if you look at benchmarks even 2080ti cant give you constant 144fps on all games, only for moba/esport csgo and similar games, metro, lara croft, even old witcher runs on 80 90 fps. So imo 1440p era is not here yet, 1080p 60fps is the way and sweet spot for most people

I have a 165hz 1440p monitor with a 2080 and I can reach the specs of my monitor easily on all high settings. I have a fairly aggressive max overclock on my 2080 though and I've tweaked some settings in NVIDIA control panel, which is the reason I believe I see close to 200fps in most games at high settings. You have to remember these videos are on a stock card with no overclock and a stock CPU with no overclock. Also, this test was done with a stock 8700k. You'd see a drastic difference pairing this card with an overclocked 9700k or 9900k. There's honestly no point in getting high end hardware if you don't know how to overclock everything in your system because one of the main reasons for the price on these high end items is how well they overclock.

@@NostalgicMem0ries I would recommend pairing a 2080TI with a 165hz 1440p monitor or a 240hz 1080p monitor. The 2080TI is an absolute beast of a card and can easily hit those frames consistently if you pair it with a good overclocked CPU and you overclock your GPU to its max. I don't know why anyone would get a 2080TI if they're just going to run it "as is" out of the box and not even mess with any settings in NVIDIA control panel as well as overclocking it. This is an enthusiast card, it's not marketed for the average person, hence the hefty price tag. I have an Asus ROG Strix 2080TI on the way right now to replace my 2080 that I'm selling to a friend and I consistently get over 140FPS on my 165hz 1440p panel with just the 2080 because I know how to overclock and what settings in the control panel to tweak to maximize performance while having my in game settings remain on high or ultra for all the games I play. For example, I get anywhere from 160-180FPS in Black Ops 4 with my 2080. The 2080TI is meant for 1440p 144hz panels.

You have to remember that this is a stock representation. My 2080 that I overclocked gets better numbers at this same resolution and settings than the card in this video. It also doesn't help that he went with the MSI card which uses the same PCB as the reference cards. Basically he got one of the worst 2080TI's available, paired with a last gen processor that isn't overclocked, amd also didn't overclock his card. Like I said, my overclocked 2080 at 1440p gets around 140FPS-200FPS on high settings on every game I play. I run it on a 165hz 1440p monitor with GSYNC.

Actually that's not the case in my opinion. It's not worth turning everything to ultra, which usually results in a *huge* fps drop while sometimes not even providing visible differences unless you literally bring out the magnifying glass. It's such a big deal that's being overlooked that even big youtubers have been doing videos on the topic. I mean if you need high anti aliasing while running 4K for instance... what are you running 4K on? A 70'' display from 1 meter distance? Dropping that shadow setting from ''ultraomfgwtflolz'' to ''high'' which is basically an invisible difference during gameplay but results in an easy 20 extra fps as another example. I'm going to go full out here and say that everything on ultra is *extremely* overrated. That being said... I run 1080p 144hz on a VA panel mostly ;p

When I hear someone saying 1080ti is a waste for Full HD I just laugh. Even 2080 Ti can't handle 144 fps in all games.
