Keep this in mind. All of Soundgarden's biggest hits were recorded before pitch correction was a thing. He went into the studio and sang til he got it right. Every note you hear on those classic tracks is 100% Chris. Bands today, pretty much every note is tuned during editing. His performances sound perfect. Truly a genius on the mic.

If anyone is wondering why Chris is not screaming in certain parts like he does on the studio version, it’s because he is also playing guitar at the same time. This song is very hard to sing and play guitar on at the same time. Like really hard, haha. That’s why you see him looking down at his left hand a lot.
@11DNA115 жыл бұрын
Hard? :D That's 4 chords...
@isaacj18015 жыл бұрын
@@11DNA11 I mostly meant the rhythm, not the chords. But maybe I'm wrong. Why don't you make a video of you singing and playing so you can show me how it's done?
@Stringmeme5 жыл бұрын
@@isaacj1801 The rhythm is amazing in this song. Four of the greatest musicians from the grunge scene. Being exposed to the recording process or industry makes me wonder how easy it was for these guys to play their parts while sticking to the metronome. So much is going on, it seems difficult to catch the exact tempo that the song posesses.
@beto15805 жыл бұрын
Not only this: he has to preserve his voice for the entire show. Yet, this tour was very exhausting - take this and his drug abuse, and no wonder his voice never been the same.
@BirdyVII3 жыл бұрын
I think after how many times he’s played it that the guitar and singing wouldn’t be the issue. 1994 was a massive year where they toured basically non-stop after having 1993 off touring.

I play in a 90s Grunge / Hardrock / Stoner Rock Tribute Band and we already play Black Hole Sun, but Spoonman will be the next song we are going to play. You know... there are many tribute bands in Germany as well.. but only a handful have the balls to play stuff like Stoundgarden, Pearl Jam, STP, Alice in Chains, Saliva, Foo Fighters etc. We also took "Dogman" by King's X in our Repertoire... and it turned out to be a good Song choice!
@TheCartman957 жыл бұрын
big respect for you guys, dogman is one of my favorite albums for years...would definitely see you live if I ever get a chance
@Pokerface-tr1ds7 жыл бұрын
Heheheh! Since we live in Germany...this would be the only place to see us. But if you are interested... watch some of our videos. Search for "smalltownindustries sti" here on youtube. We have some live material. Ah and one more piece of advice. DO NOT watch the stuff on a cell phone or a laptop. Make sure it's on a PC. We haven't used a PA... it's just the raw sound of our equipment.
