That LC carbine looks like the perfect backpack/truck carbine. Light, light recoil, 20 rounds, and fairly cheap at $850 online. Rounds are about $.60 on Ammoseek. Might be my next purchase!

If you buy the RUGER PC get the CHASSIS carbine. I highly recommend getting all the MCARBO internal parts you can plus their muzzle brake. Then get a TANDEMKROSS 20% stiffer recoil spring, a MAGPUL 1 & 2 point QD sling and a flush cup sling swivel for the forearm. I put a HOLOSUN AEMS circle/dot "mailbox" fully enclosed sight on teh BARREL Pic rail to maintain zero no matter how many times I removed the barrel for cleaning. With all these aftermarket parts plus a few more you may want you will have a VERY reliable carbine that will eat any ammo you want to run. Oh, yeah, buy 5 or 6 GLOCK 30 round "happy sticks" before some ass makes them illegal in yer state.

Mine works flawlessly as long as the stock screws don't work loose. On one outing it started jamming like crazy till I tightened them. I assume the loose stock altered the magazine's feed angle, producing malfunctions. I'm going to put locktite on them as a precaution.

I just ordered a PC Carbine variant, stock stock without the excessive shroud. The LC is a much better looking firearm, but the ammo is relatively expensive. It would be nice if Ruger offerred LC variant in more affordable calibers, like 22mag and 9mm. If the LC had a 9mm version, I'd have bought it over the PC, simply because I can afford to shoot it. That's why I bought the PC Carbine, 223/5.56 is just getting too expensive to have fun with my AR15's at 50cents per round.+. 9mm is bad enough anymore. I bought a few 22 pistols, just so I can have fun shooting. lol

With the difference in pricing and availability of 5.7 VS 9MM I find it hard to justify the purchase of the LC Carbine verses the PC Carbine At this time there are very few 5.7 pistols on the market as opposed to the numerous 9MM pistols available. The PC Carbine uses Ruger Security 9 and SR9 17 round magazines AND the ability to use Glock magazines. I'll save the $$$ and stock up on 9MM ammo that I can use in both the PC Carbine and all my 9MM pistols!!!!

@@Tmthy_Dstn The PC Carbine/Charger is based on an outdated design, the same one the 10/22 and the .44 Deerstalker is based on. They're both "classic" wood and steel firearms. If Ruger wants to appeal to the contemporary market, they need to get with the modern times before all the FUDs die off. "Light, tactical, modular", is where they might want to focus their resources
@namyun2743
@namyun2743 Жыл бұрын
@@Tmthy_Dstn The Charger is overwight and has the design of an overweight, bloated. "tacticooled" 10/22. It's outdated and can't compete with modern designs like the "AR-9", even when they're both direct blowback. Some of latest "AR-9" pattern pistols have locked breeches. Before the LC1, Ruger wasn't really known for innovating. But LC1 changed that image. They took a modified Ruger 57 pistol frame and fire control group to make a fairly lightweight, tactical, modular carbine. It's really too bad they couldn't go all the way and make the LC1 the gold standard or even just better. $1000+ MSRP for an almost 6 lb, direct-blowback carbine in the here and now is not a good value. It needs a locked breech, and at least a lb shaved off its weight. They can easily accomplish the latter by addressing the former.

Thanks good video. A 5.7 carbine happens to be the single best weapon option for my situation. In a survival scenario, it can hunt small game, pierce level 3 soft armor without over penetrating the target, light weight, etc. I also like the range it offers in comparison to it's intended use. Like basically it's effective right up to the point where accuracy would require a long range optic anyway.
@1977TheHammer
@1977TheHammer 9 ай бұрын
You think 5.7m ammo will be plentiful in "a survival scenario"? Second, you will NOT get 5.7 civilian ammo to defeat Level 3. That's the armor peircing ammo only available to militaries and police, and even if you could source it, it's illegal to import to the USA. If you need more range than a 9mm, consider .223 or .300 BLK.

@@1977TheHammer I unfortunately agree. It's hard to find ammo locally as is. I guess what I should have said was that "in theory" the 5.7 meets my needs best. 9mm ammo is absolutely everywhere so I tend to rely on it even when I could do better.

FN as a company has restricted its sale to government agencies, but it is still very much available to the public second hand if you’re willing to pay for it. Only advantage the LC has over my Hi-point, is weight and magazines. I've fired over 1000 rounds with not one misfire or jam. It shoots absolutely any brand or bullet weight you run thru it. It's accuracy is quite good. And the advantage my Hi-Point is $$$. I can have two Hi-Points outfitted like mine for the cost of one LC. Yeah I know, I know....but its a Hi-Point....if you've never tried one, then you have no idea.

