Strapping the brake leaver and leaving makes the caliber pistons move out and the piston seals relax back so you remove the ‘knock off’ movement, this movement is built in, using the piston seals as a spring by their twisting action as the brakes are used, this also acts as a self adjustment as the pads and discs wear down. Doing this will add a bit of drag but usually few corners or bumps makes the discs push the pads back a bit again 👍

All the information was exactly what I was looking for! I even have speed bleeders, so I was very happy when you mentioned that!!

A little trick I did was to turn the bike on while bleeding it with ABS OFF!

Great tip. Thanks.

you should change back to a normal bleeder and fill the system from the bottom with a syringe (when you are working on the master zylinder)

so you say the Brembo's are better that the stock? Holy fuck. Could you say something about the Aprilia build quality & reliability?
@PSYgoaHEAD7 жыл бұрын
Jayden Valentine the stock is brembo :-)

Getting ready to change the master on my aprilia after I found that I have a very small leak where the plunger is
@ShaunNielsen7 жыл бұрын
Did you install a new MC? If so what kind? Or did you just repair the original with a new seal kit?
@savageCI7 жыл бұрын
Shaun Nielsen I'm going back with oem master. I haven't put it on yet but will do so this week.the original started leaking very so slightly around the plunger. I didn't see a seal or rebuild kit on af1 site and after talking to them didn't think brembo offered one or I would have went that route.

Can you make an IN-FRAME CNC'ed cam gear holder for me? Many thanks

digs bollx The standard aprilia tool will work, with just a little modification.

speed bleeders are garbage in my experience, if there is decent air in the system you just end up compressing the air rather than popping the spring, vacuum bleeders are the way to go :)
@ShaunNielsen7 жыл бұрын
That's a shame - I've had nothing but good experience with speed bleeders. I have one of every size so I can quickly and easily bleed the brakes on any brand, front or rear. I also have a vacuum bleeder for big jobs, like the linked brakes on a VFR800, or the ABS lines on an RSV4, which is much faster than the speed bleeder.
@electricsnut7 жыл бұрын
Shaun Nielsen it could be because I am usually doing brake line upgrades also generally and there is too much air but yeah never had success with them or they just make things take longer. Ive used them on a MT09 and VFR800 with combined braking. You haven't done a real brake job until you have dealt with that Honda stupid braking system lol

Agreed - I used the vacuum pump when I replaced all the rubber brake lines on my 2002 VFR800 with braided steel.
