Forget about Ruben’s style for a sec. He’s a goddamn magician moving from guitar pick, to pluck, to tap.

Know your shapes, scales, and then just practice taking what goes on in your head and putting it on the fretboard. Learn what a minor 7th sounds like for example and you'll start just thinking in the shapes

@@Daffanitely to add, to your comment...( improvisation)which is really, your favorite memorized musical pharases connected with , scales and the general chord progression of the particlar song...but hey, no pressure, lol when we speak...we have the same process...we have letters ( scales) words ( musical phrases) and a paragraph or story ( a song or chord progression ) ....so its not some foreign thing...we improvise everyday...when we speak! and occassionally...we come up with something new and original in the process! but you might be disappointed to find out that your new riff has already been done before...lol whats amazing is... all the music that has been made with only 12 notes!!

it's a fret wrap, sometimes called a string dampener. they just help to dampen open-string sounds and create a clearer tone

Very cool song. I've had it in my head for a couple of days now. Funny that you hear Em6 at 3:29. Since it stresses C# and F#, I hear it more as an A7/6. That's what I'm thinking when I solo over it at least.

Using an acoustic will definitely be a different sound from what Ruben is doing, but that doesn't make it incorrect to do so!

It's a Suhr. Looks like a Classic S (for stratocaster) with the SSS pickup configuration. Might be wrong, but the darkness of the wood on the headstock makes me think it's roasted neck. www.suhr.com/instruments/classic-s/
