RSV4 | How To Change Engine Oil Fast

How to change engine oil on the Aprilia RSV4 & Tuono V4.
Engine oil capacity recommended on the service manual is 4.1 liters. You will only need about 3.8 - 3.9 liters, so you could get away with only 4 quarts. Although, it is strongly recommended to purchase a spare quart to keep on handy, as the Aprilia V4 engine consumes oil and you will need to refill periodically before the service interval.
In addition, the service manual oil level check suggests to ride the bike for about 10 miles to bring the oil to operating temperature and recheck the level after a few seconds. By following this procedure you might find that you need approximately 100ml of additional oil. This is why it is strongly recommended to have a fifth quart. Do not screw in the dipstick when checking the oil level.
Service manual recommends to perform an oil change every 6000 miles. I prefer to change oil every 3000 miles. Based on the rate the engine consumes oil, at least on my riding style, within those 3000 miles I use the remaining fifth quart for oil refills. Another reason why you should have a space quart.

@@mercow1242 Yes. Aprilias in general are known to burn oil. Nothing crazy though. The worst refill I’ve seen is about 500ml within 2000 miles of hard riding. My buddies RS660 consumed 500ml with not as hard riding within 4000 miles. Either way, I would not wait until 6000 miles to check and refill oil.

Thanks for the video, that was very interesting! I love the way you've changed over the Aprilia 'a' on the side fairing. Did you have any issues when you swapped them over? - Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

@@cliveshalice8490 Removing the original ‘a’ is not hard. Just use a heat gun or a hair dryer and peel it off. Adding the black ‘a’ is very tricky and it can be ruined very easily if not done correctly. You will need painters tape to align it and hold it place. But even then it’s tricky to keep it aligned. The problem is that once it sticks on, it’s on. You can’t remove it and realign it. Thats why you have to get it right the first time or you will need a new decal. ✌️

I do the same thing but I just use a strap wrench. It fits without problem.

@@viktorskarlatov8227 I have all types of oil filter wrenches, but the strap wrench in this case is best because it wont damage the filter while tightening it. ✌️

Has anyone ever had to remove the evap canister on one of these? Is it necessary when you reflaah?

@@nameless5r When you install Gabros map, the EVAP canister is disabled. So removing it only offers weight savings and more airflow at the radiator. I will be doing a video on how to remove it soon. ✌️

@@Amir_sham Castrol is based in the UK but Castrol is more of an oil marketer and not an oil manufacturer. Castrol is owned by BP which does not manufacture oil either. BP outsources oil from different companies like Abnoc from Abu Dhabi, etc. Castrol then adds the additives and sells the oil under their brand. And this is why I don’t mind much what brand of oil or what brand of gasoline I use. They all come from the same barrel. It’s the additives company you choose. ✌️

BIGGEST MISTAKE EVERY SINGLE PERSON MAKES when changing the oil & filter on a v4 rsv4 or tuono v4.. takes only 10 more minutes, remove and drain the oil cooler, there's a load of old shit oil in there that doesn't get drained, ALSO any metal fibres from the engine get stuck in there aswell SO you've just mixed shit oil with your nice new oil. sorry IDIOT move

@@nialbarnsley4108 Then I guess me and every single mechanic is an idiot, because no one in their right mind will remove the oil cooler to drain it on every oil change. I can see that every two years or 12000 miles but not on every oil change.
