41:22 "conventional, materialistic eyes see Rudra as a destroyer. An awful, terrible, destructive force like an earthquake or a hurricane. The deeper truth however is that Rudra and Rudrani can reach beauty and wonder at a level too deep for the Dakshas of this world to perceive"

Vic.... that was amazing... I love that story............. I saw Sati's self-destruction as a metaphor for walking away from the 'abuse' and expectations of the 'father' (or family, or church, or society) and reinventing herself into her OWN form; and then following her path in confidence which led to her eternal happiness. I also love the part of the way to resolve anger's destruction is to center yourself in deep peace (meditation and yoga) and the path to eternal happiness (in marriage) is to be yourself and honor yourself and your other AS THEY ARE, not as you want them to be. Mind, Heart, Spirit is blown open.... Namaste'

That's really well put. Tell me if I'm misunderstanding but also it almost seemed that there was a theme of what would appear to be opposing sides between Rudra( Shiva) and Daksha but actually they somewhat "define" one another yet also held some similar traits within eachother? Even they actually showed different sides of the same coin before Sati "transformed" through the sacrificial fire. I couldn't help but think that it took Sati coming from that material wealthy life & Daksha to eventually become frustrated by it to reach a point of wanting to set it before the altar to be burned.
@aleadender11234 жыл бұрын
@@jamesrmosbeyii1122 I'm not sure I follow and you must understand that I only know the parts of the story as Vic has told them... I am learning. Rudra (Shiva) = husband, Daksha = father? and I believe that Daksha agreed to 'father' a 'goddess' and Sati agreed to be born but only if her terms were met (that he would always honor her as the goddess she is)? and over time Daksha forgot his promise and returned to his natural arrogance and attachment to wealth? so Sati was also reacting to the betrayal of Daksha's promise to remember and honor her as a goddess. Are you saying that Rudra and Daksha were similar?.... and the coin was material wealth (Rudra rejecting it, Daksha embracing it)?... In the US we would call those 'Daddy Issues' meaning daughters relive the unfinished business they have from their fathers with their husbands and that is likely also part of the story. Although not the part I noticed. I didn't get the idea that Sati was rejecting material wealth; she was infuriated that her father had betrayed his solemn promise to her and was disrespecting her beloved, her husband... I saw the burning being rage from betrayal rather than purification from material desire.

Your point related to Marriages in Vedic Culture is so True. There was so much freedom given to Women to choose their Husbands. Love means Freedom and respect. So it should not be stereotyped. The Most important Vedic cultural aspect is the Obedience. Obedience not as an imposition but out of Love. Obedience to Parents, Guru and Elders is the most important aspect of anybody's character. Children would not even speak in front of elders out of great Respect and love. But this was not blind obedience. When it was needed, they would speak respectfully and boldly like Prahalad did to his Father. When children realize that their Parents Love them, they would never refuse a suggestion by their Parents related to Marriage. In most cases Children were very young and did not realize what happened to them. They just decide to Love the person offered to them by their parents. They knew that Love is something that must be cultivated towards someone through service. Children also experienced so much Love from their Parents by their Service that it becomes natural for them to Love others irrespective who comes as their Husband. It was simply a matter of service to Lord. What you mentioned about Mother Sati is a special case. In most ordinary cases Parents would choose someone for their children. As you rightly said they would never consult a chart or do Horoscope matching. They would mostly find someone in their relations and give their daughter to them in Charity on an Auspicious Muhurat.

Dude! I so relate to the story of Rudrani. Unfortunately my dad isn’t in the correct way of a Rudra nakshatra. Hella rudra nakshatras (specifically Moola in ascendant and with Mars & sun) for him. Last July, at my Aunts Wedding, I had an outburst like Rudrani against my dad. He’s so focused on his own self and his life and enjoyment. It got so crazy that I had to fight him in front of everyone at the end of the event. He was drunk & very bitter from something 3 years ago and even now, still is. But I really felt moved to do something and show my family the pain he’s caused his kids and my mother. It’s almost like I did commit suicide Bc nobody in my family talks to me anymore except my siblings and mom. Yet they still talk to him and say “he was just drunk. Move on”. Too pompous with hate for my mom that he didn’t stop to think maybe fighting his son is a bad thing.

