Rubicon Opel Blitz Maultier [28mm]

It's a Maultier! Made by Rubicon Models. This is a very nice 28mm scale kit perfect for games like bolt action. There's a good amount of versatility in this kit. You can make your Maultier with a few different cargo areas, which is nice.
Definitely recommended!

Great video ! That's one of the best kits I've seen of the Maultier. Do you have a complete high sided cargo bed with this kit ? It would be handy if it did. Then you could have them both. I can see why you didn't use the load indicator but it really should have one. But it would be down since there is nothing being towed. I'd just cut off the legs and glue it down on the top. I'd thin it to. I can't wait to see your painted model.

It does come with a high sided cargo bed too, Apparently that's teh early version, but I suspect it would have been used all through the war, really. The load indicator actually came in both an up and folded down version, which was cool. I figured it would interfere with the roof rack though.

You pronounced it absolutely right. Maultier is translated into something like a donkey - a animal which can be loaded with stuff and is a "working tool". Same with the truck - it's used for hard transport and heavy stuff

It’s always good to see a new vid from Herbert Erpaderp! On my first kit, the Airfix Spitfite starter set, I didn’t know what I was doing so I thought plastic cement would work as a filler. It didn’t work and ruined one of the decals.

The newer Airfix spitfire kit is way better than that one you reviewed a while ago, I suggest you should try it out

Definitely a kit I want a few off. Transports, AA, Hospital and cargo ones...be great if they did boxes of 3...also if you use the wheels you can use the tracks for more battle cars/mad max stuff etc

I guess Rubicon don't usually do 3 packs, but it would be a good idea if they did. Especially for stuff like this which you might want a few of. I guess even the wheels could be used on a mad max car. But the tracks would be more interesting.

Nice build and many thanks for the great tip re. leaving off the cab until painted. Rubicon look like nice kits and i think i'll switch allegiance, - we have had some bad experiences over christmas with Warlord kits.

Hey herbert, I want to start playing ww2 games but dont know whether to start flames of war or bolt action. Wich of the two do you think has better tank warfare ?

Good question. I like the rules of Bolt Action better with the randomly drawn order dice. Otherwise their tank warfare plays fairly similarly IMO. You'd be able to fit more tanks on the table with Flames of War's 15mm scale, so that might be a factor too.

Herbert Erpaderp i also like that i can start playing bolt action by just buying a hq, infantry box and a tank. but there is no kv5 in bolt action. thinking about getting a sherman jumbo for bolt action (one of my fav tanks) I've been playing Wh40k for 4 years now...

How have you been finding the Tamiya extra thin glue? Better or worse than your previous glue?

I actually really like it. the brush is nice and all, but what I really like is how thin and liquidy it is that you can just place it at a joint and it will run along any lines and in behind parts with the magic of capillary action.

Herbert Erpaderp Do you find that the thinness makes it harder to use on broader areas? Such as drying too quick? That's the concern that I have with the extra thin. Although I could also see the thinness reducing the issue of putting too much on and having it squish out the sides.

I've not actually used it on any exceptionally broad areas. At least none where I've had an issue with it. It does evaporate very quickly though. I think the trick might just to be apply a ton of it so it doesn't all evaporate when you go to join the two parts. Not really something I'd thought of it. Though it does definitely reduce the problem of excess glue being squished out the sides of parts.