Thanks for the great overview/comparison. I also own PC Carbine. Five things this new 5.7 (nato round) carbine brings that I've seen PCC owners beef about for years: (1&2) much lighter yet still packable with folding stock (3) hopefully silences the vocal 10mm crowd (4) 5.7 penetrates L3 armor and increases terminal range +100 yrds over 9mm (5) adds a few more rounds in a G7 size mag. And from a business perspective it doesn't directly cannibalize their 9mm firearm sales. Smaht, very smaht. I'm envious of the weight for sure.

Great review. That LC trigger is hot garbage. I hope they fix that in the future. Besides 9mm hitting harder, and costing HALF as much or even less than the 5.7mm... the PCC can carry 30 rounds or even drum magazines because of the Glock adapter! 20 rounds of dainty 5.7 simply comes up WAYYYYY short of the 50 rounds in the KelTec P50, or the FN P90. @@paconone Oh sure it will kill. So will a sling shot wrist rocket with a ball bearing to the head. My point was that round with its cost is ridiculously irrelevant. I’d rather have a .22LR, 9mm, 380 or .22 magnum with ammo that costs 75% less than 5.7. That’s why it’s good for nuth’n. But hey buddy if you like it, I love it! The more people that buy that 5.7 round, the more those also might forgo the 9mm ammo on the shelves and leave more for people like me. 😎

@@colt10mmsecurity68 it is highly effective again research the Fort Hood incident I think cost of ammo went by the wayside on that one. Can't use price when it comes to defense use. You don't need more than 20 rounds. Practicing? Use reloads. Over penetration? No such thing with the 5.7 round. It tumbles. Have you not seen 1 gel test on youtube? There are like 30 of em on youtube. The LC pens about 12-16inch in gel. Same as most 9mm. That being said it also pens armor where 9mm can't do at all.
@AdventureswithaaronB
@AdventureswithaaronB Жыл бұрын
@@danielwhite9205 OK, first of all, saying you can’t put a price on defense is only half correct. Most people simply cannot afford to spend nearly a dollar around. Second of all, I would love to get into reloading but simply don’t have the space or the knowledge. Also, I don’t remember the KZbin video but there’s been a couple tests where it failed to penetrate armor. A lot of the people that do these tests do it at 20 feet. Granted for a self-defense situation that would be the range but I rest my case. Lastly, practice is important, and when it’s so expensive you just don’t wanna shoot it that much

I wish they'd do a new PCC that wasn't so...ugly. I've had mine since they came out, it shoots great, but it looks Fuddy AF. I'm not sure the takedown is a feature worth keeping in the future. It sacrificed a lot I feel for that. If I want a compact 9mm rifle, I think the Keltec is a better choice for convenience.
@XrayMike17plus1

IMO they screwed up when they dropped the take-down feature. A 16 in barrel seems like overkill but it was probably to side step NFA/ATF BS. That length adds to the decidedly odd looks of this - just too much rail and the absence of a magwell just seems off... IMO they should have offered this in a 11 or 12 inch barrel, which is where the lack of take-down sucks because it would have give consumers more choices in aftermarket customization. A12 inch model with a folding stock or brace would have been far more packable. Second the 5.7 round is definitely in need of help. Rumor is that stateside production will eventually help availability issues but the cost and energy on target is still an issue. Despite claims of 3A body armor penetration that is a function of round selection not of the caliber. Only certain rounds will penetrate 3A body armor as armor piercing 9mm variants will - but those rounds are illegal in allmost every state due to the 'cop killer' reputation. AFAIK the 5.7 still tops out at a projectile weight of 40 grains which is inadequate as a defense round when not fired from a full auto or select-fire weapon as FN designed it to be used in a PDW role. This whole thing appears to be more about Ruger safeguarding their investment into 5.7 and trying to push a special-purpose round into the mainstream. IMO a .30 carry magnum or 9mm magnum PCC would make more sense and 9mm magnum could possibly take the place of the 9mm Major wildcat round used in IPSEC competition shooting.

The 5.7 was suppose to replace the 9 mm in certain situations. It does a number of things better than the 9 mm does. However the PC carbine is a better designed carbine. The LC carbine has poor safety and magazine placement. It has no forward assist and comes with only one 10 round magazine. It’s just not well designed for anything other than plinking and cool looking factor. And that’s a shame because it wouldn’t be difficult to make this a reliable and properly designed for home defense or hunting.

Not how it works with the 57 round. Reason why the carbine is 16inch in length is because the sweet spot for FPS/pen is at that length. Shortening it even a little will drastically reduce pen performance. If that doesn't matter to you great.