First of all, I enjoy hearing you tell us something more each time about Vedic astrology nakshatras, etc. Secondly, I have prominent planets in above nakshatras mentioned. Even though I am a practicing Buddhist, I like hearing certain things about planets and cannot explain to anyone logical why it is so. Birthchart in mind, it will give clues. Anyways, what I’m trying to get at is I never felt some of those Hindu gods/goddess as real people (even gods in other cultures; Universe I understand; humans I understand, even their greatest potential- but never in such grandiose claims of being “god-like” or being a “son of god” claim. For me that’s just the Universe including Earth, outside Earth with other planets & the whole cosmos; mico to macro scale of anything seen & unseen by the naked eyes) their views/stories of gods/goddess can possibly any representations of other things/anything (esp. knowing something about the arts & creative expression), with that possible guesses mentioned out of the way- Siddhartha Gautama / Shakyamuni Buddha was the only real life person in history I was ever mainly drawn into.. aside from others in his time BCE. I didn’t grew up in this lifetime from Buddhist faith bcoz I grew up in another country with history of being conquered by another nation w/ their own religion being introduced to my native country. But inspite of all that kind of influence, I was always seeking.. and #Buddhism just align with my life outlook. Hearing love stories about Rudra Shiva Sati Pavarti.. I can’t help but imagine how strange their story is. And as u continue sharing their stories, somehow I just compare & think about Siddhartha and Yashodhara’s love story and how their love story made more sense to me, and I admire theirs more than how people views Shiva and Pavarti’s relation. I guess it’s also that odd story about how Sati so called committed suicide. I think I get from a passionate & dedicated perspective of why she did it, but I definitely did not see it the best possible way to handle her disagreement with her father. (I know u mentioned something of it being a mistake decision & people in general make mistakes)... anyways, what I am trying to get at is that if I compare it to Yashodhara (I know completely different people, but for the sake of argument if there was a perfect wife) I can only imagine Yashodhara and her efforts (mind u, a human/ not a goddess or supernatural being, but still extraordinarily wonderful human). Anyways, long story short- Shakyamuni live upto like 82yrs old. He did met up with family & Yashodhara after his awakening/enlightenment as he go about sharing his insight & teaching it in his community...then at some point Yashodhara eventually joined the Buddhist sangha when it was at a right time when more women was seeking the Buddha (BUDDHISM WAS SO REVOLUTIONARY IN BCE. Buddha already foresee Women Attaining Buddhahood; unlike other religion. I notice in other religions that they talk down/badly about women like being a temptress, snake, blah blah, rarely* ever good things; being concubines, stereotype virgins, and/or stolen from war; guess those men were weak in their limbido control or just like to blame women or who knows what we’re their f*up history reasons are that they held such certain belief system. They seem so out of alignment compare to what I realize about Buddhism in The LOTUS SUTRA. Anyways, I admire Siddhartha & Yashodhara bcoz even though they delt with long term separation out of Buddha’s concern for everyone (not just his family) of wanting to understand why we are born, sickness, aging, & death.. even questioning the caste system and/or laws that seem so out of alignment from natural universal law. Once he realized from his enlightenment that everything is interconnected, to put it simply in words, he eventually try to share his insight (he at first was not sure how to share or explain his insight to other people, but he did it anyways). But it’s amazing how Yashodhara remained loyal to Siddhartha, and even started wearing simple clothes, and laying on the floor like how she has heard from people how Siddhartha had been (already living Buddha monk like life to put it simply- hard to really say this in words). As someone who is spiritual & can still adjust/function in Earth life or material life in other words.. I somehow understand when Shakyamuni replied to one of Yashodhara question or expression of a sense of grief (as in their marriage is not something how anyone would image the ideal earthly marriage & happiness version of happily ever after or whatever stereotypes) SHAKYAMUNI responded in like in seer prophetic way, that Shakyamuni to Yashodhara: ...”Buddha Dipankara has blessed us to be together many lifetimes. In this life, I could attain enlightenment due to your patience and endurance. I will always be indebted to you.” Mind u, I looked up Buddha Dipankara (there will be slight different spellings with Sanskrit and Pali ~ Dipamkara aka Fixed Light) Dipankara exits in Buddhist Jataka tales (previous lives of Buddha’s, etc.) Anyways, I am a practicing Buddhist for 10yrs+ (always had strong interesting about it before embracing the practice). Just like my strong attraction to Astrology, it is similar and more with Buddhism, but I had no logical explanation. It is just something that seem familiar, but no idea why. But if I can explain it in other words, in Buddhism sense & even Hinduism sense.. it’s something link to past life, reincarnation, etc. kind of familiarity. Being a Buddhist, acknowledged past lives just seem understandable to me. Even when I was practicing a different religion before (not by choice, but what society I grew up in) I was always curious who I may have been in my past life, how old the world really is bcoz of how many ancestors I have. Always drawn in wanting to understand life and what’s my overall purpose of existence. So many existential questions, since childhood. I always had philosophical questions that I didn’t find the answers that just seem to personally click with me until I came across Buddhism (general at first, many years after I can across the SGI org with the focus on the LOTUS SUTRA. I cannot stress it enough. I know I’m a random stranger, but I just felt passionate and had this need in wanting to share this after seeing this specific vlog. I wanted to comment as soon as I could. I can’t help looking back from what I know that Siddhartha always thought Hindu rituals was sort of elitist, strict &/or discriminating and like was mainly performed or have to be performed thru Bhramans. So ppl who are in different caste did not have like easy access to it. It’s like a person can only reach a type of blessing or enlightenment if they go thru some type of Bhrama and/or priesthood of some sort. Siddhartha/Shakyamuni found that not aligning with the Universe! Everyone has a Buddha nature, they just have to awaken it. (Saying this in words/writing always seem to sounds so easy, but keeping up with one’s practice will always be a challenge, but ideally rewarding like how Saturn may take a while to give rewards, but it always will when it is time. Something like that.)

