Thanks, this was extremely helpful. Cleaning a max that was traveling in a backpack that also had honey in it...yeah it happened the cap came off the honey lol.
@johnnyshootsalot Жыл бұрын
If you got honey IN the gun, I may go a little farther and remove the firing pin, clean it's channel, and tear the frame down to clean up all that stuff too. If it was just on the outside, you'll probably be fine with a normal field strip cleaning.
@gusbeyiv8357 Жыл бұрын
I cleaned it thoroughly for hours at least five times, took it to the range and it was fine the first time, after the incident, but the second time I went to the range more honey worked it's way loose and got into the rails so I spent more time doing a deeper cleaning but I didn't take loose the firing pin I will look for a video to show me how

I’d take apart farther and then use ultrasonic cleaner

Do the narrow applicator tips come on the Lucas oil or do you buy them separately?
@johnnyshootsalot2 жыл бұрын
You can get the small containers with the applicator. REALLY makes it go a long way. I have a larger bottle, and thought I'd use it to refill the small one, but have only used like 1/2oz over several months.

I’ve had mine for about 2 months and have been testing various ammos through it. I’ve gone through about 500 rounds and have had mixed results. One important observation, it HATES Fiocchi ammo (range dynamics). I cannot go more than 4 shots without a failure to feed or extract. Mainly failures to feed. Here are my results: Brand / Fired / Failures CCI Blazer: 150/1 Fiocchi Range Dynaimcs: 100/25+ Federal American Eagle: 100/2 Unknown Range Ammo: 50/0 Hornady Critical D. JHP: 50/1 Federal Punch Self Defense: 50/2 I have to say, I’m not very impressed with the reliability. I would love to hear if anyone has any suggestions to improve the reliability or which ammo works best. I really love this gun, but I don’t trust it.

If you watch some of my other LCP videos, I go into detail about which brands and types of ammunition have worked well and which ones haven't.

I’d say you had impossibly good luck with the Hornady critical defense, considering that’s a 22 magnum cartridge.

How many rounds do you have through your MAX in .380?
@josephfogus6735 Жыл бұрын
I'm at 1400 rounds with the lcp 2 with ZERO malfunctions or failures various jhp and fmjs
@kayok072 жыл бұрын
I'm suprised you didnt clean the mags since they are usally a big failure point especially in 22 since they seem to get a little dirtier
@johnnyshootsalot2 жыл бұрын
I clean the mags on occasion. But I have 4 that work well, and they really don't get that dirty. I usually just wipe them off after each range trip.

Where did you get that stainless barrel?
@johnnyshootsalot Жыл бұрын
That's the stock barrel.
@AAA-Wolf Жыл бұрын
Wait, why does yours have a safety? I have the LCP 2 and mine doesn’t have a safety (which is good because I hate safety’s on pistols). Is it only the .22 version that has that?
@johnnyshootsalot Жыл бұрын
It's only on the .22

After shooting mine for maybe a year and a half, testing different ammo it wouldn't shoot anything reliability. I sold it. Probably the worst gun I've owned. You've got a 50/50 chance of getting one that works when you buy one. absolute junk garbage pistol

That is not reflective of the vast majority of owner's experiences. And unless there is a major defect with a main component, which Ruger would certainly be willing and able to rectify, all other problems are relatively easy to solve with some basic troubleshooting. I know several folks with these and some needed minor issues solved, but all are high quality and very fun guns.
