Nut, the review that I'm really waiting for, is the LC MAX, 10 OZ doble stack micro compact 380. That's the gun that Ruger can brag is a game changer. I'm a air lite snubby guy for EDC with all their shortcomings. But if this gun is reliable, it may be gun that change my preference for EDC for the last 25 years.

I really like mine. Shot well, easy to conceal high capacity compared to other competition. Only issue Ive seen is its a little hard to cycle the gun manually. If you dont really rack it hard rounds will get stuck/ it wont lock back on empty mag. I really think it fits me well though. Lets me carry all the time when I might not have previously.

For those that dont realize....this is literally just a double stack, RDS ready, restyled LC9s!! Which is what SO MANY wanted for YEARS after the LCP 2 came out and improvements in tech/ccw guns happened The entire trigger/striker release module from my old LC9s fits right into the max 9 frame( i swapped em as my lc9s has a trigger job and the magazine diconnect removed)

I've been carrying a 365XL since they released, but ever since Ruger came out with the LCP Max, I've found myself carrying it everyday now. It's just so convenient and light weight. Perfect for deep concealment, and the extra round capacity makes it all the better. Every company has been trying to carve themselves a slice of the pie in competition with the P365 & it's higher capacity, ever since they released it. Ruger said "we've got the popular tiny LCP, so let's go this route with .380". And man, I'm glad they did.
@clutchcargo12392 жыл бұрын
For carry compliance made easy... LCP Max is the ticket. I wasn't fond of the trigger bite I was getting, I didn't find it pleasant or comfortably to shoot. My wife said she was done after a couple rounds... So, I did a little homework, and got a Sigurd trigger for starters. I also added a 13lb outer recoil spring, and the Mcarbo spring kit. I put grease on the hammer spring to remove the twangy feel, and damn, its actually really fun to shoot now, and my wife approves too. Even without the mods to make it a better shooter, for carry compliance, you can't beat the LCP Max... Never leave home without it, and it's comfortable in a pocket.

I am not happy with this pistol. First 180 rounds no problems. Next 120 rounds I've had 15 or so failure to feed, and the little flap/door that covers the take down pin has broken and falls down. I have seen this is a problem in numerous videos on YT, this should not be happening. The failure to feed can only be rectified in my case by hitting the slide release. It gets stuck right in front of the feed ramp slightly pushed out of the mag. I used the same Winchester 115g target/practice ammo in the same 3 mags, 1 10rnd & 2 12rnd. The trigger is trash, maybe the galloway trigger would help, IDK but I can't trust this pistol and it's getting tossed.

You're wrong about the blacked-out rear sights. They are not going anywhere they've been around awhile and they're only gaining popularity because it works. You get out there and shoot an awful lot and you're used to Three Dots and that's why you like them. But the fact is the blacked-out rear sight is much easier for you to focus on your Target and the front sight.
@mikem21322 жыл бұрын
I prefer a blacked out rear sight too for target shooting, I think the 3 dots can be distracting. Especially shooting at 25 yards, I really have to focus on the front sight. I can see 3 dot night sights being beneficial in low light conditions though, but I guess it’s all personal preference. I really don’t get too much into the nitty gritty with most people about their preferences, I’m just happy when we have more people carrying.
@powernoodle12242 жыл бұрын
My view has changed over the years, and I now prefer a blacked-out rear sight. It just makes the front sight easier to find. I'll use a Sharpie to black out rear sights on my 3-dot guns.
@CallsignWulf2 жыл бұрын
Ditto here. Then again, I also don't shoot like you are "supposed to". I focus on target when using irons, not front sight. Dot or no it doesn't matter to me on the front sight, I just line up the top of the sights, make sure it's centered, and I can get 100-yard shots standing like that. Maybe I'm the odd one out but I just cannot do front sight focus. But with the way you are "supposed" to shoot, you get rear sight focus, then front sight, then target, then front sight again. Your eyes cannot focus on more than one plane at a time. Adding dumb dots on your rear sights just makes it more confusing for your eyes. I can shoot either just fine but I sharpie or replace my rears because the dots or lines do absolutely jack for me. Running optics nowadays anyway so no markings at all for me, the irons are a backup only.
@TacticalDoodle2 жыл бұрын
Cool for well-lit target, for a carry pistol I would want something that helps you align it quicker. Flat black is something we train with okay, but I wouldn't want my gf to rely on a front-dot (like she'd have to use sights anyway, but that's what they're there for) and matted out rear unless she practices drawing and presenting a lot. For non-shooting-enthusiasts, I see them draw up, and do that little wag back and forth trying to find the front. Gun guys like us, eh, NBD.
@mikem21322 жыл бұрын
@@TacticalDoodle You’re right, there’s sights that can help new shooters and people that don’t practice much. But nothing replaces good training. I own several Rugers beginning in 1971 with the Ruger Standard. The LC9 series was really the beginning of the micro compact carry craze. Unfortunately, Ruger blew it with the horrible trigger on the 1st LC9. They made it up with the LC9S/LC9S Pro, which has been my main carry gun since 2015. My only complaint was the single stack which was fine for pocket carry and I used the somewhat awkward 9rd mag for hip carry. The Sig 365XL is now taking over the 365 market because of a longer barrel, less recoil, and a full 5” grip. Ruger would do well to follow in their footsteps with a similar offering plus tritium rear sights and a picatinny cut. If they priced it under $500, I guarantee it would be a best seller.

