This guy is a spiritual genius. I hope his work becomes generally well known as we all would benefit enormously.

As an irrelevant aside to a marvelous lecture- in what way is the playing of 600 year old music a copyright infringement? Not to mention they can't spell infringement!

Veronica Eugenia unfortunately people still own these pieces music and sell them on CDs. That's the way the world works, you compose something and then everyone one wants to cash in!!

It might be as simple as virtue being overcome by vice. If there was one valuable thing about the early Christians, it was the understanding of the 7 sins vs the 7 virtues. Our western cultures have lost virtues and any understanding of them. We have, in many ways, turned the deadly sins into virtues. Greed for instance, is now a virtue in our major institutions. Same with lust, gluttony, etc. The problem isn't that the sins exist. It's that they are embraced instead of resisted (or, at least attempting to resist them).

The music - played as an example, not for any commercial purpose - was excised to 'prevent copyright infringement?' What craven lawyerly intervention was this? This usage surely comes under a 'fair use' rule? What - about 40 seconds?

Is there any evidence for this existance? Any claims that cannot be supported by sufficient evidence should be rejected automatically.

Jimbobasaur also since information theory is laying the foundations for most theories including language I think it's highly likely that some where in our biology information simply becomes, and part of what our soul is, i.e Biologically and semiotically we are in constant flux from outside to inside to outside again, we are in a continually positive and negative feedback loop in communication with the outside universe, and this all relies on information exchange as well as representations.

Philosophy is a worthwhile & necessary endeavor, but it's also quite dangerous. There's a very real possibility of totally disappearing up your own ass.

If you cannot deal with it, it is better to give it a miss - you can always revisit later when you have more urgency to broaden your view.
