say turn your air fuel mixture screw anti clockwise in tiny amounts until its perfect, if you mess up, screw it all the way in and 2 a half turns back out. Then go left or right until its perfect

Or you might want to slacken your coil, put a card in between it and your flywheel and tighten back up and remove the card

Take the recoil off to see what the problem is but first take the spark plug off and see if that works as it might be hydrolocked

When I start the bike the revs go all the way up so I have to pull the brake and when I leave it sitting so it can warm up a wee bit the bike starts to move on its own any advice

Adjust the fuel screw on the carb

Maybe try slackening the throttle screw adjuster at the throttle or on top of the carb where the wire goes in. Or take off your carb lid and pull out your slide and make sure you seat it correctly, sometimes you need to remove the air fuel screw to get it to seat properly. But you will know if this needs done, because when you remove the air filter, you will see the slide in the carb, if its got anymore than a tiny gap, it's not seated correctly.

hi mate, i need the plastic cap thing. it sits one side on the pull start and other side attaches to the flywheel so that when the cord is pulled it turns the flywheel. whats happened to mine is the groove where the coil upper spring slots into has broke and the coil keeps popping off when i pull the cord so theres no tension. do you know the name of the part ...i googled the part number on it but nothing comes up

Here’s my issue, I was just riding it, stopped and it stopped running, when I pull it the bikes back wheel moves, even when I’m not giving any gas... any advice?

That means your clutch spring has broke and your clutch arm is activating instantly instead of around 3000rpm. New clutch about £7 ebay Make sure you take of your gearbox (thing your chain goes to) and match which clutch you need, there is upgrade ones aswell, very cheap. Only a couple of bolts, easy peasy 👍👍👍

Hello Roy I got a50cc dirt bike and my pul start keeps slipping each time you pull it. I got 2 new ones and they do the same thing it's only couple months old. Any helps

Try taking off the pullstart, and looking to see if the coil has slipped down. You should be able to rotate the flywheel by hand, so see if there are any skidmarks or scrapes on it. The airgap between the flywheel and the coil should be the thickness of a standard business card. If not, reset by loosening the coil bolts, slip a business card down between the two, push the coil snug against the card, and retighten the bolts. Remove the card by rotating the flywheel. Now, if that's not the case, you may need to pull the head off the bike to check the piston and rings. Hopefully, it won't come to that, but be prepared to do so, just in case. It may be the flywheel / coil airgap, which is a fairly easy fix.
