The Polaris can fit Heavy Fighters since it was shown a Scorpius can fit in there with the changes to making the Polaris bigger. So you will be able to bring some good ships with you.

It's a corvette. Traditionally the smallest ship in a Navy that's still considered to be a proper warship. (The Royal Navy use to refer to warships as being 'Rated'.) It isn't an exploration ship but, as the smallest ship in the fleet, it would be tasked with all the odd jobs that need doing, including scounting/recon - which, in the vastness of space, is more or less the same thing. The Polaris in Star Citizen will/should follow a simple rule... be faster than anything stronger and stronger than anything faster. Get in, hit hard and leave the rest to the big boys.

I don't understand why there is no catwalk in the hall around the Polaris. With that size you can basically only see the bottom half of it Edit: If you enable the eye tracker in third person you can easily get the cam inside the ship and look through walls

I am obsessed with the Polaris. I melted my A2 for the Polaris. The Polaris will be going up in price considerably when it is flyable, which is scheduled for the IAE towards the end of this year, so Invictus (NOW) is your last opportunity to buy this ship at this price.

It's about the size of Voyager compared to people if i'm not mistaken! but it's plating, exterior like especially the rear engines is just gorgeous reminds me of my ROG Strix Hyperion case it would probably look right at home on this ship if the interior design matches the exterior that is... honestly kinda looks alien! far more plates and inlays than the original concept but I think it works for the Polaris looks a bitter thicker too, sadly my org will be an exploration org not a military one but who knows what we might be in the future, one things for sure i'd need someone loaded who has already purchased a pledge to be able to get it the most I can afford is saving for a year to get the carrack in the exploration pack, but who knows if my vids on my alt do well enough!

The Size 9 torps are definitely placeholders. You can tell by the name of the rack being - 10 07 10. So size 10 mount point with 7 size 10 torps. It's the only thing in game with them and not flyable thus the size 9 as a placeholder.

10:46 I’m not sure if all corvettes are capitals in Star citizen since the hammerhead is listed as a corvette but it’s not a capital. They might use it to refer to escort ships - both cap and subcap

Polaris is a "scout" ship (or rather a "patrol" ship really, like a Coast Guard cutter) so it's not really "exploration" in finding new things... but it is VERY similar since it has lots of sensors.

Its just the shell, but that ship looks amazing. Also to be fair its a torpedo boat, so it really should be able to shoot things from really far away, and to do that you need good sensors

For the PU ILW CIG should have an enclosed catwalk, to keep us from jumping out, that goes over the top so we can see the top. It looks like the ship has rails of some kind under the bridge. I wonder if it might be for equipment or extra missiles/torpedoes?

Thats the show floor model, it's on PTU flying around with the fleet guarding the Idris when it docks for the walk on tour. None of the stats in erkul are accurate of the playable version, just this NPC version.

Over the last 3ish years, I’ve come to realize that even the Connie is too big of a ship for any normal solo player. An argument could be made for cargo-runners needing large ships…but yeah. My fear is people are just going to treat these large attack ships like Eclipses. They will be the primo griefing tool. lol. [When I do log in, I spend most of my time in something simple like an Origin 125a or Pisces C8R (Bunker Missions). If I’m ever in large ships, it’s as part of a crew with random ppl doing ERTs or something.]

@@ferrynator15it’s a capital ship rated for a crew of 12 but you can fly it solo, now in the future that will be the only thing that you can do but for when it comes out for awhile you will be able to managed it roughly the same as a carrack.

I hope this design is really just work-in-progress as the front of the ship doesn't look like what we can see from the concept art. I mean, the section where the torpedo and missile launch tubes are located doesn't look good in my opinion. Don't know guys but that section in particular looks pretty outdated. So if anyone can confirm that this is just another "placeholder" just like the Size 9 torps, I'd be grateful. ✌

So yeah... turret nerfs AFTER John Crewe said the Polaris' armament would have a weps pass to make sure it remains relavent. Quote from Berde on Spectrum: "Our beloved Polaris has less S5's than the following ships which are smaller in size: All Connies, A2, both 600i's, Odyssey, Galaxy, Corsair, Redeemer. Same amount of S5's like the following ships which are also smaller in size: Reclaimer, Starfarer Gemini, Liberator Apparently S5's are too much for a capital corvette, but the Connie's and Corsair can keep twice as many S5's with a single pilot flying the ship. The guns of the Polaris are closer to those of a Retaliator while industrial ships like the Galaxy have big firepower and could kill literally destroy a Polaris while the Polaris couldn't do anything to defend itself...

The Polaris is a fast attack corvette meant for hit and runs against other corvettes and frigates, it is in zero ways an exploration ship. However, there _IS_ an RSI ship coming out geared for exploration, the RSI Galaxy, whose design will be informed by the decisions made by the art teams from their work on the Polaris. I believe the intent is that the Galaxy will be intended to be done next, then the Perseus after it. Both the Perseus and Polaris are corvettes, but I don't know if the Perseus will have Capital tier ship systems yet, although it honestly would shock me if it didn't. The Polaris is a capital ship though, its just "I'm in the absolute baby tier of capitals, please don't hit me Idris big brother" type situation.

Ok, let me clear up the term sub-capital since sci-fi is full of misuse of naval ship categorization, and starwars is by far the worst offender for misusing the term sub-capital. In star wars capital ships are broken into 3 types sub-captial, capital, and supercaptial ships. This is not how anywhere else does it, a sub-capital is just any ship that is not capital ship. Which begs the question what is a capital ship. Historical the are your most important ships, which either sport an impressive amount of either firepower or tonnage. Typically ships classified as corvette > frigate > destroyer > cruiser > battle cruiser > battleship/dreadnought > carrier are designated as capital ships. While reserving the title of super for monolithic larger variants of a type of class of ship, such as the UEE retribution being classed as a Super Dreadnaught as its a battleship that's stupendous larger than your typical capital class battleship. Tldr; the Polaris is capital ship not a sub-capital you star wars needs.

Except they listed it a CC as one of the ships that will deliver by next IAE. The monthly report said interior is grey box complete and partially at lod 0 which is when final art is done. This is the NPC version and is flying around with the fleet on PTU. On PTU I saw the completed Idris which will be our station ship tour instead of the Javelin and its awesome. We won't see any of these in game before server meshing likely in AC first.

I have a Polaris, yet it does look very underwhelming, the overall texture/surface finish looks like someone brushed it over with a soft brush, and No tarnishing or battle relicing. kind of fed-up with CIG's New-look Ships. Yet, im sure in the flesh it'll be like a 1st date

this is a static model that doesnt even look finished texture wise, it should have white accents and blue accents like the art of the ship shows.They seem to hold on to this original look which is nice, i was afraid it would get butchered like carrack was. Its a shame the interior is redone because i liked the interior and layout in concept art

The PBR textures on this are very clearly not finished. Everything has one single matte texture. This is basically a graybox version.

Way too much shit going on with the exterior details. You would've thought with all the redesigns they've been doing, they would have toned down all the excessive ridges, wings and lines. They got it right with the smaller Mantis ship. It's surprising this kind so overdone. I mean there's so much going on with the thrusters and wings. Plus the bridge looks so goofy 😫. Why is it soooo long!
