Agreed, 8GB VRAM is just not enough anymore. I am sure they have enough space in most laptops to add 2 more VRAM chips, but instead we have the same 8GB VRAM, just upgraded to GDD7. Not much of an excitement when it comes to laptops.

gdd7 is a new technology. New technology is expensive just look at the ultra core motherboards, gddr5 is very cheap at this point around 2 dollars, but gddr6 is 5 time more expensive around 10 dollars, but gddr7 is going to be way more expensive that just 2x more than gddr6 cuz its the newwest thing on the market that only nvidia will use at this time. (btw the chip prices i listed is per 2 gb) so lets say gddr7 is going to be 2x more expensive (even though it will be more). Then we get a price of 20$ then multiply that by 6 to get a full 12gb gddr7 kit of vram chips and that will be 120$ JUST FOR THE VRAM and your expecting for then to put that in a budget 300 gpu when the most expensive thing is the die itself. The only thing you can do is go amd or intel for gddr6 and cheaper vram which will less benefit the cost of the actual gpu. There is no oversolution unless you just want a 4060 with gddr7 12gb.

@@CubikingFBGaming then get amd and problem solved. Nvidia is supposted to inovate thats why they choose speed over capacity and over time tech gets cheaper so finally you will get cheap gddr7 but at that point nvidia will make gddr7x for the high end cards

@omegacatscripter GDDR7 will make an extremely negligible difference when thrown on an 8GB VRAM GPU. GDDR7 has around 30% faster transfer speeds than GDDR6. But first of all, NVIDIA already downgrades the bandwidth on laptops. On top of it, what's the point of having more transfer speeds of GDDR7 if its going to get throttled at only 8GB of VRAM ? That won't translate to much if you just gave 8GB to play around with. 8GB VRAM is just an utter waste of the GDDR7's capabilities. Its like putting an F1 car onto a 100m long track and asking it to run at its top speeds.

@qcsrm4241 that changes nothing from what i said nvidia sells inovation and its still a step up from gddr6. Just as i mentioned gddr7 is expensive. So in your logic you want the same 4060 with 12 gb a 10% faster increase in fps and no over change. It just wont be a 5060 any more if it has more than 8gb because itll cost way more and be a 5060 ti or 5070. And its still faster driving a f1 than a normal car isnt it?

Still 175w on the 5090. Was hoping for a higher power draw since that’s just as important than the GFX card tier itself. Surely they could have at least squeezed in 185w which has already been proven to work by people brave enough to shunt mod their machines.
