Sorry that I'm a bit late getting around to watch your videos. I tend to be preoccupied with my own virtual endeavors and whatever "real world" life I can squeeze in. Have seen several this weekend and just wanted to say that I find your work very interesting. I love your slightly quirky personality, and believe me; I know "quirky"!!! I generally speed right on past "quirky" into the "weirdo" category myself, and I'm proud of it. :-) I've not seen everything you've done, but it's very obvious you have REAL experience and know what your're talking about, not to mention being very articulate, as well. I see lots of common sense regarding firearms and ammo in your videos, often on topics where quite a lot of people tend to fly off into all sorts of myths and misconceptions. You provide lots and lots of useful little tips that I hope your viewers appreciate. Take care! Hickok45

Always love Paul's evaluations. My experience with my PC Carbine is much different. My aging eyes do better with a scope, so I put a 1-4 power variable scope on my Ruger PC Carbine. Not having sighted it in, I began at 10 yards, and after putting a hole in the target, I failed to see any other holes from my subsequent rounds. Upon approaching the target, I found all my rounds produced a single hole not much larger than a 9mm bullet. I was impressed, to say the least, so I sighted it in and went to 15 yards, where I was able to place all rounds in a single, slightly ragged hole. So far, all I had used was some 30 year old, cheap, brass colored Chinese ammo. I found that my Underwood, +P, Extreme Defender, 65 grain ammo, was just as accurate, although the point of aim changed by about an inch. Losing the Iron sights, proved to me that this carbine is capable of exceptional accuracy. I will have to Chrono the Underwood ammo, but I'm guessing MV will exceed 2000 FPS (close range deer a possibility?) I had zero problems with function, and am very impressed with the PC carbine. I have no connection to Ruger, or any other manufacturer, but I am impressed.
@bdm10004 жыл бұрын
That's a great point. It was a very good video, and he did mention the short sight radius was easily rectified, but it would have been even better to see a comparison between the Ruger PC Carbine and the Beretta CX4 Storm both scoped with the exact same glass or red or green dot optic. Maybe Paul will use some patreon money to purchase two or three identical Holosuns that he can make direct comparisons with.
@m.danielmills70914 жыл бұрын
I have to say I purchased this on a impulse buy for a decent (california) price. It being a Ruger it was practically a given that it would be reliable. I also knew that it being a Ruger that at least in my experience, it would likely be very inaccurate out of the box like my old mini 14. When I finally got a chance to shoot it I was correct on the reliability. Hundreds of rounds of different stripes, zero hiccups. Both the ruger mags and the included glock well worked great. I was DEAD WRONG about the accuracy out of the box with the Iron sights. Similar to like how you described I saw the first hits from about 15 yards. Many rounds went thru the exact same relative entry point. I was very impressed. I think I'll pick up another one if I can find it.
@markbarry33943 жыл бұрын
I have a PC carbine (using Glock magazines) with an EOTech red dot sight mounted and I have to say out to 100 meters it is shooting groups within 2-3 inches (Federal 115 grain)...about the maximum I would employ it with 9mm. My wife and I (both ex military and LEO) think it is a great carbine right out of the box. We are both really impressed with it.
@stevemiller74333 жыл бұрын
Good point. The barrel is good quality and is capable of good accuracy. A simple 4x scope made mine very accurate. . That Ghost ring works ok for quick shots but not for any distance.

Greetings from the Czech Republic. About a half a year ago I bought the Ruger PCC, since then I´ve put around 400 rounds through it and not a single malfunction. I´ve also tried different loads, even ones that are very weak and it chewed through everything. The only thing I don´t like is the takedown feature, because if you do not tighten the barrel correctly, it shoots horrible. That being said I put a Vortex Crossfire red dot on it and am being able to get 5 cm(2 inch) groups at 50 meters(55 feet). The reason why I bought the ruger was the cost since Evo and Ar9 cost around 32500 crowns (+-1500 dollars), and ruger costs 18500 (+-840 dollars). The weight is good thing for me since I don´t carry it around and it keeps the shots in place. I can only recommend.

My father was an Army Ranger stationed in the Panama Canal Zone during WWII. His squad/patrol slept in tents from the north (Pacific Ocean) to the south (Atlantic Ocean) while they looked for Jap and Nazi soldiers who were trying to shut down the canal. Everyone in his patrol had a choice of weapons. No one would touch an M1 carbine. He said in a fire-fight, the carbine was worthless compared to the M1 Garand. He was in one or more of these encounters with the Nazis. He talked me out of buying a used M1 carbine in the late 60's because of his story. That rifle had been used in Europe against the Germans. Now, I wish I would have bought it because of its history. Paul, all of your videos are worth watching. Thanks.

