Ruger PC Carbine - Why Did I Choose This Firearm??? First Look / First Impressions

i'm no gun expert by any means but I think I would take this gun over any gun on earth in a shtf scenario. long distance 9mm with Glock mags seems like the most logical choice. I'd love to hear differing opinions but a pcc and Glock 19 is what I'd choose.

I have the original version and love it! I upgraded the mag release button and got 2 Magpul Security 9 32 round magazines! It loves 147 gr ball and HP’s ! Just a great little accurate rifle!

Just picked up this same model 20 minutes ago. It uses the same ammo and magazine I use for my sr9c. Can't wait to get it, will have it next Wednesday. Finally got my pc carbine, I did notice that the mag that came with it doesn't fit my ruger sr9c but the mags I have for my sr9c do fit into the rifle, just an observation.

Glock mags are cheap and plentiful and you can easily find extended 24, 31, and drum mags. Suggestion: I removed the rear sight and bolted a small rail in its place, where I mount my red dot. That way my dot is fixed to the barrel and won’t lose zero when I break it down.

Ive never lost zero when taking it down and putting back together with a red dot at 80yds with a 1x red dot mounted to the reciever pic rail...guess ive been lucky! Literally a 1in ragged hole! I love this rifle even though its heavy though loaded with mcarbo internals on a tandemcross chassis.

I recommend sticking with the Ruger magazines for one reason. It’s been reported that the “metal” magazine catch, damages Glock plastic magazines, over time. Whereas the Ruger ones are metal and will not be damaged by the metal magazine catch. If you choose to use the Glock magazines because they accept the same magazines as your EDC pistol, just know over time you will need to likely replace your magazines, due to damage by the metal magazine catch.

Ruger sells alot of the 9mm PC Carbine mainly due to it's ability to use Glock magazines. If there is damage from metal to ploymer contact I am sure there is a fix somewhere to this. Anyway, from my study, of all the new (S&W Response) and old PCCs on the market - for price and perormance tht Ruger *_although heavy_* is a winner.

One work around is to get in the habit of pressing the mag release until the Glock mag is fully inserted. Not as tacti-cool as just slamming them home, but they will last longer. Plus slamming them home could possibly damage the feed lips so is best avoided anyway.

I got my ruger pcc the year they were released so I’ve had it for like 5-7 yrs (something like that anyway). I can say I have only run Glock mags in it from day one, it’s one of the firearms that gets a TON of use as it’s my daughters favorite and can report no problem at so with magazine damage. Not saying it doesn’t happen but I do think it’s a real non issue

I also have the a 9mm PC carbine(with threaded barrel). I got it because I wanted something larger and more powerful than the TacSol 10/22 takedown I had in my get-home/go bag, and also accepts the same magazine as my sidearm(Glock 19 gen 5). Like the TacSol, I have my pc carbine in a Magpul backpacker stock. I find these to be more lightweight and more comfortable than the aluminum chassis systems that utilize a pistol grip and adjustable butt stock. Plus you have the additional mag storage capability.

I really wanted the threaded barrel... kinda bummed about that but I didn't want to wait until who knows when... I'm going to try to a whole new foreend with barrel and swap front ends depending on my use needs

Just got the fde version and i literally put 1000 rds from magtec, blazers CCi, wichesters and federal and only had 3 failures of ejections from CCi blazers but all 115 most need 124 to break in a new gun but this thing feeds anything hands down a great carbine for a everyday Carry back pack and ccdw

There’s actually an extension for the magazine release that you can buy from a couple of different companies which will extend it so you can use it like an AR release and not have to reach around for it

I got this gun too, in a similar boat as you, getting into fire arms later in life and also in California. I didn't want a defiled AR-15, I don't think I'd feel good about it so I got this instead

I have one because it is reasonably priced dead reliable as are all rugers more accurate than I am and great fir shooting with my grandsons. I lived in nj until a year ago. Now live in virginia. Freedom is wonderful.

Thing I always disliked about mine was it being frontheavy. But last week replaced the original stock with the Magpul stock and the balance shifted. Now feels significantly lighter.

One upgrade I'd totally recommend is a new extractor. I got one from mcarbo and what a difference it made. Also you might wanna do it in case you do use Glock mags

Nice pcc 👍🏼🤟🏼 No need to lement about the traditional stock. I, for one, like these stocks (more comfortable) more than pistol grips. Actually the shape and angle on these stocks are almost pistol grip already. I also hate most AR grips. They hurt the middle finger where a lot of pressure on finger whenever holding/lifting the AR with one hand, even if only momentarily. So front heavy, most ARs are. Just my 2cents.

I have really enjoyed this rifle. I have no regrets at all... It's very nice to shoot. I only wish I had the threaded barrel to experiment with other accessories. But not a deal breaker by any means... This has been fantastic. Thanks for watching!

I think you'll like it. You might struggle with reliability with the magazine selection but in my experience the Glock mags seem to make a difference. Regardless I suggest this model

@@tonyvarela904 is the FTE that's the biggest issue. It send to be common but if you do research and work at it you can get that worked out of it. It's a nuisance but in my opinion it's worth dealing with it.

Totally looking to get this rifle model, similarly I’m in a rifle feature banned state so no cool stock or pistol grip for me. I wonder if this version, with the MLOK rail, works with the Magpul backerpacker stock. I would only use the backend section of the kit for the nicer stock and then keep the cool rail. Hopefully I can pair them

I actually went with a completely different model as the state I was in had a "loophole" luckily. Sorry I am no help but the rifle has been a lot more popular lately due to laws so someone should hopefully be able to tell you.
