@Dan Nguyen In the UK some are screwed on but most now are stuck on with double sided sticky foam strips, between 2 and 4 of them. Prevents needing to drill holes into bumpers etc I guess.

@@markwright3161 even screwed on, modern UK plates are plastic so often break off on impact, the plastic around the screws just cracks and shatters. Looking at the force of that water it would have probably been ripped off no matter what.

@@sys-administrator in France they are riveted with specific rivet issued with the plates so you cant remove it and put another number to go on a nightly joyride in front or speed radars without it leaving traces

@@nasa1985 Exactly, and if the water is high enough to end up in the air intake, it's also gonna fill up all the cavities and interior with water and you absolutely don't want that lol. At least I would never cross with my sprinter, even at a very low speed if the water is higher than the footwell given that I have some vents on my floor under the fridge and the LPG tank..

its all about the technique. the Ford van at 4.00 mark does it perfectly. Turn off the AC, don't create a splash, maintain a slow and steady pace. Ideally in a lower gear like 1st and 2nd to keep the revs up; speed low.

I know this place I've been through it in my truck as it's the diversion route if you're over height for the bridge at Ollerton. Although my cab was coming out the water as the back of the truck still hadn't gone in yet as I was over 70ft long. I didn't have any problem with the depth though. 😄

That first one (The Discovery 3) far too fast and pretty clueless about water crossing. It will cost him more than a new front registration plate. He could have raised his suspension to off road height too. I bet he had engine problems following that splash down.

@@AlexBayes Yes that's what I thought, uncombusted diesel because it was mixed with water. I am sure the EGR & DPF systems would have loved that!!! His electrics would most likely have been damaged also. It's well documented on Disco 3 forums, getting water in the battery compartment is a nightmare, that amount is probably a sure bet for issues. I told the local car valets *not* to clean my Disco 3 engine bay but they did anyway & I got loads of warning lights on as a result.

I thought for a moment there that A Mercedes sprinter van had bucked the trend and actual got through OK, but I also thought it too good to be true when I saw the puffs of black smoke and then the deathly white smoke....RIP. Oh and where are the ducks today ?
