It's undeniable the chemistry that used to be on the podcast. Anchored by Gus and Bernie with a rotating cast of younger employees, or back in the day when it was mostly just the OG dudes. I listen back to these ones every now and then and honestly, listening to them argue about 10 year old ios updates is still entertaining. Really miss Burnie.

Definitely the best moment of the year irl

Gus has pretty much perfected the art of translating what it is Gavin is trying to say. For movies I'd add The Conjuring.-though I agree it's not movie of the year material, but it needs a mention just like Mama. And for TV... Criminal Minds is always pretty solid. Other than that.... The U.S. Defense Department has been using the term "Warfighter" to describe military personnel involved in combat situations since at least the late 1980's. So while it may still sound silly, it's origin far predates that of G.R.A.W. (2006)

I really don't want to sound like a dick (that's why I'm posting it here instead of in the video's comment section), but the video of the guy seeing his wife after surgery seems a bit strange to me. Maybe the internet has spoiled me, but my through process went like this: ° Watching the video: Awww! That's just so heart warming. ° Reading the description: Oh... Those guys seem to put a lot of effort into getting support to adopt a child. ... A child... Wait a second! ° Re watching the video: "'Do we have children together?' - 'Not yet.'" Summary: We have a a couple who apparently can't get children. However, they have trouble adopting children, because it is really expensive. We also have a anaesthesia themed video; THE theme for videos if you want them to go viral and you don't have a cat or puppy available. The description of this video has a link to the family's fundraiser for their adoption efforts and the topic just so happens to be hinted at in the video at one point. Now, I have done my research and apparently the amount they are asking for adds up nicely for adopting two children from Uganda. I am also in no position to question their desire to adopt a child. So all I am doing here is being an arsehole and question the authenticity of the video. Phew! Glad I got this out of my system. Moving on.

***** the brain is actually a really amazing thing .. it can pull out memories from like 10 years ago in no time. i dont know how that works
@kelerews11 жыл бұрын
Usually when something is out of place that day. At least that's what happens to me. For instance, I can remember clearly when I sharted in preschool.
@iluvbbqtacos11 жыл бұрын
Memory isn't a localized function. We do know that the hippocampus plays a major role in long-term memory (LTM) formation. However, a researcher studying memory discovered that it wasn't important where he lesioned a brain, but rather how much he lesioned. While this isn't 100% accurate, it's a pretty nice statement. We do realize now of course that certain areas play a bigger role in memory, and that there are different types fo memory, but memory as a whole is spread throughout the brain. A common misconception is that memories are just formed and waiting to be recalled, but that's not how it works. Every time you recall something you are rebuilding the memory from what you still remember. After you have recalled it, the memory then deconstructs itself again. It's why you might tell 3 different versions of the same story. You might not necessarily be lying, but you have recalled the memory 3 different times and each time either includes or excludes bits during reconstruction. Ahh, that feels good :)

*Just trying to think of shows that deserve nominations judging from the quality of their seasons this year alone from respected critics and viewer reception, factoring in number of viewers as well:* Breaking Bad, House of Cards, Game of Thrones, The Walking Dead, The Blacklist, South Park, Justified, Suits, Sherlock, Arrested Development, Archer, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, Top Gear (BBC), Doctor Who, The Office, Sons of Anarchy, Mad Men, Modern Family, Community, Louie, The Colbert Report, Homeland, Supernatural, Orange Is the New Black, Vikings, Almost Human, and American Horror Story. *As for Movies of the year and factoring in audience, viewer reception, as well as critic reception:* Catching Fire, Frozen, Out of the Furnace, Inside Llewyn Davis, The Hobbit Pt 2, American Hustle, Her, Secret Life of Walter Mitty, Wolf of Wall Street, Dallas Buyers Club, All is Lost, 12 Years a Slave, Captain Phillips, Gravity, Prisoners, Blue Caprice, The World's End, Star Trek: Into Darkness, and Mud. And in no particular order. I find it funny how many of this years hit dramatic films were bogged down in poor reviews from viewers while many of the Super Hero films did not. Movies like Mud that scored 90+ from avid film goers and professional reviewers and critics dropped down to around 75 when the casual movie goer hit the theater, while movies like Iron Man 3, which is almost collectively considered to be a rather 'meh' movie from both critics and movie goers alike retains an 85.

The long and short of what's happening with the cat is that there is an area of the brain that processes visual input called the occipital lobe (may be different in cats, not my field) and each part of that area represents a specific point of your visual field. They are *basically* recording the activity from those points and then using that to compile the video. The fuzziness in the video comes from a lack of recording resolution that should improve with technology. I'm on my phone now so I can't find it but I think a while back they replicated this with people in some capacity.
@myxxnamexxis1310 жыл бұрын
Sorry, one of th last conversation bothered me a bit. Evolution isn't about getting the best traits, it's about keeping the traits that helped a species survive during a specific period of time in a specific environment. Also, it's all random, so even if there could have been a more efficient trait at the time, the likelihood of getting the right genetic mutation to get that trait is incredibly high. It's not like everything is planed out, everything is based on chance and proficiency.
@Crashomer11510 жыл бұрын
wouldnt the "best traits" for a species be the ones that help it survive
@myxxnamexxis1310 жыл бұрын
No. I'm talking about the best possible trait vs the best trait for this environment at this time. Say there is a frog that lives in a jungle and has many predators on the ground, but not in high places. So, the "best trait" may be for it to have flight. It doesn't mean that's what they'll get. They might just get the ability to jump really high, or the ability to climb really well. So they are keeping the "best trait" that they randomly got. Evolution isn't planned out, it just happens. It's luck or the draw and survivor of the fittest. So that's why people don't have the ability to fly or to see ultra violet light. These are traits that never randomly occurred in our DNA mutations, or if they did, they weren't helpful during the time period they did occur. This is a little hard to explain through the messaging system of youtube comments, but I hope I cleared myself up.
@SirMonkeySuit10 жыл бұрын
Oh come on, don't be one of these guys. Why should it bother you, it's a podcast conversation. They don't bring these topics up to intentionally "annoy" and/or "offend" people. Gavin was right in that the animal kingdom, the females go for the alpha male.
@myxxnamexxis1310 жыл бұрын
SirMonkeySuit Okay Gavin said one thing right - one thing that doesn't relate to the thing I was mentioning. The thing that bothers me is Burnie was leading the conversation, and usually Burnie and Gus are the guys with the facts. Since Burnie was wrong and no one was saying anything to correct him I was annoyed.
