I think the PDP will do well in the market. 4w Dione Kollee Great, honest review. It takes a solid pistol to get Nutn excited. I used to work at a gun store in CA & we had one come in for LE. Felt great in the hand & it looks heavier than it really is. It was great to see Miz Nutn excited about it as well! 1mo David Threadgold I think that’s what amazed me was it looks heavy than I picked it up and was so surprised. Didn’t feel as good in hand as the PPQ to me. I had a PPQ 5 inch but was forced to sell it as a poor 2d Lt years ago, now the only ones I can find are the Q5 Match models which are at least $800. Will definitely be keeping my eye out for a nice used PPQ 5 inch. 2 4w Matthew Hargis Thanks Nutn. My wife and I love the PPQ. I was able to shoot a buddies PDP 4” compact this past summer after it released. Loved it. My Canik mags worked in it just like they do in a PPQ M2. Another positive for it. 1 4w Richard Leonard Good review, but I'm still not sure about useing red dot's on a pistol. I'm sticking with my PPQ and PPS 40 cal pistols for a while. 4w David Threadgold I switched because my eyes are getting old and I can barely see the front sight and hate wearing glasses for shooting. The red dot is perfect for that reason for sure. Watch this guy on red dots you will never go back. kzbin.info/www/bejne/bpDSoayrqrKqZ7s This guy is awesome I tried his technique and was blown away on how fast and accurate I was the first time trying his technique. Very similar to Nutnfancy. I know I am far from how good Nutnfancy is but nothing wrong with experimenting 4w David Threadgold If Nutnfancy is still reading these how warm do those gloves keep your hands I ordered some because they are super cheap love it. It’s -10 with wind maybe-20 and my light weight pig gloves don’t come close to helping. I use my cheap TSC hardware gloves. Those look a little better than pig gloves that’s the light weight ones 4w Josh Mullins Nutn, I really do recommend you give pistol red dots another shot at some point. Try something like the 507C with the ACSS reticle. If you have proper eye alignment it'll just function normally. If you're off, the large outer ring helps correct you and give immediate feedback on where your dot is at. 4w hoplite ⚔️ a.k.a. Greg It looks super cool! 4w hoplite ⚔️ a.k.a. Greg I think I may have scored the last PPQ LS in Canada. The couple used options I looked at first didn’t work out but found one online retailer with one in stock. Can’t wait to take it to the range. First LS. I went huntin after Nutn mentioned it was discontinued. 1 4w matt PPQ was my first center fire handgun I have M1 version and an M2 version. Love that gun. PDP LOOKS LIKE A GREAT ONE. Might have to add one to my Walther colection. I Have 5 so far. Thank you for all the work you do nutn 1 4w hoplite ⚔️ a.k.a. Greg Sick. 5 Walthers. Awesome. 4w Michael Rodman I was never a fan of the way the PPQ looked, but always wanted to try one cause of you and everyone else loving the trigger and accuracy. Though I like the looks of the PDP so I’ll have to get one at some point. Can’t wait for the TNP knife release and great review as always Nutn! 3w Damionjr I bought a PPQ SC before covid really was in full lockdown mode. It was/is hard to find magazines for it. 1st advocates LOL you been alive before World War 2?? I was packing the Walther P99 over 20 years ago, I just sold my P99 and they are making them the last run recently, the whole fire striker system is all the same Canik, the PDP is a TANK of a pistol tho, they say the F is for Female which is crazy because it's still a MASSIVE pistol!! I like all the lines and cut outsbbut damn they are still a full size duty pistol. My Sig P365 ive had them all and ended up with the X Macro, tossed the stock 3 inch barrel and got a big as one as I can fit in there 3.45 inch Match gold barrel it stops past the first cut in the front of the slide and I had it ported and its really a mid size pistol and it does show her butt in summer cloths, I wish I would have kept my regular P365 just for my summer shorts, so I grabbed the Ruger LCP Max holds 12+1 in .380 and damn its a sweet FUN little pistol! If everyone shot thr Ruger LCP Max or LCP its a very small it's a very short barrel but it has top notch night sights like the Sig has!!! Shooting the Ruger LCP will make you such a great pistol shooter, it really teaches you to keep that pistol still and any tiny movement throws off the shot, the Ruger being so small really makes it a FUN pistol to shoot, its a pocket gun for walking to the car from the club and you cant tell you have anything in the front pocket! My .380 shoots the HST's they rip through 3 jugs of water and opens up completely!! And the Underwood Extreme Penetrators showing 1400 FPS obviously not that fast out of a tiny barrel but the .380 is the same bullet diameter as the 9mm a lot of people don't know they should, .357, .38 Special they are all 9mm rounds. But the way ammo is made they are a great round to protect you against 2 legged thugs they run the first time it barks. The .380 acp you just watch and see is making a come back as did 10mm I love my 10mm Springfield Elite, the Beretta made a beautiful Storm .380 compact the P365. The .380 is going to increase accuracy and concealment is best it gets front pocket pull and smoke!!! Nobody will out draw a hand in pocket ready to pull n go!

