My mom used to make these… Now I make them with your help… My mom would have loved your personality! Today I made Jewish fig newtons ha ha! I got a fig butter made by Trader Joe’s and that is my filling! I love trying to think up new versions of these awesome cookies! Thank you so much🙏🏻❤️

Can I make these in advance and freeze them for a Christmas cookie exchahge?
@ChristineCushing6 жыл бұрын
Yes absolutely. You can freeze them after you roll them , before baking. Or freeze them after you have baked and cooled them. Option 1 will give you freshly baked cookies closer to the date of your exchange . They are my husband's absolute FAVE

Extraodinary!! One question, if I may.. The amount of flour, as written in the recipe, is 310 gr? 1 1/4 cups is kind of 170gr...
@teresamyerscough23792 жыл бұрын
Hi, Like several other posts, I am a little confused about the measurements too. My dough didn’t seem to be nearly as much in volume as you made in the video. Also, based on visual cues, it looked more like 2 ½ C flour, 2 sticks of butter, and a full 8 oz package of cream cheese were used… not one stick butter (1/2 C) and 1/2 of one 8 oz package of cream cheese (1/2 C)… which would be the 1/2 C measurement given in a previous post. So was this a double recipe in the video? Or should I just double the amounts given in the previous post (from someone asking for the amounts of butter and cream cheese), to make a regular batch of this recipe? I just need to make a cream cheese dough that rolls out easily to use as a rolled cookie filled with something other the Rugelach filling.

Martha Stewart recipe is with 1-8oz cream cheese and 2 sticks of butter, 2 1/2 c flour, etc look for the recipe! I make hers instead for years. First time I watched this recipe. Good too.

I'm sorry that I did't see this question sooner. I wanted to tell you these cookies are great for a few weeks in a sealed container but they will loose their crisp exterior. My husband guards them with his life for well into January when I make them at Christmas

They look wonderful..i have a question for you plz thats a bit off topic..i have a stand mixer like yours..how would you suggest i clean the metal bowl to add shine..mine has marks on it from outside that i just cant seem to remove by washing?thx
@ChristineCushing6 жыл бұрын
Hi there and thanks for watching. Hmm, that's a tough one because these are polished and do scratch. I do have one idea that you might try that is delicate on the surface but tough on stains: Bar Keepers Friend , in the cream from not powder. I'd suggest trying it on a small area first to see if it scratches before using it all over. I hope this helps and I'd be curious to know if it works . Stay tuned for more videos.

For all the care you take in teaching cooking Greek dishes, I am amazed that you would be so callous and ignorant in teaching these Jewish cookies. No, you cannot just put anything in them! The definitive rugala is chopped raisins, walnuts or almonds, mixed with apricot or raspberry jam.
@nonenoneonenonenone4 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure that's a traditional shape, either. You're losing filling. Better to roll up a square, and they're usually curved a bit like a horn. NO YOU CANNOT PUT ANYTHING YOU WANT IN THEM!
@sarahm.9333 жыл бұрын
Why? What happens if you put whatever filling you want in them?
