being honest, I don't agree with this statement. First of all, I'd like to mention how they have a new CEO which is bringing good changes. But I'd also like to mention I don't think core adjustment, magnet strength adjustment, or anything similar will be a thing. This is because Rubik's is a company that is trying to make things "simple" which means as minimal setup as possible. I definitely agree that they should do that because their target market has a lot of "newer" cubers and its better this way than "overcomplicating" things for them.

I got this as my first cube before i knew anything about speedcubing. I must say for me the best thing about this cube is the high contrast colours. I'm red-green colourblind so on many cubes ive had to buy extra stickers to increase the contrast but on this rubiks speed I never had to

At around $20 for a magnetized speed cube, it's a little high, but you're also getting the Rubik's name, a decent weight for those that like that, and those colored tiles on black. So, not all that bad. Especially for a new cuber.

Also, this was based on the market 3 years ago, when I made this comment. In that time, the budget speed cubes have gotten so much better. And in any case, it doesn't discount the fact that if someone wants a Rubik's branded cube, this is infinitely better than the original.

My GAN cube sometimes gets an “irregular” rotated center piece and I can corner twist my gan 2x2 on accident. (I haven’t bought all versions of GAN tbh but) rubiks magetic speed cubes seem better then the one I nave

The only reason to buy this over any other non Rubik's brand magnetic 3x3 is that it's tiled. It has the beautiful stickered color scheme without the peeling or fading side effect.

Get the Gan iCarry. Much cheaper and functions much better as a speedcube. Unless you really want to use the GO Cube app instead, then in that case get the Rubik's Connected as it performs better than the GO Cube

Is it really magnetic? There’s nothing on the box that says so, only the retailers’ claims. It’s no heavier than the 40th anniversary cube (very shiny and reflective which means I have to close my eyes to move it or risk a migraine) and that’s not advertised as magnetic.

I see where you're coming from, but I think your statement is flawed. Yes they have been 3 years behind, but I think changes are happening. They now have a new CEO which is more "involved" with the speedcubing community. In addition, in the past 3 years, not much innovation has happened anyways(since magnets became a thing). You might argue about "customization such as adjustable magnets, dual adjustment systems, and other similar things. But I don't think those are that important and cubes that have those customizations typically cost way more than $20. In addition, Rubik's has always tried to make cubes "simple," meaning easy to use without much setup. This cube is exactly that, which is why there aren't the customizations. The only reason I think people have a right to complain about is in regards to the tiles, as opposed to having a stickerless or stickered version.

@@CewbPianist Most modern speedcubes can be used without setup. Unless you're going for really cheap budget cubes under $10, and as long as it's not like an aolong from 2012, at most you'd need to adjust the tension for your personal preference. Lubing is entirely optional and many times I use lube just to slow down fast cubes, and I find that breaking in a cube alone is enough to give it an incredibly smooth feel. Personally I think of "setup" as "customization". Just my opinion though, and the rubik's magnetic speedcube is certainly a good choice for beginners.
