Fascinating - and this is all BEFORE the shuttles are even made.

The first stage is violently ripping them out of the skin of live animals. I guess you missed that part ...

Badminton originated in India and was called Poona which was later taken by British officers who colonised India and took it to Britain which is wrongly described as British game. Badminton along with chess, Kabaddi, kho kho, hockey , etc all originated in India

i noticed they skipped 'extraction' lol, hopefully its not too brutal. Thank god for cheap labour, shuttlecocks would be 100 bucks each if they were made in australia or american.

Where do the feathers come from? How do the animals feel about their feathers being taken out with force? Or are they killed? 1 living being = 1 shuttlecock?
@s1udgeguts4 жыл бұрын
How very interesting, I note how they 'conveniently' skipped over the part where LIVE geese are pinned down, their wings outstretched and DOZENS of feathers are brutally plucked from the wings - despite the fact that ONLY SIX feathers can used from each wing - and the wings then bleed profusely whilst the geese scream in agony. then you have the many thousands of feathers that are thrown in the bin because they are deemed to be no good. Mind you, it's not like we have the technology to make a nylon version! Ooh, and let's not forget how there simply aren't enough geese in the world to supply the many shuttlecock factories, so you might find the cheaper ones using duck feathers (or anything else with white wings).

@@rext0r670 I would like to participate in tournaments such as the Olympics, and I want to know whether there are companies that do not use this inhumane method, and whether the Olympic shuttles are used by companies that use humane methods or not. Thank you.

RSLInternational - please can you describe the welfare standards for your birds? And how traumatic for the birds is the plucking process? Thanks.

Birds are DIGESTED by the time the feathers are PROCESSED
@jonhudson94897 жыл бұрын
Don't think that feathers are just a harmless by product after the bird has been killed for meat. They pluck live birds and leave them in agony. It's incredibly cruel.

Epic Ethical lol the birds were eaten for food so they would have been killed anyways. Ive always wondering what vegans thought about badminton.

They aren't killed though, the birds are well and truly alive when the dozen or so feathers are forcefully plucked from each wing
