Ruger model 77/22 bolt action 22LR. These are a high quality rimfire rifle. Scaled down from the Ruger model 77 centerfire bolt actions.
It uses a 10 round rotary magazine like the Ruger 10/22.
This one is fitted with a Weaver K4 scope.

I found my 1987with iron sites extremely durable under the toughest conditions, and the 3 way safety a major plus, I did shorten the stock chamber and tighten the bolt up at the same time by machining the face of the breech end of the barrel in a lathe. And, a little trigger work on the stock parts.

I sent mine away to Connecticut Precision Chambering and had the RUGER 77/22 L.R. accuracy combo: Includes target crown, barrel setback to new bolt match chamber, and beyond bolt tightening plus had the trigger tuned to break like a glass rod at 2.5 pounds. Spanks the same hole everytime at 50 yards.

You can pull up Ruger's website and run the numbers and you will know what year your rifle was built... No it does not take the same rotary magazine as the famous 10/22 , they are different.. Ruger's catalog will tell you that when you look on the back page.. I own both a 10/22 and second came for me was the 77/22 as i'm really a bolt gun fan and always have been...

So hey that was an ok cluster group for at least 50 yards so do tell all of us just how far away was your target?. I have one of those 10/22 st st take downs and at 50 yards I have been consistently been putting groups of 10 shots within 2 inches using remington golden bullet ammo which is not all that good, I even got tighter groups using that winchester 22LR ammo that comes in the little red plastic rectangular containers and I have found that it is a much better ammo as far as accuracy and uniformity in overall shooting.

The 77/22 does NOT take the standard 10 shot 10-22 magazine . It is different. I contacted Ruger because some other ignorant person also told me that the 10-22 magazine is interchangeable..and me not believing this, and not wishing to take chances.. I trust them, not some internet misinformation..Ruger's response was "NO"they are NOT interchangeable and though the 10-22 magazine will fit in the pocket.. it will stand proud. And, according to Ruger, it is possible to have misfeeds with the standard 10-22 magazine.. and that is the reason NOT to use the standard 10-22 magazine. I got the part number from Ruger and ordered 2 extra from my parts supplier. About $20 apiece.

two questions: 1. I noticed the mags for the 96/22 and 77/22 r marketed different than mags for a 10/22, but r they actually the same? 2. I was thinking about getting a 77/17 in 17 hornet. I was wondering if u have any experience with this round and if u would recommend it for coyotes.
@1957Shep
@1957Shep 10 жыл бұрын
If there is a difference between the mags for the 10/22 and 77/22, I can`t tell the difference. I`ve never shot anything in 17 hornet.
@Cliff_Dixon_42
@Cliff_Dixon_42 10 жыл бұрын
AFAIK, the only obvious difference between the standard 10/22 mag and the 77/22 is that the 10/22 is more rounded at the bottom. I've never tried to use a 10/22 mag on my 77/22, or vice versa (on someone else's 10/22 -- need to rectify that at some point), so I can't say whether they're interchangeable or not. But a quick search on web forums suggests that they're not; either won't fit flush, or simply won't fit.

There could be a lot of reasons for that. It could have been dropped. If the scope is damaged or it`s just one of those really cheap scopes it may not hold its zero. Could also be the rings But the most likely would be that the last owner wanted to keep the scope he had on it and swapped out the scope before he sold it and didn`t zero the scope after the swap.

Ruger makes the model 77 centerfire rifles. The 77/22 is a scaled down version of the model 77. It uses a rotary magazine like the 10/22, but it is slightly different and they do not interchange. The mags will fit, but don`t feed reliably if you use the wrong one.

Cans do better on bolt action .22lr. Semi Autos are louder, and action gets dirty very fast. I don't like wearing nor inserting no use protection in any caliber except for .338 Laupa, or .50 cal., even with a suppressors. That's my 2 cents.
