Tyler Suarez jags are good. But I don't think that they will be all time great when it's all said and done, because for as good as they are, they had a handful of games where it turned into a shootout, and their offense couldn't bail them out, or they did. The second steelers game, the 49ers game, the titans games, the rams game, the jets game. They were proven to be beatable, while the defenses that were all time great, like the ravens, the buccs, the broncos, had a game or two, but were never proven easily beatable. The jags are good, but they lost when they needed to win, and are too far from being as good as the broncos defense was. I mean they shut down hall of fame qbs, held arod to 77 yards in a game where they were both undefeated.

That SuperBowl vs Denver was the #1 scoring offense of all time, vs the #1 defense that year (some people put them up with the all-time greatest Ds in history) The Seahawks utterly dismantled the Broncos in that game, from the very first play on.

137.6 dB is the equivalent of standing next to a Boeing 777 while it is taking off... That is how loud it was in Seattle during one game. Technically, Kansas City broke the record for loudest outdoor stadium, however it was a staged event in which crowd props were used to momentarily break the record. The Seahawks record occurred in game, during an exciting play. The stadium in which they play however, is built to funnel the noise back down and to settle at the crowd level.

What makes every great defense is the synergy between the players. Each of the three key members of the Seahawks secondary brought something different to the table. Richard Sherman was the biggest star, the intelligent and brash spokesman for the team. Earl Thomas was its best player, the linchpin to its success, with his ability to rocket around the field and defend the pass as well as the run. Yet it was Kam Chancellor who was its spirit animal, who gave it its reputation for big hits. The psychological effect on the opposing team was such that many receivers couldn't run routes over the middle effectively for fear of a Chancellor hit. But as with every defense it is how these players combined with each other and the other defenders that took it to the next level.
@lukemager54186 жыл бұрын
if you think that was good, you NEED to see the NO FLY ZONE, Denver Broncos Secondary/ Defense, like right now.
@Jackalhit6 жыл бұрын
False, legion of boom are (in)famous for clutching and grabbing outside of the Seattle echo chamber. Don't you remember rules changes asking refs to watch for that? Besides, Denver's 2015 season specifically is widely regarded as one of the best full unit defenses ever, being elite at every position, whilst their playoff run and Super Bowl are enough to put them in league with only the '85 bears.
@cdc86996 жыл бұрын
Luke Mager the no fly zone could barely beat cam newton lol...
@Jackalhit6 жыл бұрын
First off you're talking about a span of years, did I not specifically state 2015's Broncos iteration (more on this later)? Next, everyone knows a generation is 20 years, so you prob weren't around to watch the 2000 Ravens but go learn about them, they didn't have to clutch and grab to the point that officials were forced to look at that specifically. Just by that, your statement about greatest of the generation is false; sorry the Ravens got the best Seattle defense (2013) beat. Back to my premise; I said the 2015 Broncos defense, and defenses (like all teams) are rated year to year. For example one does not say the "1980's bears," it's the 1985 bears specifically regarded as the best ever. So as I was discussing a single year's performance, yes, the 2015 Broncos are among the handful of best ever for a full season, and to top it off, their post season run is among the greatest putting them up there with the 2000 Ravens and 1985 Bears. And remember contextual stats matter; the astonishing thing is the 2015 Broncos did it with no offense to speak of. Saying barely top 15 is a really poor troll attempt, sounds like something a blogger would say haha. You never go full blogger. Ps - Did you know that you pointed to a stat that is not a defense-specific stat? Scoring defense counts points allowed by special teams and the offense. You also don't get contextual stats from this, which would require box-score investigation. But that sort of thing requires looking at lots of information. For example, the Pats regularly have a highly rated scoring defense, but that's also because they don't screw up on offense and special teams. Note - if you get into the numbers, you find the easiest path to having a great defense is by keeping them off the field. Pps - Broncos actually looked to the 1985 Bears for their model, NOT the Seahawks. Also, not that I'm one for lists, but NFL.com begs to differ with you.
@Jackalhit6 жыл бұрын
kamikazininjaelf77 that's all you got? High school level "I can look at stats?" Hahah shit... I suggested actually learning why stats are the way they are in football, but you straight stopped thinking. K, and if nothing I say matters, then it's been fun, Legion of Bandwagon. At least you guys have had a couple successful seasons ... recently. Sucked when Seattle was the AFC West doormat all those years. Keep up the success and before you know it the rest of the NFL will take the Seahawks fan base more seriously (echo chambers suck yo).

