If you're training to get to this level, at what point do you actually have to start eating people? Serious question.

One factor is size. There are a lot of smaller elite lifters who pull far more than they squat. Richard Hawthorne, Joe Morrow, and and old school example is Lamar Gant. Weight gain helps leverages more for the squat + bench but extra mass can make certain positions a bit more difficult for the DL. Even then a lot of big guys pull more than they squat like Magnusson, and Big Z. And if equipped, lifters get far more out of their squat suits than DL equipment (although Efferding is a raw lifter).

Main issue for most is grip though. Especially the bigger guys. Example is ray williams a 800 some odd lb deadlift. 1050lb squat
@nktrainingsystems
@nktrainingsystems 2 жыл бұрын
@@jake67kg72 Ray Williams is probably a bad example as he is just built to squat, when you weigh 418 - 420 lbs and you pull 878.5 RAW like he did, at Worlds, on his final deadlift - In relation to his best squat, this is very impressive and his grip is fucking good that's for sure. On the other hand guys like Jezza Uepa are built to squat and due to being very big and round + having very big puffy hands, grip is not good at all in relation to what he could be truly lifting - especially when you compare his best competition squat of 1036 lbs and his best comp deadlift which is only 733 lbs

Zebarka That is how 99% of people don't use a belt. Belts are to help keep your abdomen in place and stable, if you don't have a band, you can use your "internal belt" by sucking all that air in and clenching your abdominal muscles.

@asael4491
@asael4491 4 жыл бұрын
You don't understand physics quite well. He is not pressing the equivalent of a Siberian tiger. Barbell weight is fixed as the horizontal ends (where the plates are) stabilize the uneven weight distribution even if the objects have the same mass.The barbell is engineered to lift as much as possible with a balance point in mind. The center of gravity is close to non existent without a barbell, hence this is why you will never see any human pressing a large mammal like a tiger.
@findingnory

Outstanding! What a tribute to strength training. Raw is the way to go. It shows an athlete's true ability. Although I highly respect the athletes that compete with gear, and regard them as some of the best ever, I do not take the lifts and totals seriously. It's also disheartening to see records of yesterday broken by guys who are wearing the bench and squat gear of today. They need to stop comparing apples and oranges.
