Utter nonsense. Hogg jumped across his bows and left a cheap, stupid glance on the Welsh player. Hogg sadly had that trait in his game and was always liable to sanction, but yellow would have sufficed there. There was no doubt however, the Welsh player had been watching too much soccer!

I thought this was the worst in one way, because it was just so cynical and he ran on without a backward glance. Not a mistimed tackle- just an assault.

Aki’s red was a bit harsh. I see the reasoning behind it, though, but a mountain coming at you with speed? You’d best be committed!
@ofs827 ай бұрын
Problem is Aki's got a bit of a history of some questionable hits and clearouts in similar fashion now, he's had a fair few cards for them and also a few that haven't been carded but have been borderline. He might have got a bit unlucky on that particular occasion, but he's somebody who is less likely to get the benefit of the doubt in a judgement call as a result.

“This is what rugby has come to” is an odd title for this clip. Look back at games twenty or thirty years ago, and you’ll see much worse. That famous Barbarian v All Black try would lead to two red cards these days !

0:42 Jordan actually looks down, directly at where he's putting his boot.. deliberate AF, then acts all petulant and hard done by when he gets a well deserved red. Thankfully this sort of play is still fairly rare, but its' especially annoying when good players, who don't need to deliberately foul, resort to this crap.

nonsense. It was impossible for Barrett to see the wallaby player unless like superman he can see with xray vision. He caught the ball near his face and as he was landing there was no deliberate push or kicking motion. it was an unfortunate accident that the referee's got terribly wrong. It also didn't stop the wallaby from pushing barrett while in mid air and causing him to fall awkward ly. The reaction was to prevent a red card in the opposite direction

@@oliverjenner9251agreed. He didn’t deserve a red for that. Wallaby player just wanted an Oscar nomination. He shouldn’t have led with his foot - granted - but a yellow and 10 minutes to think about changing his technique is all the punishment that red deserved.
@oliverjenner92517 ай бұрын
@@TheCaptain001 yea, this is where we need cards between yellow and red. Like a 20 minute red they did in super rugby where the team can sub off the player after his time is up. Punish the player but not handicap a team for a single dumb mistake.

I won’t for a second condone ‘unsportsmanlike’ play like these are, but I have seen some well worse reds than this bunch. Regardless…there isn’t a huge amount of difference between a fair ‘counter ruck’ and a cynical neck breaker. A few inches off and it becomes a red rather than a turn over! It’s tough for the guys in the ruck…but above all; no guy should receive a clean shoulder to the head when committed to a ruck. Send the guy off for the season; not just the game. You could kill a brother. Not on.

He was aiming to tackle midriff but in the split second before impact the ball carrier drops like two feet. you're expecting all that kinetic energy to just shift somehow in 1/4 of a second?
@ofs827 ай бұрын
@@ynotnilknarf39 If he was trying to wrap or make a legal hit, the ball carrier dropping like that might have been seen as mitigation and he might have been able to escape with a yellow (although it was in the last 10 minutes of the game so the colour of the card would have been inconsequential in the moment), but Manu was just throwing an uncontrolled hit there, so when he made contact with the head I thought potential red card immediately when I saw it live. Some of the commentary around it was definitely influenced by North being on the receiving end, a player who has a well-known concussion history, but it's a no-arms tackle where he comes from distance with force, so there's no way it wasn't a dubious hit regardless.
@ynotnilknarf397 ай бұрын
@@ofs82 Define "uncontrolled" the wrpping of the arms is meaningless in this instance, it doesn't effect the outcome in the slightest. In fact, has wrapping of the arms reduced head injuries for tacklers and the ball carrier in union, there's no evidence of such Is there contact with the head, yes, is it a card yes, should that be a red, under the current laws of the game, it was. However, the law makers are failing to take into account how players are running and have physical mass plus speed so have a large amount of kinetic energy (this is the absolute nature of full contact rugby of either code). this cannot just be changed in an instant when the body position of the player drops unexpectedly (which was the case, Tuilagi cannot know this would occur) So are the law makers are really saying would be tacklers should be able to turn their bodies 'tron like' after reacting in a time less than that of a sprinter hearing the gun in a 100metre race and then work out the position of the player the wish to tackle when they reach them despite the unfolding act not having occured or unfolded fully yet? Whilst abolutely we want player protections, there has to be some latitude with what is a full contact sport played at speed and huge varying factors invlved. Otherwise, play touch