This is easily my favorite polymer framed pistol under $1000. I have really big hands and it feels like this was made just for me. My first option out of a list of around 12 pistols - is the WALTHER PDP PRO SD with 9mm 18+1, Holosun 508T-RD-X2; and the Streamlight TLR-1HL. I spend several months and many hours on KZbin listening to what others have to say about performance and reliability. Went to the range and test fired it. All I kept saying was "HOLY SHIT.....WOW" and I was very impressed with my shot group (no not the side of a barn). I say around 25 feet and paper targets. As all the commentators and firearms' enthusiast - The Walther PDP PRO SD pistol (in my opinion) stands out as a pinnacle of modularity and versatility in the world of duty pistols. With an array of features catering to customization and adaptability, this firearm exemplifies innovation in design. I love how it fits in my hands and the esthetics. Here's what I think about it's Performance: The Walther PDP PRO SD pistol delivers on its promise (watch the many videos - yes! on KZbin) of being a duty-ready firearm. The combination of these features translates into a reliable and user-friendly shooting experience. The modularity not only enhances performance but also accommodates individual shooter preferences. Durability: Walther has a history of producing durable and reliable firearms, and the PDP PRO SD appears to continue this tradition. Quality materials and precision engineering contribute to the pistol's longevity, making it a reliable companion in various duty scenarios. Conclusion: The Walther PDP PRO SD pistol stands as a testament to the brand's commitment to innovation and user-centric design. Its modular features, including the Picatinny rail, optics-ready capability, reversible mag release, and various customization options, make it an excellent choice for those seeking a duty pistol that adapts to their unique needs. Walther has successfully combined versatility with performance, resulting in a firearm that meets the high standards expected of a duty pistol. LASTLY: I say to always check for the latest reviews and user feedback (KZbin) to ensure you get the latest up-to-date information on any weapon ....you paying for it. Might as well do your homework. - G

Got into the PPQ many years ago and had a 5 inch M1 (never should have sold) and a 4 inch M1. Ended up moving on from the PPQ due to consolidating on one handgun system and goind to DA/SA. Been looking at factory optic ready handguns lately though and the PDP has my attention. I consider other factors with switching handgun systems and that is customer service and LE/MIL porgrams. I know from past experience that Walther CS is excellent. The LE/MIL program is still pretty good from what I see. At least it looks like you can buy direct from them still, unlike CZ who does not even offer parts discounts anymore.

Think that tapered seal is called a “step chamber” and improves accuracy/velocity but also pressure. This might be why the PDP has a bit more pronounced muzzle flip (sprinco and others make ss rod/springs that supposedly reduce that significantly).

Although only time will tell, I have heard from a mechanical engineer that the red dot milling system on the PDP would be fragile because of the lack of inertial dampening lugs for the plates. Said another way the ONLY inertial dampening for the red dot is those small mounting screws which should only be used for downward compressive force and not to dampen forward and backward inertial force.
@codean9092 жыл бұрын
People have tested this potential issue… numerous drop tests and smashing the optic against objects to rack the slide. Haven’t seen failures yet. I’m still a PPQ owner looking for a reason not to update.
@judsonmiers13152 жыл бұрын
@@codean909 From my understanding, the PPQ DOES have some beefy locking lugs for the RMR plates, which is why I was confused as to the change in the PDP, especially with the width of the slide...there is PLENTY of space to mill in those locking lugs.
@graystoke82292 жыл бұрын
There is valid criticism for the lack of lugs. However, there is not much evidence out there to definitely day it is a problem. I do recognize there is a lot of criticism out there about it. If you look at the the PDP SD videos, you will notice the mounting system looks quite different from what I can tell. Probably Walther has gotten tired of the criticism and changed the optics mounting system regardless of the technical merits or not.
@protectiverailroaddad75412 жыл бұрын
kzbin.info/www/bejne/ZpbOnIh3apuffrc If it passes his test then it’s good to go, plain and simple. Aaron set the standard in red dot and mounting systems testing. He is simply the best and it’s not even close. The Glock MOS mounting system failed his test because of the cheap plates Glock includes broke but the PDP passed with flying colors. Like stated above, Walther probably got tired of the self proclaimed mechanical engineers and naysayers saying this system would fail without any proof whatsoever so they added lugs to the new Pro SD models. People need to put this PDP mounting system failure to rest, it’s not happened even 1 time yet and been tested a ton. I’ve got over 2,500 rounds through my PDP compact 5” with a holosun 507c mounted and it’s just as tight and holds zero as shot number 1.

