Pete rubish was my favorite among them. His depth was really good

Jason Harrison you're arguing with the wrong guy bud. Jim's knowledge on the sport exceeds yours ten times over.
@boxxer2218 жыл бұрын
+MrBlackshotNoob Pete always comes forward though when he squats, he really needs to put the bar lower down on his back.
@wheynelau8 жыл бұрын
boxxer221 i squat the same way too. I think its cause of dominant posterior i guess. My deads strong compared to my squats as well.
@powerliftingteen81298 жыл бұрын
+Wayne Lau You should not squat like that. Pete got seriously injured cause of squatting like that. Keep in mind hes on bunch of gear and is a freak, you are most likely not, no offense.
@kylethekidable7 жыл бұрын
It's unlikely he hurt himself from the depth but something specific he allowed to happen in the hole. Look up robb phillipus, dude is trading shots with lilliebridge on squats these days and squats bare knee ass to grass like an oly lifter and has perfectly fine knees.

@@dummy999 He rushed the lift, one thing is to react slow as a spotter, other, completely different, is when the athlete dives the squat like he is going to jump.

Rubish may use his back a lot in the squat but he's walking out, no wraps and squatting well below parallel. Gotta respect that.
@maxxxmodelz40613 жыл бұрын
Yeah, but I'd love to know what he would be able to total if he did wear wraps. Would it hurt his lift or add another 50lbs.

What's wrong with using your back?
@musashiblade15122 жыл бұрын
@@martin1234512345 I mean there's an old saying that goes "lift with your legs, not your back". It's obviously safer moving 600+ lbs with your legs rather than your spine.

@richw7610 жыл бұрын
SuperGlory32 at this point everyone knows to get that strong and to carry that much muscle you need to take PEDs. That being said I've never touched a steroid of any kind and I'm as strong or stronger than many of the guys that are clearly using in my gym..... So steroids can build muscle and get you stronger but you still have to put in the time and work.

@23.Capricorn.2310 жыл бұрын
Gotta love the satement Pete's making on squats. Let' list: no wraps, narrow stance, high bar, ass way below parallel requirement, oh and he walks it out the monolift, lol. I may be horribly wrong but he could maybe have added some extra lbs if some of these things changed, so it shows a healthy ego mentality - Pete is competing against himself and he only, if he does not make it the way he always does, and under those circumstances, it's not worth it, forget the others. Big legend, anyway.

Timed out on his first squat attempt b/c he wasn't ready. Still wasn't ready for his 2nd or 3rd attempts anyways. He made a jump from something like 700lb in warm up to 903 on the platform. 2nd attempt he only went down a little b/c something felt off. 3rd he got down but just couldn't get the weight up. Then he withdrew from the rest of the meet.

@BruBish7 жыл бұрын
Actually, his depth is quite inefficient. Ideally you want to squat no lower than you need to in order to get the lift given as good. You lose some tightness in your body coming out of the hole when you squat that deeply. Yes it's good for strength building more casually, but I think for more competitive lifting you shouldn't squat any deeper than is necessary. I think that was reflected in his heavier lifts. Eric Lilliebridge had the best squat here in my view.
