As a teacher for over 40 years in Hawaii I hope that was not a teacher but a parent or chaperon. Whenever we took our students to locations like this in Washington, DC or Pearl Harbor time is spent teaching the protocol of that location. Students are told the immediate consequences of their behavior. It is made personal to them as England and Europe is a location where thousands of men from Hawaii fought and died during WWII. That the uniform that guard wears represents a military unit that their family member who fought and died during WWII may have fought with. That is all information given to the students before they enter the location. Therefore they know they are disrespecting their own family, and country if they disrespect the location. It is a lesson that needs to be taught to have them honor the history of the location. In Hawaii it is called the "mana" of the location. I love watching your videos and have subscribed to your channel. Love your comments!!

My daughter is a tour director in England & her groups are mostly young students. Before going to Horse Guards she tells them that firstly, these are highly trained soldiers & horses doing duty, not just an attraction. Secondly, she tells them what is acceptable & what not. What to do if a horse should pull on their clothing, or nibble on them - do NOT wave your arms, or yell. Just gently move away. Recently, when a trooper was out at the horses, he called my daughter over & said the guard had asked him to tell her how much he appreciated the way her group behaved & how respectful they were. This, I feel, should be what all tour directors should do. The guards & their horses deserve respect. Sadly I can only watch from Johannesburg, South Africa!

It’s a bit sad but it’s still the wrong setting for horse patting. @@genny9026 My teacher said to our class before a day trip to Berlin: “And behave. I don't want Berliners to think that we are a class from Dummsdorf." (Dumb Village, like a village name) He hadn't to say anymore. Well, maybe different times.😔
@genny90266 ай бұрын
@@ClaudiaErnst Yes, I think so too. It takes a lot of energy and caring to bond with children and teenagers and unfortunately, there are some teachers who can’t or won’t do it. Then trouble starts.

Good Evening John, Always a pleasure to see you and your beloved London Household Cavalry units on duty. Quiet sweet summer evening in Virginia. Very warm. Many teachers in our families....across Universities to PreSchool. ... .across Generations... I think you did a grand job to adjust the arrogant pawing behavior of those students. Carry on.

Glad you were there to ‘school’ that teacher. It is unreal people think they cant be filmed!!! Do not try that in ‘merica. Sad to see that they are not learning a thing on these trips.

Good on you for calling the German students out, act disrespectful pay the price. The teacher most likely didn't want you filming because it shows she may not have been doing her job and making sure her students didn't embarrass the school. I know in America as a rule you can film anything you wish in public, and I believe in government buildings as well.

Well done John. Tell them like it is. With teachers like her no wonder some kids are disrespectful.

Actually the problem with the uncivilized students began at HOME! It’s the parents responsibility to teach their offspring how to behave and relate in the world. Sounds like the teacher is weak or liberal and students being students ran all over her and everyone else who they could. John as usual put the kabosh on that, real quick! Lol

Hun, they need to put you on payroll for your brave and honest defense of the RESPECT for the Guards! Sometimes all that’s needed to remind these kids is YOUR voice saying, ‘Chap? Have some RESPECT.’

What kind of sword are the Guards holding, they look very long, a saber? Some teachers are 'friends"with the students instead of setting a respectful example. Thank you for speaking up on disrespectful behavior. In Germany, you don't disrespect the Military or Police Officers

Nothing to do with Germans, the same or even worse behaviour was shown by all European Teenagers on Class Trips etc. That Teacher did not see the actions of her students. The Jocks tried to be funny and cool, just like all Teens in that age. As a German i feel slightly embarrassed

Another stupid parent offering up their baby for sacrifice. Child endangerment at it"s finest. Sign should state on opposite side, "Not responsible for any injuries or your dr. bills to children/babies/adults. And child endangerment/ Neglect charges will be considered based on parent's lack of preventative action of placing child in danger of a biting horse.

John. Some schools here in England are still active, not taking their summer breaks until into July, while schools in Scotland are already on holiday, & return before August is out. Also Junior & secondary schools have different length holidays, some 6 weeks, & some 8 weeks, & they vary a bit around the country. Also school trips usually happen during term times not during the holidays, except maybe for some extended trips, but these would be rare. Some of these horses look a bit darker than the usual King's Troop bays, maybe the lighter ones are actually chestnut.

thank you John for another 'intervention' with eejit tourists, who we now know the majority both understand and can speak english, keeping your own safety in mind - last summer when they were here, few tolerated the touching of reins or even touching their mounts - makes me wonder if some of these guards are very new - at least one certainly wasn't paying attention not even to her horse which has its ears laid back most of the time - I've always said there should be NO touching of the horses - and a distance away of at least 2-3 feet for photo purposes - the MOD police should be more involved in 'public safety' (and protection of the horse guards) instead of many times in small groups chatting with each other - I've heard many tour guides (all tour guides speak more than one language per their websites) urging their paying tourists to 'move closer' - a MoD/Monarchy announcement to every tour guide company in England that failure to educate their tourists how to behave and show respect would result in a serious fine might work - or maybe we subscribers should start a letter campaign to the MofD?
