One I had made custom from an online leather company. It was a black powder belt that I had them put carriage loops all the way around it. The name of the particular company escapes me currently. I payed around $100 for it. Hope that was helpful.

I recently purchased a used 77/22 that came with a Nikon 3x9x40 ProStaff scope mounted with what I assume are the original factory mounting rings. My problem is that the bolt hits the scope every time it is operated. By any chance do you know what mounting rings were used to mount the scope in your review, as the two scopes appear to have almost identical dimensions. Are the two mounting rings the same? Thanks for your great reviews and please keep up the great work.

Is the reliability of the rifle effected? The bolt on this rifle does contact the scope but this has not effected the guns performance.
@jonertsgaard868510 жыл бұрын
TheGearTester The reliability isn't effected (it shoots great) but the bluing on the bolt handle and the scope are nicked (my 77/22 magnum was manufactured in 1991 and is blued rather than the current SS finish). It appeared that your scope was possibly sitting just a bit higher. I'll call Ruger and see what they have to say. Thanks.

Sorry that your finish got messed up. I have not noticed any issues because of the stainless bolt. Ruger has very good costumer service.

Jon Ertsgaard get the next size higher rings from ruger. This is a common problem with the Nikon scopes with the larger real lenses housing. Sadly the higher rings will run you about $80 bucks but you can sell your other rings on ebay or something to off set the cost.

+mini14gb I have the same problem. I put a medium rings and still an issue. Wondering if I put the high or extra high may not solve the problem

Hey, nice review, thank you for your info. May I inquire, sir, why you drop the rifle and reload rather than keeping your affective sight picture and operating the stick shift?
@TheGearTester7 жыл бұрын
I'm short and this rifle has a length of pull that makes it difficult to operate the bolt with the rifle on my shoulder.

TheGearTester wrong answer 🙄 never break your ‘cheek weld’ and always maintain your sight picture while cycling the bolt . Especially so easy to accomplish with a nearly zero recoiling rimfire.

What kinda leather pouch is that? Where can I get one? Neat for a 22.

Own this Rifle, one hell of a small game gun...

You should try the savage .22 mags. They have awesome accuracy.. also another gun I love is the the CZ 452 in .22 mag. Long barrel awesome trigger and just a sweet gun. Both of these guns I mentioned are cheaper than the ruger and in fairness probably just as if not more accurate than the ruger. Not saying ruger is bad.. I like ruger. But I can't see paying $700 for a .22 mag without optics or any other decor.

I zero my 77/22 Mag, cary off to the field for squirrel hunt and later shoot on paper and miss target about one finger print. This happen to me off and on through out my 3 years own the gun. Thought! It was The scope. 1st scope $90. 2nd Nikon. $275, 3rd scope Leupold $375. I thought It could be the Ring Mounted and had to redo over and over and still had the same Issue. Any Idea! Anyone please give me a tip.

+Monster Buck I would check to make sure your receiver is tight inside the stock, barrel snug to receiver, also you may need to glass bed the stock in order to improve accuracy. Also, what distance are you zeroing your rifle at? What distance were you firing at your prey? To many things could be causing this for someone to be able to diagnose online. My recommendation would be to take the firearm to a gunsmith, and have them check it over. Also please take the time to understand your firearm, how it functions, disassembles, and reassembles. These things make you that much more familiar when something goes wrong. Good luck
