Another video of the Smoky Mountains this time we filmed the peaceful side of the park Cades Cove, Towsend Tn, Roaring fork motor trail etc. With a heavy hearth we left Venice without our Chucky boy (our Jack Russel passed away this past January 4 weeks shy of his 17th birthday he was our travel companion, our baby our everything), we rented a cabin by the river in Townsend Tn only 7 miles from Cades Cove.It was a cloudy rainy day we decided to drive into Cades cove in the hope to see our black furry friends, the meadows looked beautiful the wildflowers and grasses taller as ever and made it harder to spot the wildlife still we saw deer, turkey's and black spot moving in the tall grasses. It started raining heavier so we drove up the higher elevations of the park near Newfoundland gap in the hope to be above the rain clouds and were rewarded with the most magical skies we had ever seen. The foggy rain clouds rolling in and the sun who was fighting them truly a spectacle to witness a great end of our first day.Next day early morning drove to Roaring fork motor trail it didn't take very long before we saw a black bear having his breakfast of young leaves unfortunately we could not park there so we continued our journey. The scenery was very lush and green the creek was covered with mossy rocks.Suddenly next to our car an adult black bear only couple feet from our car we parked car little further up the road to hopefully film him, walked up the road with our gear but could not see him anymore, then out of nowhere he walked towards us so we backed of a little to give him his space and then were able to film him. On the same trail we saw a lot of nice old building including a small mill next to the creek. This trip we saw black bears every single day even in Cling mans dome. At one point we saw mother with three cubs crossing the roaring fork creek that would have been the best shot ever unfortunately we didn't have our gear ready in time but still got plenty of nice footage of the bears. Cades Cove by sunrise was something never to forget so peaceful and no crowds just so serene and tranquil. One day while filming a black bear there was a coyote walking in the direction of the bear and surprisingly the bear walked of and went up a tree and coyote walked into meadow. Veerle got some nice pictures of it no video unfortunately. The amount of wildlife we saw this trip was a lot, the views from foothills parkway are stunning as well as all the overlooks in the park. The last day we spent our last couple hours by the river on a small beach Veerle wrote down Chucky his name with a little heart shape, our Chucky will be missed forever. While filming this film we spend a lot of time thinking back to all our good times we spend with him over the years, he loved the smokies just like we do it was the first time we saw the park was covered by the little FORGET ME NOT flowers so it felt like he was still with us.It felt little like this trip was a goodbye for now... to the smokies so we dedicate this film to you our Chuckty boy.
