How well did this work a year later, is it a long term solution or something that will only last a little while? The product in this video has been retired and replaced with another by the manufacturer but it's more expensive.

Not well, I now use glue-on carbonised rubber pads from china. About $10 aud for a mixed pack of 150.

@@TheAussieRepairGuy thanks for the reply. Unfortunately the keypad I need to repair is for a synth and the ones you can get from China are the wrong shape. I basically need something I can create a short thin line with (about the width of a PCB track) if you have any recommendations? I saw Jaycar has a pen but it's $40
@TheAussieRepairGuy
@TheAussieRepairGuy 4 жыл бұрын
I haven't used the jacar pen, but he pads cut easily, deending on the layout of the tracks beneath you might be able to use multiple sections.

The small bottle isn't a solvent but a curing agent. Maybe that's why the repair didn't last.

@@nervedamage3097bareconductive have products for this. They have a jar and a little tube. Black conductive paint that will dry. OEM use Graphite 33. Its spray coat with graphite

If that's a Chemtronics CW2605 repair kit, the part B is a catalyst, not a solvent. It looks like the kit has gone over its shelf life. I have a feeling the paint would not cure.
@TheAussieRepairGuy
@TheAussieRepairGuy 5 ай бұрын
Yeah it was an old kit then, got it for basically nothing. It did cure, but not well. in the years since, I have resorted to using glue-on carbonized rubber pads instead.

I saw some fluid on my circuit board contant points. Is this typical to use some kind of liquid to make greater contact point?
@thanasinghdhaliwal8114
@thanasinghdhaliwal8114 4 жыл бұрын
At first just clean the contact point with alcohol. If the black material is in good shape. It will work. Only when the material is damaged or removed then this liquid can help

sorry about the delay to reply. some circuit boards use a dialectic grease, but it's not common. clean with isopropyl alcohol, or a circuit board cleaner.

@@TheAussieRepairGuy Thanks for the answer regardless. I did, it helped some but reverted back. Very strange. I saw another video a guy taking a lead pencil and just putting a layer on there. To conduct I assume. Haven't tried. It doesn't conduct well even if it's clean with isopropyl alcohol.

What if the infrared signal is responsive (blinking) when i point it to my phones camera, but when i point to the amp its not working..what could be the issue? Btw its my integrated amplifier remote. The volume down button not working
@TheAussieRepairGuy
@TheAussieRepairGuy 2 жыл бұрын
The battery could be low and the IR light too weak, fresh batteries would rule that out. it could be that the remote has several code straps (channels) and it's on the wrong one. some receivers are designed to accommodate multiple remotes and can sometimes forget which remote strapping was used if the value is stores in a battery backed volatile memory. I have DVR units that do much the same, so that multiple remotes can be used with multiple units in the same room.

@@muttech16 yeah that can sometimes be the case, they use very thin board in them and it's easy to crack and fracture. hard to spot without a microscope - you can test the tracks with a multimeter in continuity mode though.
