Ruby - Kraken pre-production tests

Here are some of my pre-production tests and drawings on Dreamworks's "Ruby Gillmans, teenage Kraken".
Early on, for about 4 months , I worked on some 2D pencil tests (before the rig was built) to help figure out the style and specificities of the sea monsters.
also drew some character model sheets and expressions.
At the time, I worked closely with Craig Kellman, who was one the main character designers on the show. Overall, it was a really fun experience !
Too bad it did not do so well at the box office....

Because they are drawings, and artists tend to have more affection and appreciation for art and its characters

I have a question they can make another movie but one problem the current movie is still in critical stage that are not in success in the box office.we need to wait until Japan gives enough money to succeed there movie from DreamWorks.

Honestly, if Dreamworks hadn’t considered “actionizing” this movie and kept most of the deleted stuff, this included, this probably would’ve been better in my opinion. They’ve had flops before, though, so I’m sure they can bounce back with Trolls: Band Together.

Two things: 1. Ruby looks great in 2D here! (1:34-1:48) 2. She was gonna have a tail at one point!? I kinda wish they kept that. (0:22-0:26)

The way you animate sparks the way Dreamworks used to do their 2D animated films a long time ago. It's a shame they don't do it anymore. Your work back then and now has always resonated the best to me!

Well the 2D animation didn't go away from the studio if you watch some of the CG animated films of DreamWorks you can basically see bits of 2D animation in certain segments. Instead of the traditional hand-drawn ink and cell most of the segments are mostly digital ink and paint. That's how it currently is today with most animated series.

This style is homage to the 4 hand-drawn animated movies Dreamworks has done The Prince Of Egypt The Road To El Dorado the Oscar nominated Stallion of The Cimeron and Sinbad

La pelicula de Krakens y Sirenas conoce a los Gillman, si que fue un largometraje muy bueno, es especial con base a sus carismáticos personajes. Y con esos modelos de animación piloto e Storyboards has tiene mucho potencial como para hacerle su serie animada, y si tomamos en cuenta Nickelodeon como contacto de animación de parte de Dreamworks así podría el proyecto de Ruby Gillman Kraken Adolescente seria una nueva propaganda para darle algo de continuación si nos ponemos a pensar en las escenas eliminadas como episodios de la serie y sus situaciones par resolverlo.