Besides the 85 Bears, another hard hitting D is the 86 Giants. 77 Broncos-Orange Crush, 90-Saints linebackers, 86-90 Giants, and the 70’s Steel Curtain would be cool. The 90-92 Saints D is considered to have the best 4 linebacking group ever. They weren’t as great as Lawrence Taylor or Ray Lewis individually, but they were all great on one team at the same time.

Even though I’m a Steelers fan, ya really missed out on being a Seahawks fan during the legion of boom. Was really pretty cool.

Loving these reactions! Do the Greatest Show on Turf video that NFL Films did. That Rams offense was insane. And if you ever do college football check out the 1995 Nebraska Cornhuskers, the most dominant college team in history.

Several legendary defenses have had epic nick names. Legion of Boom - Seahawks, The No Fly Zone - Broncos, The Bad Birds - Cardinals, The Doomsday Defense - Cowboys, The Steel Curtain - Steelers, etc.

Baker Mayfield college highlights: WIZARD QB for elusiveness and nailing impossible long bombs and laser passes to covered receivers. And he very often blocked downfield for his receivers.

that defense frustrated so many fans of so many teams it is crazy.

You’ve totally gotta do Fred Taylor. One of the most underrated RBs of all time. If he had played for any other team, like the Patriots, for example, for nearly his whole career instead of his final two seasons when they did not win the super bowl, he’d already be in the HOF. Also, check out 2017’s stingiest defense: SACKSONVILLE.

This is My favorite video you made Seattle is My team! Ok so let Me tell you how good they were. Richard Sherman (Look up his wiki hes a fifth round steal from the draft AND so is Kam Chancellor). Sherman went to Stanford University and had nearly a 4.0 grade point average (straight A). Sherman is widely considered one of the greatest shutdown corners in his day. People tend to hate on him because he talks a lot of trash, but has always backed it up. (already a several time pro bowler and All-Pro in his short career.) Kam Chancellor, another fifth round steal, was feared by receivers and TEs. 6'4"240 pounds. Gave players concussions. Yet still a fantastic coverage Safety. Another several time Pro Bowler and All-Pro (these guys were this good). Next Earl Thomas. One of if not THE fastest Safety in the game (just ask anybody). Thomas made All-Pro 3 out of his first 4 years! He was a very worthy 1st round draft pick. I personally consider Chancellor and Thomas the 2 best Safeties of their time (People might argue about that claim, but come on the simple fact is these are several time Pro Bowl players). Finally look up Brandon Browner, the other Cornerback. 6'4" 230. Look up his hits vs Cardinals, takes out 3 guys. Also Kam Chancellor versus offensive lineman. Under their defensive dominance of the league, they led the league for FIVE STRAIGHT YEARS in points allowed. When we won Superbowl 48, it was versus the Denver Broncos who that year was the highest scoring team in history. But in the Superbowl they were dismantled by the Legion of Boom. Seattle's defense scored several times by themselves- without the offense- and even more points alone than the Broncos did. Against the greatest offensive team in history. (Peyton Manning that year set the NFL record for TD's and yards.) These are several reasons why Seattle's Legion Of Boom is considered one of the greatest defenses in history. I'd put them against anybody. This was the 5th time the Leagues number 1 offense faced the number 1 defense in the Superbowl. Defense has won 4 out of the 5. GO HAWKS! Next please Russell Wilson- one of the best deep ball passers in the game, and one of the best running quarterbacks. You'll see how good he is at keeping a play alive and throwing on the run.

To give some context on that Super Bowl they won, the Broncos entered that game as the highest-scoring offense in NFL history, with a whopping five players with over 10 touchdowns to their name and Peyton Manning breaking just about every single-season passing record in the books. They were averaging almost 38 points per game - over five touchdowns. Seattle demolished them, 43-*8*.

That Super Bowl Seahawks team (vs. the Broncos) put on the greatest defensive performance I've ever seen. (NOTE: I wasn't alive to see the '85 Bears.)

Earl's swagger when he took out Gronk was a thing to behold. He just walks off like, yup, just another day. Meanwhile, Gronk has a couple broken ribs after that hit. LOL. #feelsbadman for Earl now, seeing as he'll probably no longer be a Seahawk after this season.
