r/Idontworkherelady The entitled Karen in today's story is completely off her rocker. OP lives in an apartment above a restaurant. The Karen assumes that OP is a waitress, so she follows him to his front door and then breaks into his house, demanding to see his manager because he refused to serve her! But there's no manager here... just some dude's apartment. If you like this video and want to see more, subscribe to my channel for more daily Reddit videos!

My dad served 22 years in the air force, did 3 tours in Vietnam and left a MSGT. He mellowed as he got back to civilian life but there were a few triggers for him and the biggest was me his only daughter. He would flip if anyone was hurting me and always stand up for me. I am now the person sent in if my husband cannot resolve a situation. I miss my dad, he passed due to agent orange exposure side effects, but I am thankful he left me with the ability to stand up for myself and my family.

@@deadmonsterhead4507 It was chosen as their national animal. I suspect because Americans consider the Bald Eagle to be 'prestigious, regal, dignified and civilized.' And they want to consider themselves all those things as well. Comparatively, Canada's national animal is the Loon. Very appropriate, considering that Loons are quiet, pleasant and very friendly if you're calm around them. But make them mad and they'll go after you like soldiers storming a hill. Very Canadian like. (They're also the reason our $1 coin is commonly referred to as a "Loonie.")

I've had many "I don't work here" moments over the years... My normal attire is slacks in either black or tan, paired with a three-button polo shirt in a single color; add to that short, neatly trimmed hair and a beard, both liberally sprinkled with gray. I look like middle management at every chain store in the history of ever, and I know it. These instances have been, without exception, short and not unpleasant. Until last week, that is. I was doing grocery shopping and a woman stopped me- by grabbing the collar of my shirt from behind. Woman: "Where the HELL are your damned oven bags?" Me: "I'm not 100% sure, but probably in the aisle that has the word 'bags' on the sign in five inch letters," I told her, pointing. Woman: "If that's how you talk to customers it's no wonder you have such lousy employees, you should set an example." Me: "I don't wor-" Woman: "And another thing, why aren't the restrooms open? I know all about Corona, you can't get it from toilets! You should open the restrooms!" Me, getting louder from irritation: "HEY! I don't-" Woman: "Don't interrupt me! You need to learn some manners! This is NOT how you treat people!" At this point an actual employee heard the ruckus and came over. I've never gotten his name, but I see him every time I shop there. He's always polite and cheerful, with a very easy-going manner; you'd have to be a real prick to NOT like him. Employee: "Ma'am, can I help you with- " Woman, looking even more offended: "Eww! No! Go away! I don't nmtake help from BROWN people!" The employee and I shared a long look, neither of us could believe she'd said that. I could see he was seriously offended, but I also knew if he said what he obviously wanted to he'd lose his job. I decided it was time to do my good deed for the day. I have a talent for being annoying- have since birth. Mostly it's via pranks, puns, and thoroughly tasteless and inappropriate jokes. However, there's also The Noise. I save it for special occasions because it straight ravages my throat. It's a high, sharp shriek made on a long inhalation. My wife says it sounds like a velociraptor having his balls stepped on. Think Jim Carrey making that noise from 'Dumb and Dumber', but cranked up to 11. This... woman... got it full in the face for as long as I could hold it (18 seconds or so, I was counting), from a distance of about four inches. I drew a crowd from several nearby aisles. The noise stops when my lungs are too full to inhale more, which gave me plenty of wind to unload on her. Me: "Listen here, you racist trash! *I DON'T WORK HERE! NEVER HAVE! GO AWAY!* " Woman: "Well I have never-" Me: "Probably never will, either! Who'd want to, with attitudes like yours?" Her face went a deep red. I don't know if it was embarrassment or rage, because she was cut off by a sweet little old lady pushing her cart around us. The old lady reached out to pat her arm. Old Lady: "Life's hard for everybody these days... No need to be a bitch about it, dear." Myself and a bunch of people watching burst out in laughter. The woman grabbed her purse out of her cart and bolted, leaving a full load of groceries sitting in the aisle. The employee told me it was worth having to put it all back just to see her get put in her place, because she was a regular customer and ALWAYS acted like that. Hearing that made it worthwhile, even if I did have a raw throat for two days.

@Nathan_Talisien 4 жыл бұрын
@@KhaoticVakr I'll try, but I'm not a great teacher, lol. It's not a hard noise to make, but it IS hard on the throat. What you're doing is inhaling; you need to try to bring the air high into the back of your throat. Try making an "h" noise, like when you blow on your hands to warm them up but in reverse. Next, sharply raise the pitch to an "a" sort of sound; it's like trying to imitate a high-pitch child's voice. Make it as loud as you can; then, while at max volume, inhale as hard as you can- then more forceful the inhale, the louder it will get. Have a warm, soothing drink handy when you're practicing; when you're doing it anything close to right it's going to hurt, and probably end in a coughing fit.

Overall Moral of these stories... when a Karen is being a Karen, be assertive not passive. They assume everyone will bow down to them, but when you put them in their place and confront them they USUALLY back down and realize they have no power with you. "And under our state law" no... its "state mandates" or "state guidelines"... none of the mask guidelines or mandates have been voted into law. The officer recited the mandate, not the law. Also the one about the lady entering OP's apartment... yeah that b*** would have been physically thrown out my door. She is clearly aggressive and hysterical, and the owner (or renter) has the right to defend their home.
@alearnedman
@alearnedman 4 жыл бұрын
Couple things. That particular story was a bit circumstantial since the Karen was basically physically assaulting the man's wife. For most of us the majority of Karens we are exposed to more fall into the category of jist feeling entitled enough to be demanding and very rude, and escalation on our parts even just to the point of yelling like he did can easily backfire, particularly since the majority of Karens tend to be white women and if you happen to be like myself (a dark skinned man) that can easily lead to much more trouble coming your way. While you aren't incorrect about the law vs. mandate distinction, it's largely semantics for the practical situation. The business still pretty much has to follow the mandate, and is well within it's rights to not serve someone for choosing to disregard it. Also, pretty sure the speed at which the trespasser both barged in and out of the apartment coupled with the fact that the person who lived there was dealing with a likely breakable plate she had promised to return makes it unlikely physically throwing her out ever was an option, in those specific circumstances anyway, though of course it's true she would have been fully within her rights to do so.

Karens differ from country to country. In Greece for example you would hardly see any person behave in such a ridiculous manner and claim he is on the right. There's also a difference in how we deal with fights. In America fights are typically an endless tirade about "you said and I said". In Greece we yell for a few minutes, maybe throw some punches and kicks to blow off some steam and then we continue our day.