It seems to me that Ardra can be materialistic sometimes, because for me they have this mental clarity in which is always grasping the truth of reality but this keeps progressing and evolving, one could say "oh but it is life, everybody would do that, there's nothing to life but these things and everybody knows that" (really limiting one's experience to the material aspect of life) because ardra have this failing rational mind. Most people can live by these materialistic vision but not even notice it, while Ardra would do this because he currently believes it consciously, but after some time and experience, they go beyond these illusions. Going step by step consciously.

Where did he say that arranged marriage are not Vedic? There are different forms of marriage, each bringing different results. Satis marriage is an exclusion not the norm.
@VicDiCaraAstrology5 жыл бұрын
actually it is quite the norm. can you cite an example of an arranged marriage from puranas or itihasa? There should be two or three, out of dozens. Then, can you cite an example of a marriage arranged BY ASTROLOGY? that I believe you will find zero of.
@herbertgrundbock44425 жыл бұрын
@@VicDiCaraAstrology So marrying Lord Shiva is the norm? Being Saci is the norm? They are total exclusions. Of course, there is only one person to marry for her. All the other daughters of daksa were given by him, arranged by him with his blessings. Arranged marriage is the norm, or do you think even just 200 years ago people also met in clubs and parties and had casual sex? What is your alternative? Are marriage or better partnerships lasting longer when not arranged by the parents? Is that the ideal situation? But what does arranged marriage mean? It doesn't mean the girl can't say yes or no to the proposed man. Parents, mostly father looks for suitable marriage partner, double check with horoscope and then agreement from boy or girl is asked or sometimes not asked. Both cases are there. Also, the boys get married sometimes against their liking. Prabhupada is an example for this.
@herbertgrundbock44425 жыл бұрын
@@VicDiCaraAstrology There are so many examples were daughters were given. Do you know the story of Chyavanprash? The old man who was given the young princess after his great service. then look at this: ŚB chapter 6 (sexist and patriarchy alert!!! I MARKED THEM IN CAPITAL LETTERS) As described in this chapter, Prajāpati Dakṣa begot sixty daughters in the womb of his wife Asiknī. These daughters WERE GIVEN IN CHARITY to various persons to increase the population. Since these offspring of Dakṣa were women, Nārada Muni did not try to lead them toward the RENOUNCED ORDER of life. Thus the daughters were SAVED from Nārada Muni. Ten of the daughters WERE GIVEN in marriage to Dharmarāja, thirteen to Kaśyapa Muni, and twenty-seven to the moon-god, Candra. In this way fifty daughters WERE DISTRIBUTED, and of the other ten daughters, four were given to Kaśyapa and two each to Bhūta, Aṅgirā and Kṛśāśva. ....

ŚB 4.1.48, ŚB 5.1.34, ŚB 10.61, CC Madhya 5.77-78, ŚB 10.61.23, ŚB 10.56.37, ŚB 9.18.30, and many more. ŚB 3.22.13: purport: The general procedure of Vedic marriage is that a father offers his daughter to a suitable boy. That is a very respectable marriage. A boy should not go to the girl’s father and ask for the hand of his daughter in marriage. That is considered to be humbling one’s respectable position... The whole chapter ŚB 3.22. shows an example of an arranged marriage. Girl heard about him, became attached. Father goes and presents her, try to convince him to marry her. That is an arranged marriage where girl picked the husband. So where is the problem with arranging? Sometimes girl pick and men accept, sometimes men pick girl accept and sometimes father picks both accept. But they are all arranged.

