Fraggle Rock and the A Team. I would happily sit down and watch both those programmes right now.

I remember watching the Miami Vice episode that night (19 January). It was the one where Crockett and Tubbs managed to track down and kill the Colombian drug dealer Esteban Calderón after he fled to the Carribean. Calderón also orchestrated the killing of Lt. Rodriguez in the previous episode. (TV's Starsky, Paul M. Glaser directed that episode.) Crockett and Tubbs' next commanding officer, Lt. Castillo, would debut in the next episode. The A Team episode aired that night was part two of the episode "The Bend In The River", where Hannibal and his team were in the Amazon jungle hunting for treasure and at the same time search for a missing treasure seeker. Eventually they end up uncovering the construction of an illegal nuclear plant being constructed by a neo-Nazi crime syndicate. It is then up to the A Team to put this nuclear operation out of business.

Here in Britain Miami Vice was on BBC1 but did not start until later in 1985 as far as I know. The A Team was on ITV at the time. Fraggle Rock was on ITV and made by TVS from what I remember. Thank you of course!!
@nowster Жыл бұрын
Fraggle Rock had main sections (below ground) made in the US, and regionalised link sections for each market. TVS did the UK's Fulton Mackay lighthouse keeper links and put the result on the ITV network.

The implication in this video is that Miami Vice was already on RTE from the very start of 1985, or even as far back as late 1984.
@Art-is-craft2 ай бұрын
@@80sandretrogubbins25 The reason for that was that RTE did not produce that many original dramas. And to ensure it did not have too many British programs it would buy American shows. UK tv on the other hand produced lots of original content.
@80sandretrogubbins252 ай бұрын
@@Art-is-craft Fair enough but from the point of view of Miami Vice specifically, it had only launched in America in September 1984, so RTE were quick to it.
@Art-is-craft2 ай бұрын
@@80sandretrogubbins25 RTE would have relationships with American broadcasts. Which meant the shows options would have been very quick. Shows might have been pitched even before the cameras started rolling.

So many US shows. How did we not end up with American accents.

I suppose as an American, I ask myself that everyday. I suppose some accents don't always happen naturally.

@@joemurphy2177 The reason why kids did not end up with American accents in Ireland was due to the fact they watched limited amounts of TV. In later years the tv was like a nanny as mummy was at work.

Curious that the film accompanying the national anthem is all cut transitions, whereas some of the shot changes might have benefited from slower dissolves.
@barbaraannecortina78995 жыл бұрын
you've ruined it not only by having the 'TV CLASSICS 2013' caption superimposed on the video track but also having 'TV CLASSICS THANKS FOR WATCHING' at the end! Just no need for it!