Will do all of those well for me. I added a Red Dot, light, sling and brass catcher for the range. Put 300 rounds down range and it never malfunctioned. Love that it is made in the USA. The location of the rear sight on the Ruger PCC is actually an enormous attraction for me. Being 60 yo but still having 20/15 vision it works well for me because I, as most all people beyond their late 40's, require Reading Glasses for anything up to about 18". I even added all the spacers on my stock, increasing the pull but also giving me a usable sight picture. The ability to use Glock Magazines in it is also another huge plus for me. I love my old P95 but the mags won't work. The cut out in the mag body that catches the Magazine Latch is in a different place so without modification i.e. gettin' Farmer on it with a Dremel, they won't work.

@tacticalsanta52585 жыл бұрын
When I first bought my Ruger PCC I loved it, but within a few hundred rounds it started getting fails to eject which were usually stove pipes with the occasional partial extract and resulting log jam. Over a few more range trips and some attempts at 'process of elimination' switching ammo and mags, the problem only got worst. I was about to give up on it when I thought to check the three Allen head screws that affix the 'takedown' coupler to the receiver; sure enough they'd come quite loose. I re-tighten them and it's run flawlessly ever since. The only thing I didn't like about it, other than that brief time it wasn't behaving, was how hard it was for my quinquagenary eyes to quickly or easily get a sight picture using the iron sights. A red dot most certainly resolved that issue, but I still wanted a better iron sight set-up should the red dot fail. Enter the Tandemkross fiber optic from sight upgrade. That along made all the difference. I decided to take it a step further and used florescent orange paint on the ghost ring to make that pop. Now it's so, so much easier and accurate to shoot. I too was surprised at how much recoil is felt, I suspect it's the tungsten block in the bolt carrier group.
@CircleOfSignfighters2 жыл бұрын
Hello friend from the distant past! I've long wanted one of these and given the chance to fire one was shocked at the felt recoil. It's 9MM! Why does it feel like I'm getting slugged? I may end up revisiting the platform now that the MK2 versions are out and I have a more realistic expectation of the platform. There's a lot to offer here. Thanks for your input on potential assembly flaws. :)

Go to the rental gun ranges. They all love the Beretta, it’s far away their favourite PCC. However the Ruger is new and is showing up and may also end up taking this spot. So far however both my local ranges say the Beretta is still their favourite. However the Kriss Vector is the favourite for shooters, (probably due mostly to appearance and reputation). But already there is a very large aftermarket for the Ruger and at least 3 configurations and 3 new trigger groups so there’s that.

It's a bedside carbine that when dealing with an assailant home intruder, one doesn't want to over penetrate into the neighbor's home and take them out too - and if have to go into the outdoors with it, will be able to shoot more accurately at range than with a pistol. And it's manageable when using 30rd mags with it - a pistol with a 30rd mag hanging out of it, not so much. In some jurisdictions, it's easier to obtain than a pistol. Beyond self-defense scenario, it's fun to shoot and more affordable than the rifle cartridge long guns, but admittedly not as affordable as 22LR for just pleasure shooting. Sometimes one wants to pleasure shoot with more serious punch but not at .308 prices (yeah, yeah, I know - that's what the Russians gave us 7.62x39 for - cheap pleasure shooting).

Yes, two rather differing impact energies but what's a jug of colored water or a shoot-n-see sticky target care. I also thought it might be reasonably effective should crowd control become an issue on the home-front brought on perhaps by a Kung-Flu panicked pack of 2-legged beasties. Excellent review, and no, you didn't burst my bubble. I didn't expect Creedmoor accuracy and I respect your bias-free perspective. Stay Well -

The bit no one can factor into a review is how much someone else is going to enjoy that firearm. If you like a particular gun, for whatever reason that appeals to you, you'll enjoy it. If you keep worrying about what others think about your firearm or caliber, you'll never be happy. Too many seem so invested in their choices and uninformed opinions gained from the internet, they get really upset over anyone else choosing an alternative. IMO, there's nothing worse than someone trying to tell someone else what gun they should have and why the one they are buying is worthless, without having the slightest idea what that person's circumstances are and the environment they live in. I'm just glad there are other enthusiasts out there and that manufacturers keep coming up with new and sometimes resurrected versions of products from the past to tempt us to buy something else. That's one of the things I like about Paul's videos, is that he doesn't try to tell others what they should do, but instead discusses things and puts forward ideas that help you make your own decisions and learn some new techniques and things along the way.