To your point at min 10 and later on re Satti as well, you should definitely check out this guy Amit Sengupta who posts geopolitical analysis. He made a great video (maybe 2-3 parts) about how the Brits are the ones who actually made the 4 castes into a divisive thing. It used to be nothing more than “occupations” (I think you mentioned something similar in another vid where you said something to the effect that there were the folks who had wealth and then those who didn’t because they were either too intelligent or not at all, and the wealthy supported the intellectuals….may have been the Bali and Vishnu 3 step story). However, in the 1700s the British introduced the caste system in a way to divide people and add in a religious component in which they discriminated against Muslims (which wasn’t a divisive thing previously) and that’s how 1st they divided Hindu against Muslim, then the 4 “castes” between each other. Incredible that the Brits are STILL able to keep up their psych-Ops. Anyways, I think you’ll enjoy listening to Amit Sengupta and find the missing link where something went “off” between 1700-1900. Thanks for making these videos! Excellent 👍🏻

25:00 this instance you mention of sati not listening to her husband and comparing it to how in modern India women are supposed to listen to husband and then concluding that vedic India allows for women to not follow husband's every ...advice/order/request? From what I have learned is the gurus in modern India saying that look! She dint listen to her husband's advice and went to the function against her husband's wishes lead to her demise and brought hell. They make a totally different teaching/learning out of this, that women SHOULD listen to their husbands as they know better and should listen to avoid catastrophe. What would you say of that??
@VicDiCaraAstrology3 жыл бұрын
honestly, if we look at real vedic culture - husbands are like ksatriya and wifes like brahmana. this means husbands sit in thrones and appear to be kings and make decisions, but they are guided and informed by the sensitivity wisdom and perceptivity of the women. Modern people can wiggle around all they want to persever their middle-eastern origination mysogyny, but it doesnt change what was actually once true Vedic culture.

@@VicDiCaraAstrology sir, would you deem sati's decision very wise to self immolate, her being a brahmin??

Had she not done it, she would not have been born as Parvati. I think it is clear in the vedas' way that there is a hidden reason behind all events. Every sorrow and tragedy and issues has hidden sides we do not see from the moment.

I think using the story of Shiva and Sati to deduct wrong conclusions about Indian culture is quiet dimwitted. The comment section is too short to elaborate on it, but your conclusions demonstrates your own limitedness. I say this with no insult because I do appreciate what you have achieved so far.

I would love to hear you elaborate. I think Vic does better job at his criticism than you do here because at least he shares the basis of his view and opinions.

The principle of Sati is definitely part of Vedic Culture but this principle is degraded like all other principles with time. In modern age we cannot imagine the amount of Love and emotions people carried towards each other in those ages. Imagine that someone you love deeply, suddenly dies due to an accident, the partner feels so much intense pain that they do no want to live any more. Women of vedic culture loves their Husbands so selflessly that without her lover she feels there is no meaning to her life. She has no more service left if she does not have children. Without service she feels life is useless. As you rightly said suicide or giving up life in a vedic way was accepted as nobody cared about the body so much. They always knew the individual will take rebirth in better circumstances if it is done for the right purpose and motivation. People who are dejected or depressed are not allowed to take their lives as this is running way from Karma. In their next life they will have to continue where they stopped. Some references can be found in Maha Bharatha and Ramayana about Sati principle. In Maha Bharatha when Pandu Raja, father of Pandavas Dies, Madhuri also enters the pyre of her husband. Kunti on the other hand stays back as she needs to take care of pandava's. So as long as there is some service left for a women she likes to continue life. If there is no service they think it is better to end that life and move on. So, it is always a choice. When Dasharatha dies none of the wife's take to Sati and the reason given is that they want to see lord Rama Come back and become King again. Because of this service they kept their lives. So in Essence Sati is not a concocted Principle. But the way it is applied is completely distorted. Kali degrades everything. I agree that a true intellectual is one who is constantly in search of truth. He is humble and accepts Truth wherever it comes from. I really like the way you are presenting Astrology truly sticking to the messages of Vedic Scriptures. Genuine people will always accept Truth.
