I remember being a naive 19 year old in Townsville back in 1997 and I seen you and your partner at the rockpool and I hopped out of the pool and stared at you guys cause I was uncomfortable. I'm disgusted at myself for that and I'll never get the chance to apologize properly and shake your hand so I'm doing it now here in public. My Dad told me when I was playing 35 years ago that Ian was the player I needed to model my game on. The hardest man in the game. When he came out he broke every mold on perceived masculinity. I did however copy his dance moves. These were more attainable.

Awesome person, awesome legend of rugby league. Remember as a youngster in New Zealand, reading the Rugby League Week magazine and Ian Roberts, Paul Sironen, David Gillespie, Trevor Gillmeister. Roberts was just a hard working, hard hitting bloke and no steps backwards. Complete legend sir.
