Im 52, standard issue white guy. Do the math- born in 1971. I grew up with this music in the house all the time. I love soul and blues and rock and all music really. On a first date in the late 80's my future GF and I were driving to our first dinner date and this song came on the radio, I turned up the volume and belted this out lyric to lyric till the very end. We had a very nice date after that even though she thought I was slightly crazy...lasted about a year...oh well. I treated her like a lady till the end

What's cool is that I was at a small bar with a band playing covers of 70's tunes last night and they were playing songs I'd never heard covered by other bands before. They were playing a couple of Pink Floyd tunes and these two young guys in their early 20's were up rocking out on the dance floor singing every lyric to the songs! All my friends had to ask me Something they didn't understand How I get all the women in the palm of my hand I told them treat her like a lady Do the best you can do You gotta treat her like a lady, she'll give in to you Lord, you can seek, you know what I mean I know you've heard That the woman Soon takes advantage of you Let me tell you My friend There just ain't no substitute So, you ought to Treat her like a lady Do the best you can do You gotta treat her like a lady She'll give in to you Lord, you can seek, you know what I mean Oh, you've got to love her, tease her But most of all you've got to please her You've got to hold her, and want her And make her feel you'll always need her You know a woman is sentimental and so easy to upset So make her feel that she's for real And she'll give you happiness Woah, oh, oh, strange as it seems You know you can't treat a woman mean So my friend there you have it I said it's the easy simple way If you fail to do this Don't blame her if she looks my way 'Cause I'm gonna treat her like a lady So affectionately I'm gonna treat her like a lady She'll give in to me Lord, you can seek, you know what I mean Oh, you've gotta treat her like a lady Do the best you can do You gotta treat her like a lady

Had an English teacher in grade 11in the early 80's who, when we were studying poetry, he brought in Wreck Of The Edmund Fitzgerald, played it, and we dissected it as a poem. He was one of my favorite teachers and I ended up being his regular plumber the last few years!