Never been trained to shoot a hand gun. I never had hand guns when I was yunger. I was a dead rye with any rifle but there not the same. I'll look into it more. I have a couple of acquaintances that are dead eyes with a handgun if you can get them sober but they're not divulging their secrets. Such is the world of jackasses. Sig P365XL or the original P365 are the two best sub compact 9mms period. Everyone else just copied Sig who innovated and created this popular segment of double stack 9mm sub compact handguns. I don’t understand why anyone would buy any of the other offerings. Springfield is a sellout of a company, Ruger’s are typically cheap feeling to me, S&W is probably 2nd best and the only other one I would consider, Kimber made a POS, Glock doesn’t even have a double stack sub compact 9mm unless you get the aftermarket mags from another company and that’s the truth folks! No frills, nothing is great but it does everything well and again they make the most reliable pistols on the market. Lol, I love a lot of pistols though as I have plenty of Sigs including the P226 and M18 as far as pistols are concerned. I turned around one day last year and realized I was a Sig fanboy and didn’t even realize it until I looked at how many pistols and rifles I have of theirs. The takedown plate broke and I couldn't get the slide off and while I was shooting it the slide would lock open with rounds still in the magazine and wouldn't lock open after the last round. Ruger has it now and is supposedly fixing it but from what I hear they just replace the broken parts with the same low quality parts. Their quality control is not up to par which sucks because it is a fun pistol to shoot and a great size for concealed carry but if the pistol isn't reliable then it isn't safe.

Sir did you or anyone else notice a little excessive slide play with this gun? Held first one today and thought it had a little too much play towards end of the slide? Maybe it's the chassis design norm or something? But any answers are appreciated?

Just my 2 cents, I was carrying a standard s&w shield daily then bought the ruger max 9 shot about 300 rounds though it and it's not a bad pistol especially for the money, but I never carried it much...sold it and stepped up to a shadowsystems mr 920 ( glock 19 clone) it's as easy to carry as the shield and more shootable than the max 9. But for 12 rounds in the mag the max 9 is very small.

i’m no expert and you know way more than me, but I have seen quite a few gun channels, mentioning that it’s a better idea not to have a light on the carry gun because it makes it easier for the other guy to hit you. on the other hand, maybe it will help blind him.

I love cross eye dominant shooters. Right handed left eye shooters make range days entertaining because they are like seeing a rainbow. You have to stop and soak in what is happening. My friend looks so hard to the right to line up his left eye that it looks like he is looking at someone else's target.
@jonathan22822 жыл бұрын
I stopped using my left eye because it's so much faster and easier to use my right eye. I feel like all those years using my left eye were a waste of time.

I have an LC9s Pro, the Max 9 looks kinda like a thicker version of it. My LC9s Pro has a decent trigger. Lot's of pre travel, no stacking, a light 3.5lb break, and the reset is a little longer than many other guns, but overall, it's not bad. Love my G43... One of my favorites, first ever Glock, but talk about a gun with a terrible trigger out of the box... Gritty, and almost 8lbs... I fixed that right away.

Sorry, but not sorry. Tried the Glock 43, nothing about it that just overwhelmed my Glock 26. Less capacity, incompatible with the 40 odd Glock 9mm mags and 5 other double stack 9mms that take Glock mags. If I want something similar, in size and thickness, why would I not carry my Sig 365? If you are going off the Glock 9mm ranch, go with something better, as you said earlier in the video. And if I want ultralight, will stick with my .380 Bodyguard. We have a long term relationship, during the summer have to clean it once a month, not due to shooting, but due to rust from sweat and an accumulation of lint and pocket sand.

Blacked out rear sights are legit. I use them on all my pistols. I run fiber optic red front and blacked out rear cuz the reality is if i cant see my sights, i cant see the target and therefore need a light, whether it be handheld or WML. All i need to see is my front sight post between the rear notch and the shot is an acceptable. Fiber optic front and blacked out rear will always be superior to all other pistol sights. And for ppl that need super stealth mode, run a red dot on ur pistol. Tritium is done. Its a thing of the past.

Please review the LCP max as well. I really tried to like my LCP2 but I just couldn’t stop sucking with it. I ultimately sold it and put the money toward a max. I’m much better with it and it fits a nice size between my .25acps and my 365xl.
@DamionJR49232 жыл бұрын
The LCP max has actual sights and is just enough bigger to get a good grip. I traded my LCP 2 for a max and I wish I had both. I never bought a gun to get rid of it. But I have a better gun now and the wife gave the trade in a 👍.

Just picked up an LCP Max this week. 3 12-round mags supposed to be here tomorrow. I bought a leather 'wallet' pocket holster, I do not like it. I am going to see if the people who made my G43 kydex pocket holster have one for the LCP Max.

I carry a gen 1 M&P 45 (4.5in barrel) daily. It’s because it’s my only gun on my Cali CCW permit. As a donor I want to see a review on the M&P 10mm and my crazy idea is to find a way to get that slide and put it on my 45. We can’t get these new guns in CA at the moment so that’s my work around. A 10mm carry would be awesome. Btw I love the look of the original 45 and it was my first hand gun.
