I’m a designer, and I used to get asked to provide services for a fraction of my rates, almost exclusively by acquaintances who claimed to be friends. I’d reply with a sketch of the most blah, paired-down, uninspired design, and a cover letter stating that for what they wanted to pay, this design was what I’d be able to provide. That’d usually shut them down. I also never had one of the CBers step up and pay my (very reasonable) fee. I’m mostly retired now, but it’s still a hard NOPE when someone wants something free or super lowball price.
