Yes. Commies gonna commie. It's easier and more strategically sound to just never trust them. They're either well aware of what they're doing and are therefore manipulative liars, or are useful tools working in the name of the collectivist ideology without even knowing because they've bought the surface lie that progressivism is 'good' and 'on the right side of history.'
@RPGPundit3 ай бұрын
Yes, that's correct. But as I pointed out on the video, it's also not an attempt at expanding the hobby, it's an attempt at invoking large numbers of people that you can claim to represent who DO NOT PLAY and WILL NEVER PLAY; and you don't actually care if they play. Wokists don't really give a crap about D&D, and therefore don't really want a billion black lesbian women playing D&D, they just want to claim that they SPEAK FOR the black lesbians.

I joke that Jesus harshly condemned LGBTQ (and gave cautious approval to supply-side economics). But he only told ONE apostle. During the Gift of Tongues, that apostle got Southern American English, a language which was not going to exist until another 1700 years. But the preachers found his writings and loved it and knew it was the word of God, although the verse that LGBTQ would attract hurricanes was only speculative, then and now...

The things with hobbies is that they just are; there are players, creators, merchants, advertisers, etc. The thing with communities is that there are "leaders". Leaders have to have followers to represent. So by assigning a community to a hobby, it sets up the possibility of becoming a leader and taking control of it. It always amazes me when people say that they represent the " community" which seems to be spread across a whole country, or even the world - the members of which are very likely to have quite different concerns.
@RPGPundit3 ай бұрын
Yes. But furthermore, the people making that claim of "fighting for" people who don't even play D&D do not actually care at all about those people. They're only invoking their name to capture virtue and gain more influence for their own ideological agenda.

I actually generally agree. Now, I kind of lump RPGs in with the rest of gaming in general these days, but that's because I'm a mad tinkerer who loves taking a little from column a through z, throwing them into a pot, and seeing what comes out. Story games, war games, rpgs, CRPGs, other computer games, throw it all in a pot and make something of it. Interestingly, I never thought of including computer games into the mix until I attended a panel on historical war gaming and asked them about mechanical differences between them and things like Warhammer. Origins was kind of enlightening. Still wouldn't play a convention RPG, though. Well, probably at least no more than once. Stories have too high of a risk of getting political. And I use the term story loosely here, as in life would qualify, yes.

Anyone interested in and willing to actually play the game is part of the hobby. No one who doesn't is.

You seem like such a well informed guy, but do you really not see the correlation between an inclusive space and getting more people into the hobby? Art is a small step in trying to get new people (especially kids) on board isn't it? I'm a white guy so I've never had this problem of course lol, but I have to assume if you never see someone who resembles yourself in a hobby space (especially fantasy, as D&D traffics in) you just kind of internalize that it isn't for you and you never end up trying it.
@boobah56433 ай бұрын
You'll have to explain why 'getting more people into the hobby' is a superior goal to 'maintaining the hobby's existence.' Seems that the former rather requires the latter. Nor does the hobby have some divine requirement for numbers to go up. Not that there's any evidence that tearing apart a hobby in pursuit of an ideal actually brings more people into the now-mangled hobby. It sure alienates the existing hobbyists, though. And, as a sidenote, I've never felt excluded from a piece of entertainment because the characters don't look like me. Somehow, I soldiered on through shows that were obviously excluding me, such as _Cardcaptor Sakura_ or _Madoka Magicka._ Heck, or _Avatar, the Last Airbender_ if you're paying attention; the four ethnicities in the show are basically Tibetan, Inuit, Japanese, and Chinese.
@RPGPundit3 ай бұрын
As a Latino, I assure you that's nonsense. There's no special need for "representation". Not for any normal person, anyways. There's an interest, you find it cool; like a white guy might find basketball cool, and wouldn't get turned off from it just because all the players are black. It's not some kind of society or community, that's a leftist lie. It's a hobby, a thing you do, with people. There's nothing special about skin color that would affect you doing that thing in any way. Inclusion was ALWAYS a lie. Latino gamers do not want to play games where orcs are mexicans or the PCs go on a quest to cook arepas. They want to play in the Lord of Rings, or Game of Thrones, or King Arthur, or just Greyhawk. The point is they like all the same things any other gamer likes.
@Norvik_-ug3ge3 ай бұрын
@@thethumps6786 Your assumption is incorrect - Vin Diesel. D&D under WotC is anything but an inclusive space, it seems to want to represent anyone but their traditional players. White, heterosexual, male players are unwanted, unless they kow-tow to the Seattle cultural Marxists.
