I bought the Ruger model 19122 and has been great so far. I’ve been using Magpul 27 round Glock style magazines and put in upgrades from MCARBO and Tandemkross to make it even better. It has some weight to it but it is in the middle because of the takedown joint and the bolt block design. Put on a Holosun AEMS and have not bothered with backup sights.

I have an old Hi-Point, the first Gen with the Planet of the Apes stock and it works great. I just picked up this Ruger because of the ability to use Glock mags, and I love it. I appreciate the extra weight as there is no muzzle jump. The Hi-Point did get rough on the cheek after firing lots of rounds. I'm a righty but will put the charging handle on the left side. The sights are excellent on this Ruger. I may put a small laser on the lower rail.

Put the Magpul backpacker stock on mine. What a difference! A fair bit lighter. Has space in the rear of the stock for a mag and a storage cubby in the grip to store tools, etc. Also has a higher comb / cheek rest you can chang out to get better support with red dot use. And the two peices lock together when taken down.

You were surprised that the HiPoint sucked? I think the KelTec has it's place for maybe a truck gun or light backpack gun, but the problem is that you can't mount an optic on it and fold it. Separately if you ditch the riser on the Romeo 5 your sight alignment when you have a good cheek weld will work much better because the stock is lower than an AR extension tube based stock which is straight back from the receiver. If you are really picky you can get an aftermarket part that replaces the rear sight to drop your red-dot on to avoid losing zero when you take it down. Magazine interchangability is exactly why I got this, and I opted in half-way into the first year they were released...I knew I wanted it the minute I saw a review on it....because I knew it'd probably be as reliable as the 10/22 takedown that it's more or less based on.
@crankygunreviews
@crankygunreviews Жыл бұрын
I’m not surprised the Hi-point sucked, just surprised how poor the quality and accuracy was. It was reliable though. I’m ok with the riser height on this, I like having the irons completely clear under it, and bore height does not affect accuracy on this- I can shoot a ragged hole at 50+ yards, it’s by far the most accurate 9mm carbine I’ve shot. I agree with you on the Kel Tec, it has its place, but not in my safe…

I have one, also equipped with the Sig Romeo5 red dot, but mine is finished in a digital camo finish, which is my only complaint. The camo print finish scratches very easily, even ejecting brass has scratched up the area around the ejection port. But, that really doesn’t matter ……. if you had a flawless shovel, it would appear that you never “dig” with it, right? Everything else considered, it’s excellent in every way…. The Glock mags have proven far more reliable than the Ruger mags, and like a Glock, that Ruger eats any type of ammo! I train with it every week, and like my Glocks, I will put lots of miles on it……. I dig it!

Nice video that covers most important features. I have had one of these for a year and a half or so and shoot it often. I had seen a few videos before buying mine about issues one can expect with this rifle which includes from slamming magazines (AR owners) into the magwell it bends the ejector prong thingie on top of the magwell upward sop it starts to scrape the bolt when the rifle is fired causing a slowing of the bolt which causes failure to eject and failure to feed. Thankfully the spare magwell ejector fits the other and also Ruger does sell complete magwel ls on their website should that happen to you. The other issues I saw in other KZbin videos was the extractor wears too quickly causing a failure to eject as the steel is not a hardened steel but rather a more economical stamped steel part. I bought an after market made in A2 hardened tool steel as well as hardened aftermarket bolt head pins which also wear and the extractor pin as well. I also got the buffer pad after market part as the one in the rifle behind the bolt wears. The amount of wear before part wear rears itself from the vids I watched was about 1500-3000 rounds. Some may say that is a normal in many forearms so I'm not sure it is a knock on quality. The rifle has been perfect with no malfunctions except for a Korean made 33 round Glock funstick copy which even after replacing the mag spring still caused problems. I bought two pro-Mag 17 round magazines and those run reliably in case you need extra mags and are afraid of Pro-Mag, they work in this one. Sorry for the long comment ....

It’s pretty good, you should reconsider. And ironically, I can shoot way more accurately out to 50,75,100 yds with this than either a Kel Tec Sub2000 or a Hi-point 995TS even with open sights. Maybe the rifling is better/tighter but with the same ammo, open sights offhand, with both the keltec and Hi-point, at 50 yards my groups were huge and at 100 yards, I was hard pressed to hit the target even with a huge holdover. The Ruger is wayyyy better.

I have somewhere in the neighborhood of 2k rounds through mine and no hiccups . On a 10 scale I give it a 9.9. Nothing is perfect. I would not count on this to be my defensive gun past about 75 yards. You can hit your targets beyond that, but the power and effectiveness of a 9mm at those distances is low. It is a great rifle though, great for close quarters, defense, and super reliable.

@@dinubunica part of the problem is bullet drop/deviation though. At 100 yds a 9mm drops about a foot. It’s is a lot more past that. You’re literally lobbing bullets in. People complain about it weighing too much, but there is practically no recoil. Also the receiver is built like a tank! (A bit over-built one could say, but itsa good thing!) You will go through A LOT of ammo,..... quick! One thing I forgot was that the brass ejected out right and forward into my plush/thick lawn. I re-load, so I was a little upset about that. Good luck & enjoy!

Great Video! Thank you! I've seen many great Ruger PC 9 reviews. However, quite a few viewers responded to these videos with issues about the PC 9 ejection mechanism, saying it began to fail after shooting 1,000 to 1,500 rounds. These viewers said they upgraded their PC 9s with a non-Ruger ejection mechanism and had no more problems. Would you kindly let me know if you have had any experience with this issue?

MCARBO and TANDENKROSS have upgraded parts for the Ruger PCC. I replaced the ejector before I fired the first roundas well as the bolt pins. The bolt hold back is a bit thin so I replaced that also. The MCARBO muzzle brake works well. I also put in the heavy recoil spring and retainer from Tandemkross. Magpul has a 50 round drum magazine that will fit the Ruger but I will have to wait for Christmas on that.LOL

@@waynehankinson8210 thanks for the notes- I know both Tandemkross and MCARBO have good parts, but I try to run a gun as is for a bit to see if I think it needs upgrades, I’m pretty happy with the PC Carbine so far, unlike the Sub2000.

@@DeanRazorsArmory you’re not looking that hard then- look at TFB torture tests on High Point, demo ranch torture tests. And from my personal experience, I put over 500 rounds through mine with no hiccups. A whole bucket-o-bullets in one trip, a couple hundred steel cases, hollowpoint… I was happy with the reliability, but past 30 or 40 yards the accuracy wasnt that good, I hated the springy buttpad, the front sight needed to be drifted way over so the rear sight was centered, and I hated that the firing pin was the ejector. But my 995TS was 100% reliable.
