Yeah. My mom had an outburst at a teen employee at a store once because her card didn't go through the first time. (System error.) Because of that, and her worry that it might have charged her twice, she nit picked everything the poor guy did, and later called the owner personally (used to work there herself) and complained about him. Truth is, he had people complain about him a lot, but compared to other people i've seen work there, he was actually very patient with every person, if at least a bit stressed. All he really did was ask my mom to calm down for screaming at him and my dad. I was pissed off at my mom, so i went off on her in the car for her poor behaviour. She lectured me on how "employees should never tell a customer to calm down" and "he sucked at his job" i was pissed at her the rest of the day.

Yep, that's why I like the last one, because in life even if people do rotten things to you, they have their reasons, flaws and feelings, and everyone does something stupid at some point, so its good to avoid taking stuff personally all the time, and try to get to the bottom of whatever's going on and resolve it kindly.

I remember when I first got in with an mlm, it was so bizarre. Their whole concept was "It's running your own business" and all (which my sister and I wanted to do), and when we started, we were told about weekly seminars and such to teach us how to create our own business and be entrepreneurs etc. The first red flag came after the first week we went to the seminar, when the guy "explained" the whole concept of network marketing in no simple words whatsoever. I thought, hey maybe its fine, I'll find out more as I go. The second week we go, another person goes up and again "explains" network marketing... in the exact same words. There were people *religiously* going to these seminars to hear the same thing over and over, and its not even like an introductory class just for beginners, everyone is expected, and I'm like "what manner of kool-aid is this?" We stayed on for a bit trying to figure it out and nobody could explain simply what this whole thing was, just reciting catch-words and so on. We got some samples of some of the products at some points, which tbh were sub-par at best (the juice pouch things were decent). At the end of the day, it was just a sales-person gig. You sell their products fullstop. That is all it is. (Oh, and get points if you can get more people to sell their products). Yeah, they could've just said that tbh without all the ado.

The last lady didn't appear to be malicious just confused. She reminds me of my dad 84 when he expects me to know something just bc of my age. It's like his brain has gotten stuck on expecting me to know and is having issues transitioning to another option. Or even me when my anxiety gets so bad my brain gets stuck like an old record that keeps repeating the same line over and over again. When she kept asking what do you mean don't work here. Her brain was temporarily stuck on the evidence showing he did and the she probably got so frazzled the repeat just kept at it. I think it's a good reminder that when we get in these situations its not always a EM sometimes its just a confused individual having issues processing everything at the same speed we are.

8:00 Holy Shit you're so right about that. My old 'job', I was in a position where I really wanted to learn marketing so I could well learn to market my creative writing. So I get into this interview where it all goes well. Seemingly pleasant working environment, but I was so naive. The job was for an "add agent". Then I learned what it was all about. We were calling people all over the world, that we would get them to do Forex trading. I won't go into detail, but the whole thing was really shady. Calling random people using a fake name, having to explain to them, where you got their number, before selling them some service that was supposedly in "Amsterdam" it wasn't. 2000 km away from Amsterdam in fact, in a whole different country. Of course, I was naive back then and wanted to be a good employee. I did great at first, then the whole thing started to stink, with the whole Covid thing. I got sent home until further notice. The further notice was me getting my final paycheck. I felt strangely relieved. Intuitively i knew I never wanted to set foot in there again. Couple months later, I met with a friend of mine who works in a call centre and she asked me where I used to work. I told, her and I explained to her her where it was. Afterwards she told me it was basically an illegal company using illegal databases of phone numbers (probably stolen) selling them a bogus service. Note to self. Always do a background check.

After watching a few of these videos, I finally figured out the secret of "I don't work here." Karens can't understand the concept of helping someone if they're not getting paid for it, so if they see a random person helping another random person, they don't even notice the lack of uniform and just assume they're getting paid to help as an employee. I mean, why would anyone go out of their way to be nice to someone if they don't get anything in return?
