the 3rd one. NEVER do improvements to a house you do not own, a bit of gardening sure, nothing else. unfortunately my father has fallen for this sort of thing twice in the last ~40 years. where he agreed with the owners to 'rent to by' and started making improvements to the house before any actual ownership had changed hands. both times the seller found a way out of the contract (yes they were with contracts, just not very good ones) and ended up kicking him out and selling the place for more. the place I was around for he had done a lot of landscaping, re-sealed and painted the pool, replaced all the pool equipment, re-did the bathroom, knocked out a hallway wall to make the living area larger (including all the structural work required to remove a load bearing wall), repainted the entire interior as well as giving the kitchen a freshen up (new appliances and cupboard doors). it would have cost him 10's of thousands of $ in materials alone, not counting the many many hours it took him.

2nd story: People on probation have to have permits to travel. It's in the standard conditions of probation in each state. I'd have to take the story about how horrible the ex- was compared to Jason since first he committed a crime, got probation, and then violated his probation conditions (which is a crime in itself.) Also, the story says the crazy ex was arrested - it doesn't say she was a convicted criminal, unlike Jason. Sounds like Jason's friends may have had an axe to grind with the 'ex', but Jason is the criminal first here.

1st story: This isn't all that uncommon even today. For context, my family volunteers with DAV (Disabled American Veterans), mainly the DAV helps veterans file paperwork and navigate the breaucratic nightmare that is the VA. That being said, had an instance that falls into this category. Soldier signs up, gets through basic and AIT, gets deployed. When he left for deployment he had a re-fi mortgage on his house, but since the army direct deposits pay, he just set up an auto-pay for his mortgage. Bank of America decided the easiest way to make extra cash was to process all debits against an account, THEN process any deposits. As a result, you might have deposited $100,000,000.00 into your account that morning, but the coffee you bought that afternoon will net you an NSF charge. Our soldier in this story had almost $2k per month yanked by the bank monthly in NSF charges, even though he never actually tried to spend a penny. The bank would process his mortgage, utilities, car payment and other bills, and then deposit his military pay. Here's the catch, while dudes military pay was plenty to cover all the bills, the NSF charges would be credited to the bank first and then any "remainder" would be applied to the debits the bank had already tried to process once. There wouldn't be enough to cover the debits plus the $25 /ea NSF charges, so at least one or two debits would get another NSF charge. After 2 weeks, those would become "Extended" NSF charges at $75 /ea. 6 months overseas and dude comes home to a foreclosure, repossessed car, and the bank claiming he still owed them another 3 grand for NSF fees. E5 pay at the time was $3600 / month. Dudes bills would have come to $2800 / per month... This was the big assed scandal about Bank of America, and since the army *REQUIRED* direct deposit for your pay, you couldn't just change banks. In the end, roughly 15000 soldiers lost their homes during the 2008 "Housing crash", because the bank couldn't figure out that they had already been paid and were required to acknowledge it.

Now when a developer wants property they do it through eminent domain. Just buy off a few city officials, have them file the paperwork and get it through the system, pay a pittance for the land and all done nice and legal.

I mean they couldnt reach john at all and so they assumed he was dead its kinda hard to get permission from a dead guy so i can understand the mix up but the mayor is all to blame and should have done more

This one line from the last story that r/slash didn't read out loud: "He kissed me and I rubbed his c*** while he was with her." Uhm, I don't think me, myself, wanted to know that, let alone the poor girl that OP knows private/personal stuff about. Thankfully these stories are somewhat anonymous, otherwise I don't know how I'd handle it if someone told all of reddit about my past trauma

First Story I have no doubt the mayor knew John was alive and was hoping that John would stay away even those it be 5 years and OP grandpa came back from war and saw what they was doing and the mayor try get a cut of the build but in the end he went to jail and had to pay John back and second story: Jason ex was horrible and I bet she got away with alot of the stuff cause she was a female, that a female could literally destroy a man life easily and when Jason died, she still was attack whatever he had include his son, trying take everything Jason own and come to find out Jason own half of the house she live in and if she just left OP and his wife and kids alone, they would let it go but she went to far and FIND AROUND AND FIND OUT

That last person needs to proceed with extra caution! Yes, she should absolutely expose that scumbag ex of hers but his current wife needs to be handled with care. If she is a victim of SA then the last thing she needs is more trauma connected with s3x. Do NOT show her videos unless she specifically asks to see proof! Her mental health is going to take a significant hit anyway… she married a man she thinks she can trust and he’s not only a cheater but a shameless, remorseless, and conscience-less cheater. He has a history of some pretty vulgar behavior for someone who claims to follow the beliefs I assume he does… considering his wife wears religious garments. And he’s doing this to a woman who must have struggled a great deal just to enter into a physical relationship and who is actually trying to give him some of what he wants. And she’s still so traumatized from her assault that she has a physical reaction to s3x? Dude, get her therapy and quit trying to bang her until she’s ready! It’s infuriating how many people seem to think s3x is owed to them when another party is uncomfortable with it, or treat someone like they’re the problem if they want to wait. S3x is not a need.

Vaginismus is sometimes said to be a subconscious warning signal that the woman is with a man she should not be reproducing with. Though in this case, her traumatic past would explain it as well, or a combination of both.

story 3: Dude, imagine fafo on a renovator and taking complete advantage of them when they have a family of high energy kids and a unhinge teen. I'm sure they regrated doing that, even thou it was not legal what could the people do that wanted the house really do? tell the cops why their house is in shambles? yeah, then they would have to explain why they did it. so I'm sure they were stuck with the damage done and had to do it themselves.

The op in the last story should be careful, there is a good chance they live in a country where they believe in honor killings especially against women. Sometimes a brother would do it to his own sister just to keep the honor of the family even if it was just a rumer.

Something to note about individuals in the stem field, is that a significant percentage are on the autism spectrum. this can equate to inappropriate responses to social nuances, and while this may indeed be trolling, to to assume that they're response is indicative of fascism and white supremacy is not only naive but in my opinion a form of bullying. These stem students did not proactively seek out this lgbtq survey, they were approached and they responded. it is also well known that support for lgbtq+* movements and ideals are low in stem social groups. This survey is naive bullying at best or a form of entrapment and social humiliation at worst.

Last OP: tame advice, Rslash. We can do better. 😈 Let my call up my atheistic minor knowledge of Islam... This guy prays. *Where does he do his Friday prayers* (tend to be the biggest of the week)? Talk to his imam. Tell him he's been describing his wife's nakedness to non-relatives. That's KIND OF A BIG DEAL in Islam, certainly for this guy who had made a big deal out of being pro-modesty. I guarantee his poor hijabi wife would be distraught to know what he's been saying, and would consider it a further violation, which is why OP should treat her very gently. None of this is her fault.
