I didn’t know that you have to install those V-blocks on the Boyd’s stocks. I just got the same Ruger American Predator 6.5 creedmore and was looking at the Boyd’s stocks. I was considering the Pro Varmit stock but didn’t see anything on their web site about having to install the V-blocks. I was also going to get the AI magazine kit.

I have also been looking at doing the same thing. Boyds sends V-blocks with stock but recommends bedding them. Just as he did all you need to do is bed the v-blocks. They do that because there could be slight differences in manufacturing. By bedding the action to the v-blocks you get the best fit. I am sure you could most likely not bed them, and they would work but they would not be tight fitting and point of impact could very well change over time or accuracy could not be good as well. If doing this job though I would recommend putting release agent on the magazine and make sure it fits right when screwing the stock to the receiver and checking the free float as well so that is confirmed good before leaving it to set up. I have bedded a lot of stocks in the past. I like using a release agent that is made specifically for the job. It's not that expensive and often comes in kits. Putting the action to the rear in bedding is not necessary as he did. When bedded it will fit in place and will not be shifting to the rear. The bedding takes care of all the slop and fits it perfectly in place.

Check Boyds online and see all the different stock models. They list approximate weight on all of them. You need to put in the model of your rifle to see what is available. Bedding on different rifles will not be the same.

Does the stock kit come with the epoxy and release agent to bed the stock?

Yes, for the Ruger American I ordered recently they sent the recoil lugs, action screws, trigger guard, screw for the trigger guard and the epoxy and release agent.

You did agreat job trigger is a must.10 dollar more have no problems grea job and .gun is on the money. Did my 6.5 same way. Doing my 270 next just like your 6.5 love your stock pepper. After that 6.8 is next love body's. Have a good great day sir

What is piller bedding.? Will it work with out it?

Pillar Bedding, is when the two “pillars” that are used to support the action are “bedded securely into the stock.” It will help with overall accuracy and consistency. I also bedded (securing into the stock) the two V-BLOCKS that sit in between the action and the stock. Boyds does offer this service, they will bed the two pillars for you. They recommend it being done for higher caliber (heavier recoiling) rifles.
