thanks I've played a lot of rpgs and these have had a huge influence on the gaming as a whole i hope to eventually make videos on all of my favorite rpg games even some of the more obscure ones like radiata stories, summoner 2, and shadow hearts. there are so many that we really don't have access to anymore its a shame

Chrono trigger is a great game, a masterpiece. The dream team perfected the game and the game is hailed as a 10/10 by mostly everyone. But In terms of influencing and changing the rpg landscape, Im not sure if it really did that much. I was shocked not to see Dragonquest as it is probably the most influential rpg series ever, (when it comes to Jrpgs). Its influence can be felt everywhere in jrpgs. Just to name a couple of series influenced. Dragonquest inspired the pokemon series, The final fantasy series, and the mother series (earthbound). Even in 2024 the yakuza series References dragonquest. In terms of western rpgs, bethesda and bioware are probably the most influential. The elderscrolls in particular. And then cd projekt red has raised the standards for rpgs with the witcher 3. Now Im wondering how this goty baldursgate 3 will change the landscape.

dragon quest is huge in Japan but it didn't really the rest of the world until 7 or 8 when it finally gained the worldwide success it deserves . i think chrono trigger is more influential in the overall rpg world as a singular game there have been a lot of small indie devs trying to replicate it even now with sea of stars and more. its a weird one in the fact that it has had more influence on devs than it on gaming in general . that's why its still being talked about about today. and you are right about dragon quest as a series being more influential but i was trying to pick out singular games not franchises. and i have to say it wither 3 love the world hate the combat 2 was better and that stupid horse that likes to run down hills on his front legs roach is the true villain of the game trying to keep him on track to get to a mission is difficult he loves to try and get you killed by running into trees.

i was the same with final fantasy 7 when i first played it 8 was my first final fantasy game and still might be my favorite its hard to pick from it and x

Terranigma, morrowind, star ocean, tales of phantasia, star ocean second story, dragon quest 3, treasure of the rudras, romancing saga 3, dragon quest 5. Final fantasy 7 marked the time when western culture had grown up enough (prior to that time, the culture was too infantile for jrpgs). Yes there are bad games, but there are also dumb players. So what do you do to sell a game world wide? Ya gotta dumb it down enough. It's like moving units in AOE2. Light cavalry move fast. Rams move the slowest (except when loaded with infantry). If you group the cavalry with the rams, the cavalry have to move to the rams speed.

i seen a video yesterday of someone still not knowing how to use the ps5 UI and this was one of the big gaming channels i hate how much games are getting dumbed down i just finished my review for alan wake 2 and that game holds your hand so much that they dont even let go find key items on your own you have to finish putting things on the investigation board.

xenosaga, shadow hearts, legend of dragoon, dark cloud 2, , arc the lad twilight of spirits, devil summoner, i feel the a lot of the dumbing actually came from western rpgs. the difference between mass effect 1 and to 3 is such a drop same with dragon age same with if they were to give me la remake of legend of dragoon with new high res static backgrounds and upgraded character models and left everything the same it would sale like crazy

Once again great vid, loved going back to the mass effect trilogy once again I went for 100% trophies on all 3 games.