I convinced my best friend in utah to get the ppq based on your reviews. He loves it. Unfortunately i live in ny, with the ny safe act all i can have is a 1911 unless its some ultra compact single stack...

Have my new PDP and man the trigger is a hair nicer than the PPQ. My pdp carries a Holosun 507 with acss Vulcan reticle. Love it. Lol didn't want to but within one range trip I had to love it. They do 1/3 co witness with standard height sights and co witness with taller sights. Put co witness night fusion front and u notch rear. Carry daily in a crossbreed belt slide holster.

I think once you get used to it, the Euro paddle mag release is much better. I don't have to shift my grip to use it.

Not sure if anyone carries a PDP for concealed carry, but I've been carrying PPQ 5 inch in a vertical roto shoulder holster by Craft Holsters for about 3 years during the colder months in Vegas (November thru March). If you want to carry the PDP concealed, I'd definitely look to the same holster

That is so funny that you mentioned the CZ P-10c. I own 2 pistols, the Walther PDP and the CZ P-10c. LOVE them both as if I gave birth to them in the same day but, just something about the PDP that just edges out the P-10c. Currently the P-10c is still my EDC until my new IWB holster comes for the Walther. If looking for a FANTASTIC OWB holster, may I suggest the CompTac (CT3). OMG, I will never buy a safariland again.

How is it vs the canik? They are very similar pistols
@gjk500022 жыл бұрын
I was a huge Walther fanboy,... however.... Canik has innovated past Walther. I was one of the first with a PDP in my area... paid more than I should have and it didn't matter (definition of a fanboy) grip was great (best in my opinion) trigger was a little better than my multiple PPQs, but that was it. Ended up being really disappointed and couldn't believe that was really all they did... oh wait... optics cut, and super serrations... all superficial... the serrations required that I get all new holsters, ...marginal upgrades, and having to get all new holsters, not a good move for Walther. Had to let it go...

Love the PDP. Trigger is great for range shooting, reset is so short I have to guard against double tap. Put a steel guiderod in, nit sure why Walther uses plastic rod.

Why to companies have mold stupid markings into pistols? “Full size”? Right up there with “grip zone”. Why not ‘left side’ or ‘trigger guard’?
@deandaniel65042 жыл бұрын
I'm going to buy one, or at least a slide to put onto my PPQ lower. I like the paddle mag release and the trigger on my PPQ but want the Optic cut and aggressive slide serrations of the PDP.

I have to admit, I’m late to the firearms arena. As far as handguns. I bought a PPQ after exhaustive video reviews and research. The trigger is amazing. I’m pretty accurate with it, and I’ll give Nutnfancy props: he sold me on this gun. So I bought it.

I sold my CZs to purchase the 5" full-sized PDP and the compact 4" PDP. I got a Holosun 407c X2 on the 5" full-size pistol with XS night sights. The Compact I got came with the XS night sights, going to put a Holosun 407C X2 on this one as well. I have to say that in my opinion are better than the CZ P10s that I had. I would recommend the PDP to anyone, so far with 500 rounds through the full-size and 200 rounds through the compact, I am impressed.

I also don't care for square triggers. I bought one for my 43x because after 100 rounds the trigger shoe was giving me a blister on my trigger finger. 1st time ever I have had that happen and I've had like 400rnd days with my g17 and ar with no issues. Anyway it's a flat trigger, it's alright no blister after 200rnds so it's a win. Would I buy another flat faced trigger? Probably not lol

The only thing wrong with mine was getting through a mag without dropping the mag (wish I had gotten the Gen 1 mag release). Moved it to the other side out of the reach of my appearently longer than normal thumb and problem solved. Mine resides in my messenger bag along with a 3a panel and other safety gear when it isn't on my hip.

Only problem with tapered chambers with the Walthers that I've owned is they don't always like reloads whereas my M&Ps will eat anything including powder coated cast bullets. Other than that Walthers are superb.

Another one to take a look at being that you love Canik, and Walther. If you have a chance a Tisas PX-9. I'm picking up a Nightstalker in the next couple of days, but I'm a huge fan of Walther, and Canik for the triggers. I was checking out the Tisas and the trigger feels almost better than the Canik mete SFX trigger. Thought the pdp trigger felt a tiny bit spongy.

Truly entertained by your PDP review. Curious as to your selection of the 4” FS over the 4.5” which seems to be a popular choice. Was it just because it was available? Thinking of going with the size you reviewed.
